Chapter 84

Chapter 84

The scenery in the north is very different from that in the south. Xiaorong sat in the passenger seat, chattering all the way, very lively, and found everything she saw new and interesting.

Looking at her, I don't understand why she is so happy to be away from her parents. That's something I long for.

When we arrived at our village, she looked at the houses with curiosity. Our houses are different from those in Yingtan. The roofs are not flat, but in the shape of a "human".

"The house is a bit old. You can just stay here for two days. Once we find a suitable shop, we won't need to stay here anymore." I said to Xiaorong.

"It's okay, sister. I like it here very much." She said with a smile.

After a month of searching, we finally found a suitable store in Shishi. Due to our limited budget, we chose a store in the suburbs.

Fortunately, there is a subway station here and there are a lot of people.

Xiaorong and I rented a house nearby, on the third floor, at a very cheap price.

The landlady looked to be in her sixties and didn't look like the type to cause trouble. When she was showing us around houses, she was afraid that we wouldn't live there, so she talked incessantly for a long time.

As soon as I entered the house, I knew what she was up to. There was a sense of resentment building up there. This must be a haunted house.

But she probably didn't know what I did, and she kept talking about how nice the house was.

I pointed it out directly: "Someone has died in this house."

The landlord was obviously stunned and didn't know how I knew this.

After Xiaorong heard that someone had died in this house, she kept asking me to find another one.

The landlord said angrily, "Don't talk nonsense. How could anyone have died in this house? There are plenty of other people who can live here!"

Seeing her furious, and with Xiaorong's help, I said, "Don't worry, I mean we can live in this house, but the rent has to be cheaper."

When she heard we were willing to stay, and Xiaorong was still clamoring to find a new one, she made up her mind and said, "Little girl, I see you are also close to me. If you can rent my house, it means we are destined to be together. Then Auntie will give me a lower price."

So, we signed the contract, and after the landlord left, Xiaorong and I yelled "Yeah!"

It turns out that Xiaorong is very clever and had understood my intention long ago, so she was just acting.

A haunted house is unsuitable for ordinary people to live in, but what do I do? Why would I be afraid of a mere ghost? Just displaying my magical instruments will scatter the ghosts.

But I can't do that, because killing ghosts randomly will damage my virtue. The best way is to call it out and see if I can save it.

Xiaorong is now very brave. She is not afraid of ghosts at all when she hears about them. On the contrary, she wants to see how I exorcise them.

"I'll open your eyes tonight," I said.

The two of us started cleaning the room. Although the house had not been rented out for a long time, it was very clean overall. It seemed that the landlord cleaned it regularly.

Xiaorong and I finished the tidying up quickly, and all that was left was to wait for the shop to be renovated and officially opened. During this time, I also needed to apply for a business license, so I wouldn't be too busy.

At night, I pulled all the curtains. Xiaorong looked at me nervously. It seemed that she was just saying that she was not afraid.

I said to her, "If you're scared, just go out and play for a while. I'll fix it in a moment."

"No, I want to see what a ghost looks like." Xiaorong said stubbornly.

I didn't say anything else and started chanting the soul-calling spell.

Ever since the battle with the headless ghost, the energy in my body has changed again. It was white at first, then turned black, and now it has turned silver.

The properties of this energy also changed. It started as a righteous aura, then became a destructive force. Now, I have no idea what the properties of this energy are. Because it doesn't emit any aura, it is like a pool of stagnant water in my body.

Now, I don’t need any external aids to set up formations. I only need to use the energy in my body.

So I didn't prepare any flowers, water or other items for exorcism. I directly drew a circle with silver energy and then recited the soul-calling spell.

A short dark figure appeared in the circle, apparently a child.

Xiaorong is an ordinary person and can't see anything, but she can still feel the air getting colder.

I covered her eyes with my palms and attached energy to her eyes.

She opened her eyes again and saw the dark shadow in the circle. She was so scared that she grabbed my arm tightly and hid behind me, not daring to open her eyes to look again.

I patted her on the back and said, "Don't be afraid, it can't get out of that circle."

Only then did Xiaorong dare to open her eyes and look at the black shadow carefully.

I said to the shadow, "Why are you still staying in the human world? Do you know this is not the place for you?"

The shadow slowly changed, and finally turned into a little boy. Its body was black and purple, and its skin was covered with blood streaks.

"Sister, can you help me tell grandma that I don't blame her and that I want to be her grandson in the next life?" said the little boy.

"Who is your grandmother?" I asked.

"It's the person who came in with you today. I talked to her for a long time, but she couldn't hear me."

"Okay, sister promises you, but you need to leave the world immediately, okay?"

"Thank you, sister." It said politely.

Afterwards, it turned into a ball of black gas and disappeared into the circle.

"It's gone?" Xiaorong asked.

"Let's go," I said.

"You're not even afraid of this ghost." Xiaorong said, sticking out her tongue.

"That's because this child is not an evil ghost. People can be good or bad, and ghosts can be good or evil. Otherwise, it would not be so easy to communicate with him," I said.

Xiaorong and I were tired after a long day, so we took a shower and went to bed.

I was lying on the bed, thinking about the little boy. Actually, he hadn't left completely because he hadn't fulfilled his wish. It seemed that I had to call the landlord tomorrow to ask her what was going on.

I took out my phone, watched some short videos, and then fell asleep.

When I woke up the next day, the sun was already high in the sky. I must have been exhausted during this time, as I actually slept until after 10 o'clock.

I went into Xiaorong's room. She was still sound asleep. I woke her up and said, "Get up. We'll go eat later."

Xiaorong got up from the bed in a daze and went to the bathroom to wash up.

I called the landlord and told him I had something to do. He thought I had regretted it and kept saying on the phone that there would be no more houses this cheap in the whole city.

When she came over, I told her that last night, a little boy with bruises all over his body appeared in my dream and said that he didn't blame his grandmother and that he would be her grandson in the next life.

When the landlord heard this, tears immediately flowed down his face. It seemed that there must be a heartbreaking past between them.

I helped her to the sofa and asked her what was going on.

The landlord cried for a long time before he murmured, "My poor grandson, if it weren't for me, he wouldn't have died."

The landlord talked about her grandson, and after listening to her, I could only sigh that things in the world are unpredictable.

Not everyone can die of old age.
