Chapter 61 Spreading the Plague (Part 1)

The scout trembled at his shout.

"This humble general was unaware of the danger. I was swept away by the heat of the fire dragon and barely escaped with my life before rushing back to report."

Upon hearing this, Mog clenched his fists in anger and gritted his teeth.

Even Hegi put down his teacup, his thick eyebrows furrowing slightly as he asked, "Controlling a fire dragon? How is it controlled, and who controls it?"

The scout thought for a moment and then gave a detailed report of what he had seen and heard.

Heji crushed the teacup in his hand and sneered, "It seems I underestimated Qin Yuezhao!"

"What does the prince mean by this? Does it mean that we will stop fighting just because the Nan family army has been defeated?" a lieutenant asked, puzzled.

“How could we not fight? But we can’t rush things.” Hegi looked at the witch doctor. “You said today that an unknown disease has appeared in the military camp? Where are the corpses?”

The witch doctor cupped his hands in a respectful gesture.

"The dead bodies have all been buried in the pits, and many soldiers are beyond saving, I'm afraid..."

"Since we're all going to die anyway, let's play along and let them pretend to be prisoners and enter the city."

Everyone present was stunned upon hearing this.

The plague that broke out in the Northern Barbarian army camp was fierce and rapid, and there was no cure for it.

If this news spreads to Liangcheng, they don't believe Qin Yuezhao can stay in the city any longer!

Outside Liangcheng, the main battlefield.

Yellow sand filled the sky, and the sun climbed over the mountaintop in the east.

On the parched sand, bloodstains were everywhere, glaring and stinking, and severed limbs and remains were piled up like mountains.

Many of the Southern Army soldiers were blown apart, their intestines ripped open, and some even lost their heads.

The scene was bloody, brutal, and terrifying.

But Qin Yue Zhao acted as if it were commonplace, leading the Huo family army to survey the battlefield.

The battlefield was too close to Beiliang. If the dead soldiers were not buried in time, they would definitely mutate after being exposed to the midday sun. Not to mention the smell, diseases would also spread.

Just then, Zheng Hu and several deputy generals rushed up in a hurry.

“Your Highness, if you had known that Nan Chengfeng had betrayed us, you should have had me block them on the road from the beginning. We couldn’t have let him onto the main battlefield and wasted hundreds of our gas cylinders.”

"But this battle was really exhilarating! You didn't see it, those fleeing Southern Army soldiers rushed into the forest like headless flies, scared out of their wits by the sound of the sensors."

"And another thing, those animal traps were really powerful. They snapped the legs of the Nan family soldiers on the spot. We captured more than 8,000 deserters this time!"

Seeing how happy they were, Huo Tingye was also extremely pleased.

But he soon discovered that Ling Tianen was not there.

"Why are you the only ones here? Where is General Ling's team?"

Zheng Hu looked back.

"I don't know. We're in charge of two routes. Judging by the time, he should be back by now... Maybe there are still enemy soldiers escaping, and General Ling has led men to pursue them?"

Huo Tingye frowned.

"No, you must take a team and go find them right away! I warned you before, don't pursue a cornered enemy. You young people are so impulsive, you get carried away as soon as you taste a little success!"

Upon hearing this, Qin Yue Zhao also said to Zheng Hu, "The area around Liangcheng is full of Northern Barbarian soldiers. General Huo is right. You should hurry up and find him and bring him back."

Zheng Hu nodded and immediately led a group of soldiers away.

When they set off again, Qin Yue Zhao asked Huo Ting Ye.

"Uncle, how many prisoners did we capture this time?"

Huo Tingye looked at the list of personnel submitted by the various deputy generals in his hand.

"A total of 6,000 Southern Army soldiers and 2,300 Northern Barbarian soldiers were captured, for a total of 8,300!"
