Chapter Eight Rabbit Meat Rice Crust

The magician clung to the rope like a monkey, either spinning around or going up and down.

Shangguan Hongyu's sword moves were sharp, but she always missed.

Even the longsword imbued with internal energy could not sever the Heavenly Rope.

The magician seized the opportunity, dodging the longsword while simultaneously grabbing Shangguan Hongyu.

Shangguan Hongyu was unable to stop her attack in time and could not escape the misfortune of being taken away by the magician.

Bian Lang had been watching the play the whole time. Seeing that Shangguan Hongyu was about to be taken away by the opera performer, he gently flicked a small pebble that he was holding between his fingers.

The magician grinned maliciously, his withered, dirty hand reaching down towards Shangguan Hongyu's chest.

Shangguan Hongyu looked desperate, trying her best to turn the long sword around. Even if the magician took her away, she would perish together with him.

"Ouch..." The opera performer grabbed Shangguan Hongyu's hand, only to have his wrist struck by a small stone, shattering his bones and rendering him powerless.

Although she didn't know what had happened, Shangguan Hongyu managed to seize a chance, thrusting her longsword back and piercing straight through the magician's throat.

Blood splattered all over Shangguan Hongyu, making it look as if a real red rain had just fallen.

After the magician died and fell to the ground, the Heavenly Rope cascaded down, completely covering the magician's body.

Shangguan Hongyu took off the white cloak she was wearing, wiped the blood off her face on it, tossed it aside, and turned to look at Bian Lang.

Just now, at the critical moment, the magician's hands seemed to suddenly lose their strength.

Was it Bian Lang secretly helping them?

"Master Bian, let me dispose of this body first." Shangguan Hongyu took a breath and thought of digging a hole to bury the magician's body.

Bian Lang asked with a smile, "The Joyful God Pavilion shouldn't mind taking in one more corpse, right?"

"Probably not," Shangguan Hongyu said.

Bian Lang burned the Heavenly Rope, draped the blood-stained white cloak over the opera performer, affixed a talisman to his forehead, and shouted, "Rise!"

The body of the magician obediently followed behind Rama's remains.

“Then I…” Shangguan Hongyu really didn’t want to pretend to be a corpse anymore.

Bian Lang said, "Many corpse drivers have assistants."

"But I don't know how to transport corpses," Shangguan Hongyu said somewhat embarrassedly.

Bian Lang laughed and said, "You can ring a bell, right?" He then handed the Soul-Capturing Bell to Shangguan Hongyu.

Shangguan Hongyu was quite nervous. She gently shook the Soul-Capturing Bell, but when she turned her head, she saw that the two corpses were not moving at all.

As she walked forward, the corpse indeed followed.

She would ring the soul-summoning bell from time to time, and the corpse would follow her relentlessly.

"The dead go on their way, the living must avoid..." Even though they were in the middle of nowhere, Shangguan Hongyu still imitated Bian Lang's tone and shouted the work song, but his voice was too low, as if it was being made from under his buttocks.

By the time they arrived at the next inn for transporting corpses, it was almost dawn.

Only after experiencing it firsthand did Shangguan Hongyu discover how interesting corpse-driving was.

Starting the fire, cooking, washing the pots—Shangguan Hongyu took care of all these tasks, acting nothing like a pampered young lady.

For the next few days, everything was as usual.

Sleeping during the day and transporting corpses at night, they are getting closer and closer to the Xishen Pavilion.

The fact that no one came to snatch Rama's remains left Shangguan Hongyu with a heavy heart.

“We’ll reach the Joyful God Pavilion in three days at most. Are you sure you want to hand over Luo Mo’s remains to the Joyful God Pavilion?” Bian Lang had just woken up when he saw Shangguan Hongyu sitting on the steps under the eaves, lost in thought. He walked over and asked.

Shangguan Hongyu asked with a smile, "Master Bian, do you also want the remains of Rama?"

"We're almost at the Happiness Pavilion, but the young lady seems rather downcast. Is it because she doesn't want to hand over Rama's remains to the Happiness Pavilion, or because the big fish she's trying to catch hasn't taken the bait?" Bian Lang sat down next to Shangguan Hongyu.

Since the incident at Justice Fortress, Shangguan Hongyu has never been the carefree young lady she once was.

Finding her father's killer and managing the affairs of Justice Fortress turned her from a cheerful girl into a quiet and reserved person.

She had a lot of grievances in her heart and wanted to find someone to talk to, but she didn't know if Bian Lang was a good listener.

The atmosphere is just right right now, and it would seem strange not to say anything.

Shangguan Xiong and his wife, the Iron Lady, were assassinated outside the Justice Fortress.

By the time Shangguan Hongyu arrived with reinforcements, Shangguan Xiong was already dead, and the Iron Lady had lost both her legs.

Not long after returning to Justice Fortress, Shangguan Hongyu announced that Iron Lady had also died from her injuries.

Rama's remains are in a secret chamber in the Fortress of Justice, a place riddled with traps and mechanisms, where no one can enter alive.

Shangguan Hongyu had been waiting for the real culprit to come to her door, but unexpectedly, the real culprit was very patient.

Left with no other choice, she began to devise a plan to transport Luo Mo's remains to the Xishen Pavilion, thus fulfilling her father Shangguan Xiong's last wish.

Shangguan Hongyu was initially full of confidence, but after encountering the magician, she realized that even if the real culprit appeared, she might not be able to take revenge.

Her martial arts skills were far inferior to her parents'.

Even with her parents joining forces, she was defeated. How could she possibly succeed on her own?

Bian Lang stood up, stretched, and laughed, "Even if the sky falls, we must keep a calm mind. Perhaps the real culprit will appear tonight. I'll go cook first."

"Food?" Shangguan Hongyu was slightly taken aback, then suddenly screamed and ran towards the kitchen on the side.

She cooked rabbit porridge, but unfortunately, it turned into burnt rabbit meat crust.

Bian Lang took a bite and praised, "This crispy rice crust is quite fragrant. What kind of meat is used?"

“This is rabbit meat porridge.” Shangguan Hongyu rolled her eyes.

But seeing Bian Lang eating with relish, she felt a warm feeling in her heart.

After clearing away the dishes, Bian Lang activated the two corpses before having Shangguan Hongyu lead the way, shaking the Soul-Capturing Bell.

"Master Bian, once I avenge my father's death, will you take me as your apprentice?" Shangguan Hongyu's desire to become a corpse driver was extremely strong.

Bian Lang glared at him and said, "Are you trying to back out?"

"Go back on what?"

"I'll repay you with my body."

Shangguan Hongyu's face flushed red, and she shook the Soul-Capturing Bell even louder.

Bian Lang suddenly blocked Shangguan Hongyu's path, cupped his fists and said, "Mountains may have an end, but waters are endless. May I ask which path you have taken, fellow Daoist?"

"The moonlight tonight isn't suitable for drying noodles." A person emerged from behind a large tree ahead, dressed in a blue robe, holding a bowl of steaming noodles, eating as he spoke.

It's Lei Bin.

"It seems Black Stone is truly determined to obtain Rama's remains," Shangguan Hongyu chuckled.

Lei Bin said, "Miss Shangguan, as long as you hand over the remains of Luo Mo, I will not harm you, how about it?"

"Leave now, and I won't kill you, okay?" Shangguan Hongyu mimicked Lei Bin's tone.

Lei Bin shook his head, knowing that this matter could not be resolved peacefully.

He only likes making and eating noodles; he doesn't like fighting or killing at all.

But as an assassin for Blackstone, whether or not to kill is not entirely up to him.

“That’s… a rope?” Lei Bin suddenly noticed the body of the magician.

Bian Lang said, "Lei Bin, your wife is pregnant, why get involved in this mess?"

"You know me?" Lei Bin asked, his face full of shock.

He and his beloved wife lived a secluded life and hadn't been active in the martial arts world for a long time. In addition, he was low-key and it was difficult for him to leave a deep impression on people.
