Just then, Corpse Brother sent Bian Lang a new corpse-driving mission.
This time, he didn't get a few days of rest at all, and then he had a new task, which really surprised Bian Lang.
But upon seeing the corpses he was rushing to, Bian Lang felt relieved.
Within three months, Zhu Bi's remains must be transported to Shenxian Gou.
This vermilion pen belonged to none other than the Gu practitioner who had just been killed by Shangguan Hongyu.
Bian Lang reached out to stop Awan and asked, "Are you sure you don't want to take his body back to Shenxian Gou?"
“You…” Awan’s eyes were filled with surprise and doubt.
Bian Lang laughed and said, "I know this person is also a demon hunter from Shenxian Valley."
Awan remained silent.
Awan was also certain that none of the demon hunters in Shenxiangou were evil.
However, Zhu Bi turned herself into a Gu person here, which was a huge blow to her and made her start to doubt the good and evil of the demon hunters.
In her mind, Zhu Bi was the most upright demon hunter in the world.
Zhu Bi was even willing to sacrifice his own life to protect innocent civilians.
But it's truly outrageous that such a demon hunter would turn himself into a Gu poison master.
"How did you know?" Awan took a deep breath and asked in a low voice.
Bian Lang laughed and said, "Don't worry, I will personally take him home."
Awan frowned, remaining silent. She still hadn't figured out whether Zhu Bi had secretly turned her into a Gu person, or whether the elders in Shenxian Valley knew about it.
Just then, Dugu Qiusheng rushed over.
"We know where those guys are hiding." Dugu Qiusheng's voice was filled with excitement.
His gaze, however, was fixed on the coffin, and he found the man lying inside to be quite handsome.
Bian Lang said, "Miss Awan, even if you try to stop me, I still have to send his body to Shenxian Gou."
"Without me leading the way, do you know where Shenxian Valley is?" Awan asked coldly.
Bian Lang smiled and said, "I didn't know before, but I just found out."
"Impossible." Awan felt that Bian Lang was deliberately bluffing her.
The location of Shenxian Valley is very mysterious; even some of the most outstanding demon hunters on the continent do not know where it is.
Bian Lang said no more. Awan might not believe him, but if she went with them to transport the corpses later, she would know that he did indeed know where Shenxian Gou was.
Without even asking, Shangguan Hongyu knew that it must have been Corpse Brother who had Bian Lang send the corpse to Shenxian Gou.
That's great, it saves us the trouble of having Awan as a guide.
But the more important thing right now is undoubtedly to catch those who raise poisonous insects.
Led by Dugu Qiusheng, they quickly arrived at the group's hideout.
That place is nestled against a mountain; it's a rather imposing village.
There was no plaque above the gate of Zhuangzi indicating the owner's identity.
The door was wide open, and the group entered without knocking.
The yard was overgrown with weeds and looked very desolate.
It looks like no one has lived here for a long time.
However, voices could be heard coming from inside the room in the center.
Meanwhile, smoke began to rise from the kitchen next door.
The entire funeral procession is here, with most people resting in the main hall and only a few cooking in the kitchen.
Awan rushed into the main hall and froze when she saw the person sitting in the center.
The man was in his early forties, his face covered in scars, yet he still looked very kind.
Upon seeing Awan, the man's face showed a look of confusion, but he then smiled and asked, "Awan, what are you doing here?"
"Shouldn't I be asking you that?" Awan said coldly.
This man was none other than Mai Rufeng, Awan's senior brother in the sect.
Just now, in the funeral procession, Awan definitely didn't see Mai Rufeng.
But Mai Rufeng is sitting here now, chatting happily with those who came to pay their respects, which shows that Mai Rufeng played a significant role behind the scenes in turning the vermilion pen into a bewitching agent.
Mai Rufeng laughed and said, "I'm here to catch up with old friends, is that not allowed? But what's wrong with my junior sister? Why isn't she staying in that godforsaken place? What is she doing here?"
“Zhu Bi is dead,” Awan said.
Mai Rufeng frowned slightly and said, "How is that possible?"
“The body is outside,” Awan added.
Upon hearing this, Mai Rufeng could no longer remain calm and quickly left the house.
Bian Lang had placed Zhu Bi's body in a shady spot; even a corpse should be sensitive to heat.
The temperature here is extremely hot and humid.
When Mai Rufeng saw Zhu Bi's corpse, his face darkened. He then glared at Awan and asked in a cold voice, "Shouldn't you give me an explanation?"
"I'm waiting for my senior brother's explanation," Awan said calmly.
Mai Rufeng smiled, took a few steps to Zhu Bi's body, and confirmed that Zhu Bi was really dead, along with the Gu worms inside her body.
Things shouldn't have turned out this way. When Zhu Bi came to ask him for help, he hesitated, but after hearing the reasons Zhu Bi gave, his heart wavered.
Then came the benefits Zhu Bi promised him, which immediately shattered his defenses.
Mai Rufeng admired Zhu Bi's courage, being able to give up everything he currently had to gamble on that vague and uncertain future; he himself could not do that.
Mai Rufeng quickly understood and sighed, "So you dug out your junior brother and then killed him?"
“He has become a Gu poison master,” Awan said painfully.
In her eyes, Zhu Bi, who had become a Gu poison user, was beyond saving.
Mai Rufeng said, "At least he's still alive, and there's a chance he'll wake up in the future. Maybe he can even become an immortal, but right now..."
In Mai Rufeng's view, it was Awan who completely ruined the Zhubi.
