Chapter 1

Chapter 1

"Ding-dong, ding-dong." I couldn't open my eyes, so I fumbled to postpone the alarm on the phone beside the bed, and then continued to sleep lazily.

Ten minutes later, the alarm went off again. I impatiently sat up from my bed, turned off the alarm, and yawned. I drifted off, drowsily slipping into my pajamas and heading to the bathroom to wash up. A handful of water splashed across my face, and I instantly felt more alert.

I looked at myself in the mirror. I had short, neat black hair, a fair face, and a pair of bright eyes.

I changed into a white shirt and trousers and hurried out the door. I took the subway to the store, opened the door, and cleaned up.

I opened a bakery in the city and my life was pretty peaceful.

Just after I finished cleaning up, someone came into the store. He was thin, well-mannered, and wore a pair of glasses.

"Give me a cup of Hanshan Cuixue!" he said as he sat down.

"Who drinks milk tea so early in the morning?" I rolled my eyes at him.

"I haven't finished talking yet." He walked into the display stand, took a piece of bread and started eating.

"You come to my place for free meals every day, you have to pay in the future," I joked.

"I don't have any money, but I have my life." He said shamelessly.

At this time, a girl pushed the door open and greeted me sweetly: "Good morning, sister."

"morning."

She changed into work clothes and came out to organize the shelves.

"Xiaorong, please look after the store for a while, we'll go out for a while." I said to her.

"good."

"Let's go, I'll take you to have breakfast." I pulled him out of the store.

Next to us is a breakfast shop.

Mao Jianming sat across from me, eating slowly and carefully. Yes, he is Mao Mao, and he is now a doctoral student in this city.

"Pretend." I said to him.

When he was in my shop, he ate like a pig, but now that he is outside, he has become more polite.

He didn't care and said, "Who is like you? You don't care about your image at all. You are a beautiful woman, but your style is a bit too rough."

"You're looking for death. Even eating can't shut your mouth." I picked up a steamed bun and stuffed it into his mouth.

Breakfast time passed quickly with laughter and chatter between the two of us.

After we finished eating, we returned to my bakery. He said he wanted to introduce me to a friend today, and I wanted to see what tricks he would play.

"You eat first, there are no customers right now." I brought a breakfast for Xiaorong as well.

"Thank you, sis."

Xiaorong is only sixteen years old this year. I heard she dropped out of school after junior high school and went out to work. Coincidentally, I was recruiting when I first opened my business, and I fell in love with her at first sight.

Mao Jianming and I sat by the window and waited.

Customers started to come to the store one after another. Seeing that Xiaorong was a little busy, I helped her sell things.

The door opened, and a strong man walked in. He had a stern face, a strong expression, and was dressed in camouflage uniform. The moment I saw him, I felt a very familiar feeling in my heart. I knew that this was the friend Mao Jianming wanted to introduce to me.

My guess was correct. He first looked around when he arrived at the store, then sat down next to Mao Jianming. They hugged like old friends who hadn't seen each other for a long time. Then Mao Jianming pointed his chin in my direction, motioning him to look at me. He followed Mao Jianming's direction, saw that I was busy, and gave me a simple smile.

I smiled back, and when I was done with my work, I pulled them both into the back of the store.

This is a private room for my personal use.

I sat in front of them both, my heart pounding.

He extended his broad palm to shake my hand. I shook his hand politely and said, "Have we met before?"

"You really don't remember anything?" he said in surprise.

"I'm sorry, I forgot everything that happened before." I was a little embarrassed.

But he gave me a very familiar feeling, just like Mao Jianming gave me.

"Zhang Song, do you still remember?" he said honestly.

What a familiar name.

I don't know why, but when I heard this name, I couldn't help but cry. Zhang Song glanced at Mao Jianming, meaning, what's wrong with her?

Mao Jianming handed me a tissue and explained to Zhang Song, "She was injured here ten years ago and doesn't remember a lot of things. She was like this when she first saw me."

Mao Jianming gestured with his head.

"I thought you were kidding me, but it turned out to be true. How did it happen?" Zhang Song asked with concern.

"Master Zhang said it has something to do with that kind of thing," said Mao Jianming.

"It's better to forget it, so she doesn't have to deal with those things all the time."

"Hey, what are you two talking about in front of me? What is that thing?" I burst into laughter. These two people acted as if I didn't exist.

The two of them kept silent. Mao Jianming coughed and said, "Then don't worry about it. Brother Song is coming. Where should we go to welcome him tonight?"

"What? You want to get it for free again?" I said to Mao Jianming.

"Just kidding, Brother Song, is there anything you like to eat?" I said to Wang Song with a smile.

They were both obviously surprised when they heard me call him Brother Song.

Mao Jianming said with a smirk, "Brother Song is really impressive."

"Haha, I didn't expect this either." Wang Song said excitedly.

Then he pretended to be an older brother and said, "Little sister, I'm not saying anything bad about you, but I'm new here, so how can I know what delicious food there is? Just order the expensive ones."

They are really a pair of foes. When they get together, they are a pair of funny people.

Time flies when I'm with good friends; a day goes by in the blink of an eye. I treated Wang Song and Mao Jianming to barbecue at a nearby barbecue stall. I originally wanted to take them to Hongbinlou, but Wang Song stopped me, saying he was just teasing me that morning. When friends get together, it doesn't matter what they eat.

As they ate and drank, I learned that Wang Song had performed well in the army and was retained, having been discharged a while ago for some reason. I also made an exception and had a beer today. It's not that I didn't want to, but I get a headache whenever I drink, so I usually don't drink at all.

In the end, they both drank until they were dizzy. Unexpectedly, Mao Jianming, who looked weak, could drink as much as Wang Song.

I helped the two drunk guys to hail a taxi on the street. At this time, my head started to ache slightly. This is the side effect of drinking. I must get home as soon as possible, otherwise the pain will get worse.

The two guys were half drunk. I looked out the car window at the dim streetlights outside. My memory is fuzzy. I only know that I lived in Tianshifu for the past few years, then moved down the mountain and opened a bakery with the help of a friend. Later, I met Mao Jianming, who lived in the same city. He said we were childhood friends, and I believed him because he had the same approachable aura as the people in Tianshifu, including Wang Song today.

The taxi arrived at my rented house quickly, and we got out and walked into the alley. The streetlights on this section of road had been broken a few days ago, and it was pitch black.

I supported them as we walked, and suddenly I felt a little scared. I looked ahead, and under the telephone pole, a person in red clothes with long hair covering her face appeared there. Behind her hair, her eyes were staring at me.
