Chapter 16

Chapter 16

Originally, the matter would have been over with an apology, but what happened later was simply horrifying.

By the end of the year, every household has a good harvest, and they hang up lights and decorations to celebrate.

I haven’t been able to eat meat for several years, but this year I can finally have a bite.

There were not many entertainment activities at that time. After eating the New Year’s Eve dinner, we just went to bed.

Just when everyone in the village fell asleep, Yang Baoku's grave suddenly moved.

Yang Baoku crawled out of the grave. He was covered with white hair, had long nails on his hands, and had a pair of green eyes. He followed the road back to his home.

Yang Ming's father heard someone banging on the door at night. He wondered who would be awake so late at night and asked, "Who is it?"

No one answered, but the banging on the door continued. Yang Ming's father was annoyed by the noise and cursed as he got up and opened the door.

He opened the door angrily and saw his father with white hair standing in front of the door.

Yang Baoku no longer behaved like a human being. He grabbed Yang Ming's father's neck and started biting him.

Yang Ming was woken up by his father's screams.

Yang Ming followed the sound and walked out, and saw his father being eaten by a white-haired zombie, which was actually a Rakshasa. He screamed and was so scared that he dared not move.

Perhaps it was the outburst of fatherly love. When Yang Ming's father saw Yang Ming sitting there, he actually broke free from Yang Baoku, pulled Yang Ming up and ran out.

After all, he had been severely injured by the bite, and he fell to the ground after running 20 or 30 meters. Before he died, his father told him to run quickly.

The Rakshasa behind him walked slowly towards Yang Ming's father. Yang Ming's father crawled on the ground and was finally caught by the Rakshasa. Yang Ming saw the Rakshasa lying on his father and tearing his flesh piece by piece, and he ran away crying.

Being a child, he or she will definitely run to the home of the villager he or she is most familiar with.

He stumbled along the way, skirted a mountainside, and finally arrived at his aunt's house. Yang Ming's aunt was Yang Xiaoxue, who had married and moved to the next village. When she saw Yang Ming running to her house crying, she initially thought Yang Ming had gotten into trouble and had been beaten by his father on New Year's Day.

But Yang Ming kept crying and couldn't speak. He was scared.

After waiting for Yang Ming to speak for a long time, more than half an hour had passed.

Yang Ming said that his father was eaten by something. Yang Xiaoxue thought that Yang Ming was just saying this in anger because he was beaten by his father. However, Yang Ming said again and again that his father was eaten, and Yang Xiaoxue began to feel scared.

When she heard Yang Ming say it was a white-haired monster, Yang Xiaoxue suddenly remembered that there was no grass growing on her father's grave.

Could it be that his father really became a Rakshasa?

Yang Xiaoxue said she would take her husband with her to take a look and asked Yang Ming to stay at home. The two of them took flashlights and went back to her parents' home along the mountain road.

Fog began to rise on the mountain, and the flashlights at that time were not very bright. At most, they could only illuminate four or five meters in front of them. Beyond that, they could not see clearly. They walked for more than twenty minutes until they reached Yang Ming's house, but they did not encounter the so-called Rakshasa. However, when Yang Xiaoxue stepped through the door, she used the flashlight to illuminate bloodstains.

The moment the bloodstains appeared, their hearts sank. They followed the trail until they saw a pool of blood not far from Yang Ming's house. Yang Xiaoxue's husband thought he had been eaten by a wolf.

Wolves back then were not as common as they are today and were almost invisible. In those days, wolves often ran into villages and ate the poultry and livestock raised by farmers, and even people were carried off.

Now that his eldest brother-in-law is not at home, and his nephew says that he was eaten by a white-haired monster, the first thing he thinks of is a wolf. As for things like Rakshasa, he doesn't believe in them.

The two people called out Yang Ming's father's name several times, but this call did not call anyone, but woke up other people in the village.

The villagers stood up and asked Yang Xiaoxue what was going on. They were all from the same village, and since the Yang family had once been kind to them, they naturally wouldn't stand idly by. After hearing Yang Xiaoxue's description, the villagers were a little frightened. After all, there had been rumors in the village that Yang Baoku was about to transform into a demon. He quickly called on the rest of the village to search for Yang Ming's father, but after searching the mountain for a long time, they couldn't find him.

However, while they were searching, Yang Ming suffered.

After Yang Xiaoxue left, Yang Ming trembled in fear at her home. About half an hour later, he heard a noise at the door. He was alone at home, it was dark, and he had just seen his father being eaten by a monster. How could he not be terrified? He hurried to open the door, only to see a hand with long nails, dripping with blood, peeking through the crack.

He suddenly remembered the monster that had eaten his father just now. He was so scared that he hid in the house and dared not move.

The door was pushed open, and the white-haired Rakshasa walked slowly towards Yang Ming.

Yang Ming didn't know where he got the strength from, but he bypassed the Rakshasa and ran out of the house. The Rakshasa hadn't eaten all of his family yet, so it wasn't mature yet and moved slowly, so Yang Ming actually ran away.

Yang Ming was so frightened that he didn't dare to make a sound and ran towards his home because he knew that his aunt was there.

Although the two families were separated by a mountainside, it wasn't far. Not long into their run, they saw someone on the mountain shouting their father's name. It was a villager who had come to help. When Yang Ming heard the voice, he shouted as if he had found a savior. The villagers heard Yang Ming's shouts and quickly came over with flashlights.

Seeing Yang Ming running out alone, he asked him what was going on.

Yang Ming said that the white-haired monster was following him.

When the villagers heard this, they quickly shone their flashlights behind Yang Ming.

He saw, on the distant road, a figure resembling a human, approaching. He suddenly remembered the Rakshasa incident, grabbed Yang Ming, and ran toward the village, shouting as he ran. People were on the nearby hills, and upon hearing his shouts, they gradually gathered. When they heard him say that Yang Baoku had turned into a Rakshasa, the villagers panicked.

Everyone said that Yang Ming’s father must have been eaten by Rakshasa.

However, Yang Xiaoxue's husband did not believe it, and in the end he had no choice but to seek a sense of security. A group of villagers came to Yang Baoku's grave. When they saw a big hole in Yang Baoku's grave, the Rakshasa was confirmed.

The villagers were in a panic. The Rakshasa existed only in legends, passed down for generations, but no one had ever seen one. Now the truth was staring them in the face, and they didn't know what to do. Yang Xiaoxue was the most frightened. She had heard the legend of the Rakshasa since she was a child, and she knew that the first people a Rakshasa would seek out after emerging from its grave would be her family.

In the end, it was the village chief who came up with an idea. If they ran, they would definitely not be able to escape. No matter how far they ran, the Rakshasa would catch up. Besides, it was dark now, and they couldn't run fast. The village finally had a harvest, and all the family's belongings were here, so they couldn't leave them.

"Although that Rakshasa is powerful, if all of us villagers gather together and light a fire, we can deal with it. I remember that when that thing first appeared, it was most afraid of fire." said the village chief.

After hearing this, the villagers all agreed, saying that the older generation had indeed said so.
