A chilling aura permeated the woods.
Even the furry boy felt a chill down his back and was in great pain.
"Master, don't you all feel cold?" Maoqiu asked in a trembling voice.
Bian Lang said, "If you're really scared, then go back. Since we know those guys are in this forest, we can go find them ourselves."
"That won't do. I just said that I would stand with the Pavilion Master through thick and thin. How can I go back on my word?" Maoqiu's actions were undoubtedly aimed at consolidating his position as the head steward of the Joyful God Pavilion.
Bian Lang had no idea that his joke could make Mao Qiu feel so uneasy and on edge.
“Actually, we are surrounded by ghost soldiers,” Maoqiu said in a trembling voice.
Shangguan Hongyu frowned and said, "How come I didn't see it?"
"They've all hidden themselves away; that's a truly clever tactic." Maoqiu stopped in his tracks.
It was only at this moment that Maoqiu realized this, which was quite a dereliction of duty.
But there was nothing that could be done about it; who would have thought that these ghost soldiers would have a way to hide themselves?
If it weren't for the ghost soldiers inadvertently revealing a flaw, he might not have been able to discover their hiding place even after they had wandered around the forest.
Shangguan Hongyu asked, puzzled, "Why are they hiding?"
"I don't know about that. What's scary is that they clearly saw us, but they didn't react at all." Thinking of this, Maoqiu felt a chill run down his spine.
Bian Lang laughed and said, "They'll only react when we've completely fallen into their trap."
Maoqiu felt that Bianlang's words made a lot of sense, and his heart became more and more uneasy.
But now that things have come to this, it would be more dangerous for him to leave the forest alone. It would be safer for him to stay with Bian Lang and Shangguan Hongyu.
Bian Lang urged Mao Qiu to hurry up and just keep heading towards where the Yin Soldier Commander was. The rest was up to them to act according to circumstances.
Encouraged by Bianlang, Maoqiu had to lift his foot again, but each step was extremely heavy.
Shangguan Hongyu was also very nervous, but as Bian Lang had said, she could only head deeper into the forest.
Rather than eliminating the hidden ghost soldiers, capturing their commander is the most crucial task.
"We're here, it's just ahead." Maoqiu's voice was still trembling.
Bian Lang stopped and frowned slightly. He felt that they were able to get here smoothly because the commander of the Yin soldiers had given the order, which was why no one had stopped them along the way.
The commander of the ghost soldiers either has something to say to them, or he has set a trap here for them to fall into.
Bian Lang stopped advancing, clasped his hands in a salute, and said loudly, "I apologize for my unauthorized visit. May I ask to show myself?"
"What brings you here?" A cold, deep voice came from the darkness ahead.
Shangguan Hongyu really wanted to laugh; they should be the ones asking that question.
These ghostly soldiers came directly from another world to this one, and they're staying outside the prison; their motives must be impure.
Bian Lang smiled and said, "Why have you all surrounded us along the Tongtian River?"
Instead of answering the other person's question, he threw the question back at them, which impressed Maoqiu greatly.
"Heh..." The man just let out a cold laugh.
Bian Lang asked in a cold voice, "Could it be that the Heavenly Realm invited you here?"
This was Bian Lang's guess about the matter.
These ghostly soldiers couldn't have come to this world for no reason, and they just happened to surround them. The most likely explanation is that the ghostly soldiers were invited by the Heavenly Realm.
Normally, no one would believe that the celestial realm would need to ask for help to deal with a mortal.
That is why, if the Heavenly Realm were to actually do this, they could catch Bianlang off guard.
This move was extremely clever.
"You are not our target." The man continued walking forward, and it was only slowly that Bian Lang and the others could see his face clearly.
This man was very tall and burly, with a pair of gleaming eyes on his deadpan face.
Those eyes were incredibly deep; at least, Shangguan Hongyu and Maoqiu couldn't discern anything from them.
Bian Lang asked with a smile, "Then who is your target?"
“In the land where you live, there are many people whose races should have been wiped out long ago. We have come for them,” the man chuckled.
Among the creatures on the Prison Land, the most distinctive are the multi-headed and headless tribes.
Bian Lang asked, "Could you be more specific?"
"A headless tribe." The man actually answered.
Shangguan Hongyu was greatly puzzled and asked, "What grudge does the Headless Clan have against you?"
"You're interested in this? But I don't want to bring up those painful memories anymore. However, I must make it clear to you that if you insist on protecting the Headless Clan, we will march into the Dark Domain over your corpses." The man's voice grew increasingly cold.
Those gleaming eyes were also filled with murderous intent.
Bian Lang laughed and said, "We will not interfere in this matter."
"Then please leave." The man waved his hand.
They came for the headless tribe and didn't want to get into conflict with unrelated people.
Making even one more enemy could potentially affect the realization of the overall plan.
Bian Lang nodded and then asked, "But I'm curious, how are you going to cross the river?"
The man frowned slightly but said nothing.
Without a doubt, crossing the river was the biggest obstacle in their path.
They came with great ambition, only to be stopped by a river – how ironic!
Even the barrier between the two worlds couldn't stop them, yet a river managed to do so, which is truly astonishing.
"This is none of your business," the man said, urging the three of them to leave again.
If you continue to linger here, you can't blame them for being impolite.
