Chapter 8 You're All Soaked (Part 1)

The rice is crystal clear, and the flour is as white as snow. There is no coarse flour mixed in, and there is not a trace of mold or ash.

Immediately afterwards, incredibly fresh potatoes and cabbages fell down.

The cabbage leaves were glossy and covered with water droplets.

The potatoes are fresh, without any sprouts or rotten holes.

There were also instant noodles, ham sausages, and pickled vegetables, all of which were things that ancient soldiers had never even seen before.

Zheng Hu picked up a packet of leftover pickled vegetables, took a bite, and jumped up happily.

"Oh dear, Princess, this dish tastes salty! It actually contains salt!"

"The border region has been short of salt for months, and the soldiers are weak and even have goiter. The gods knew about this and sent us salt! The gods are truly saviors of suffering and have great supernatural powers!"

Some people even cut open the sausages with a knife, peeled off the outer plastic skin, and exposed the meat inside.

"Princess, it's ham! It's roasted ham. It's amazing that the gods could put it in such a small bag and it hasn't gone bad."

Three large bags of rice, two large bags of flour, a basket of potatoes and cabbage, a box of near-expiry instant noodles, ham sausages, and half a box of pickled vegetables were smashed out of the copper basin.

Finally, a bottle of Lao Gan Ma chili sauce and half a bucket of oil fell down.

Chen Wan'er remembered the cola she had drunk not long ago and quickly picked up the Lao Gan Ma chili sauce.

“Princess, look! This bottle is made of glass! It’s even smoother and more translucent than the glass cup His Majesty uses.”

"It smells so good, it looks like it's filled with oil!"

Zheng Hu picked up the large oil can and shrieked, "What oil? This humble general sees that the oil is in this soft, large bottle!"

As soon as they heard there was salt and oil, everyone crowded around.

"It smells so good! This oil doesn't seem to be made from rapeseed, but it's very clear and clean. I really want to take a sip."

Several soldiers have been eating grass roots and clay for days and have developed bloating. If they could drink a sip of this oil, their months-long constipation would be relieved.

The soldiers watched helplessly, but none of them dared to make a move.

They were the Huo family's most loyal soldiers, and the princess was their top priority.

They won't take a single grain of rice unless the princess gives the order!

Chen Wan'er tidied up the things bestowed upon her by the gods.

The offerings filled the altar to the brim, but it was far from enough for all the people and soldiers in the city to eat.

Therefore, Qin Yue Zhao specially wrote a letter of thanks to the gods.

"Thank you, God, for the food. Yue Zhao wishes to burn incense and pray daily to repay your great kindness!"

She saw the prayer letter placed in the copper basin, but there was no reaction for a long time.

Worried that he might have angered the gods by being too greedy, he ordered his lieutenants to transport the grain to the military camp first.

The soldiers hadn't eaten rice and oil for a long time. Cooking these things into porridge in a large pot, and adding some grass roots and tree bark, would make for an extremely delicious dinner.

After delivering the grain, she led Chen Wan'er from the military camp back to the general's mansion.

The surrounding area was filled with yellow sand and dark clouds obscured the moon. The dilapidated shacks stood like rotten mushrooms along the street.

Groups of people sat around the campfire, their clothes tattered, their faces gaunt, but their bellies bulging as if they were stuffed with a ball.

When they saw the princess emerge, their eyes glazed over, and they looked like mindless puppets.

A few people who still had some strength, grateful for the princess's gift of water, knelt on the ground and kowtowed.

Previously, they had caused trouble at the entrance of the General's Mansion. Princess disregarded past grievances and they apologized to her, repenting for their mistakes and praying that she would give them food again.
