Chapter 8 Pocket Money
Sheng Jian was so angry that he blew his beard and glared, stabbing his crutch on the floor loudly: "You bastard! I've been through the gates of hell, and you're just complaining without any reason?!"
When he turned around and saw Shi Qing, his expression changed instantly, and he put on a kind smile: "Oh, this is Xiaoqing! Just like Xiaohan said, pretty and well-behaved!"
"Hello, uncle." Shi Qing greeted Sheng Jian a little awkwardly.
The Sheng Jian in front of him was about 50% similar to Sheng Han. In the photos found online, he looked serious and majestic, but now he seemed quite amiable and much easier to get along with than the stern-faced Sheng Han.
Although most of his hair has turned white due to illness, he is still energetic and his eyes are bright.
"Still calling me uncle?" Sheng Jian pretended to be displeased and corrected me with a smile, "You should call me dad!"
He knew very well that if the boy didn't need his cooperation, he probably wouldn't even let him know that he was getting married, let alone bring his new wife to see him.
Shi Qing's face flushed instantly. Under Sheng Jian's eager gaze and Sheng Han's tacit approval, she softly called out, "Dad!"
"Hey! Good boy!" Sheng Jian was so happy that he couldn't stop smiling. He immediately took out a bank card he had prepared long ago from his pocket. "This is a little gift from Dad. It's not much, just 10 million pocket money. Buy whatever you like!"
Shi Qing felt her breath was choked.
Although she had a decent income in the entertainment industry in the past few years, it was far from the level where she could casually call 10 million pocket money!
Sheng Han took the bank card from Sheng Jian's hand and stuffed it neatly into her bag, complaining in a flat tone: "It's just such a small amount of money, and you have the nerve to give it to me?"
Sheng Jian glared at him: "What's the rush? We still have Sheng Xin's shares, and the paperwork is in progress!"
He turned around and greeted Shi Qing warmly, "Come on, don't stand at the door, come in and sit down!"
He took the gift bag from Sheng Han's hand, his eyes narrowed into slits, and said firmly: "These good things must be bought by Xiaoqing, right? This kid always comes to see me empty-handed."
Shi Qing could only smile awkwardly and was too embarrassed to respond.
It was indeed she who insisted Sheng Han buy the gift at the mall after she learned that she was going to see Director Sheng. Otherwise, judging by Sheng Han's attitude, he really intended to come empty-handed.
Sheng Jian took the marriage certificate and looked at it carefully. Looking at the handsome man and beautiful woman on it, he nodded with satisfaction.
"Okay, okay! I thought this guy would live out his life alone." Unexpectedly, after all the twists and turns, it turned out to be this girl.
Sheng Han took the marriage certificate back from Sheng Jian's hand: "I've seen the certificate, and you've met the person. You can deal with those old antiques in the company yourself. Don't use this as an excuse to bother me."
The corners of Sheng Jian's mouth twitched slightly.
Thinking of the notice I received yesterday.
Oh, that’s really great.
He used this as an excuse to trick the girl into marrying him. Even when he was young, he didn't dare to do this to his mother.
Those so-called "old stubborn people" were completely subdued by this guy's move at the shareholders' meeting. Who in the group dares to go against him now?
He sighed, clutching his chest with his hands in a brilliant performance, looking weak. "Alas, it's all my fault that I'm not strong enough. I caused Xiaohan to suffer in the group..."
Shi Qing comforted him gently, "Uncle, don't worry too much. Taking care of your health is the most important thing."
"Good girl, such a good girl!" Sheng Jian smiled even more deeply and patted the back of her hand. "If this kid dares to bully you in the future, tell me and I'll teach him a lesson for you!"
Sheng Han interrupted coldly, "Don't worry, I'm definitely more concerned about my mother than you were back then."
These words were like a thin needle, gently piercing Sheng Jian's heart.
His smile faded, and a hint of sadness appeared in his eyes.
To prove himself to the Zhou family, he poured almost all his energy into his career. He remembered that the last time his wife was hospitalized, he was overseas discussing a partnership, his phone on silent mode. By the time he rushed back, seeing dozens of missed calls, the funeral hall was already set up.
Sixteen-year-old Sheng Han knelt in front of the portrait, looking at him as if he were a stranger.
Sheng Han looked at his father's eyes which dimmed for a moment, and felt a slight tightness in his chest.
But he will never forget the afternoon when his mother's body gradually lost its temperature, and this man was nowhere to be found.
Perhaps it was because I saw him lying in a hospital bed a year ago, his hair mostly gray, no longer as energetic and spirited as I remembered. Perhaps time had smoothed out some of his edges, and I wasn't as prickly as I once was.
"Okay." Sheng Han's tone softened a little. "If there's nothing else, we'll leave first. You should have a good rest."
Sheng Jian looked at the two people leaving, shook his head and sighed.
You little bastard, you wouldn't even drink a cup of tea with him.
His phone vibrated, and he thought it was a message from his assistant, so he looked down.
Son: "I'm going to start filming next week. If you don't have anything else to do, please leave the hospital early and go to the company to take charge."
Sheng Jian: “…”
What a bastard! If it weren't for his phone call yesterday, he would still be out fishing. Why would he be staying in this smelly place?
He poked at the screen with trembling fingers for a long time, and in the end, he only replied with a smiling emoticon.

In the car, Shi Qing touched the bank card in her bag, still feeling a sense of unreality. She didn't expect Director Sheng to be so approachable.
"How are you thinking about signing the contract?"
Shi Qing realized that he was referring to the signing with Qiankun Entertainment.
If you divorce after a year...
"I'm not someone who would stab someone in the back." Sheng Han seemed to see through her thoughts. "Qiankun Entertainment respects the development of every artist, and the treatment and authority are much better than other companies. You can try it out first. If you adapt well, you can open your own studio later."
Shi Qing's breathing was slightly stagnant.
Personal studio... It's not that she hasn't thought about it, but the entertainment industry is a place that values resources. She hasn't had a new drama for two years, and without anyone behind her, it's even difficult to terminate the contract peacefully.
And Qiankun Entertainment is indeed the best choice.
Founded just a few years ago, it has already become a leader in the industry. Its original dramas have received rave reviews, and the company has signed almost exclusively talented actors, with top-tier resources, revenue sharing, and voice.
"Okay." She finally nodded, "I'll sign!"
Sheng Han's lips curled up, and a smile spread across his eyes: "Then let's go now, we can still catch up with the signing today."
Shi Qing: “…”
Okay, you are the boss and you have the final say.
Shi Qing looked out the window. The sunlight shone through the gaps between the leaves, casting mottled shadows on the car window.
The corners of his lips curled up slightly, and a bright smile appeared in his eyes.
The heavy resentment that had been weighing on my heart since my rebirth seemed to finally be relieved at this moment.
She suddenly realized that she was actually beginning to look forward to the future.
Sheng Han turned his head calmly and observed her quietly through the reflection of the car window.
"What are you thinking about?" he asked softly.
Shi Qing came back to her senses and turned to look at him, her smile still lingering: "Nothing, I just suddenly felt..."
She paused, choosing her words carefully. "It seems like everything is getting better."
“This is just the beginning.”
Our future is still long...
