Chapter 25 Building City Walls and Buying Weapons (Part 1)

Upon hearing their words, Han Tianba's mouth formed an "O" shape.

It took a long time before he flew down from the sedan chair and slapped the nearest guard hard across the face.

"What the hell is going on?"

The guard was slapped to the ground, covering his face and looking pitiful.

"It was Chen Kun. He lied to us, saying that the princess was hiding grain and wouldn't open the granaries to release it. He made us steam and eat children to incite the people to plunder the grain, and then let the Northern Barbarian army come in to launch a surprise attack. We were all deceived..."

"Damn it! A bunch of bastards, daring to play tricks under my nose, I'll tear them to pieces!"

Turning to Qin Yue Zhao, he changed his previous arrogant demeanor and said solemnly, "Your Highness, whether you believe it or not, I, Han Tianba, will never do anything that involves colluding with the enemy or betraying the country!"

"But this picture is indeed the one I gave to Chen Kun. I'm willing to bring people back to him and let you punish me as you see fit!"

After saying that, he pressed down on the knife and prepared to leave.

Qin Yue Zhao frowned and stepped forward, blocking his way.

"Han Tianba, I will ask you one more time: do you really not know about the treason?"

"I swear to God, I knew nothing! If I have uttered even half a lie, may I be struck by lightning!"

"Even though you were unaware, you neglected your duties and were negligent. Do you plead guilty?"

Han Tianba frowned, but after a long while, he nodded.

"I failed to discipline my subordinates properly; it's because I was blind!"

Qin Yuezhao stopped beating around the bush and said directly:

"Since that's the case, I, the princess, will give you a chance to redeem yourself! As long as you assist me in repelling the enemy, you can choose any food or weapons you want!"

"What?" Han Tianba was completely stunned.

The guards behind Han Tianba were even more excited upon hearing this.

"Sir, please don't hesitate, just agree!"

"Yes, Your Highness is forgiving and understanding, please don't be stubborn anymore! Besides, the Northern Barbarians have been bullying us for so long, we have to follow the princess!"

Han Tianba looked at the guard who had spoken and cursed gruffly, "Damn it, how come I didn't notice sooner that you're such a promising kid?"

Qin Yue Zhao smiled.

"What's going on, Han Tianba? Why aren't you going to count the troops and hand over the roster?"

Upon hearing this, Han Tianba immediately shouted to the guards behind him, "What are you still standing there for? Hurry up and go to the mansion to get the roster. Aren't you hungry?"

He was so hungry he was dizzy, and the thought of the princess's mansion with its courtyard full of grain made him incredibly impatient.

The guards of the prefect's mansion immediately dropped their armor and knelt on the ground, expressing their gratitude profusely.

"Thank you, Your Highness, thank you, Your Majesty!"

Qin Yue Zhao raised her hand again and looked at Han Tianba.

"I haven't finished speaking yet."

"Huh? Are you kidding me?"

"I'm not trying to trick you, but the gods have a second requirement. They know that you've been plundering the people of Liangcheng all these years, and they want you to hand over all the money you've embezzled to atone for your sins!"

Upon hearing this, Han Tianba's expression changed.

"That's nonsense. Your humble servant has been living a law-abiding life in Liangcheng. How could I have plundered the people's wealth?"

"Oh? You mean the gods wronged you?"

"No, no, I was just saying!"

Han Tianba chuckled, "Besides, it's a year of famine. What's money anyway? It can be used to make offerings to the gods in exchange for food. Don't just take mine, take all the guards in the prefect's mansion too!"
