Chapter 1011 Soros in Action!

Every year after the start of summer, Hong Kong experiences a lot of rain. Sometimes, the sky is clear one second and then it can be covered with dark clouds the next.

After the rain, the streets became even more deserted.

A few minutes later, a plump middle-aged man appeared on the street, running in through the rain while clutching his stomach.

Afang looked closely and realized it was her father. She quickly opened the door and exclaimed, "Dad! Where have you been all this time?"

As he shook off the rain, Afang's father said with a smile, "I'm back from your second uncle's house."

After saying that, he mysteriously pulled Afang's mother, Afang, and Chen Dong into the inner room.

"I pulled strings with so many people and used my family's savings to buy this..."

As he spoke, he took out a box from his pocket. The box had the logo of a certain bank on it. When he opened the box, there were two neatly arranged, gleaming gold pieces inside.

Chen Dong frowned. "Gold?"

This was the first time Afang and her mother had ever seen such a large piece of gold. Afang couldn't help but touch it. "It really is gold, Dad! Where did you get it?"

"Let's go to the bank!"

Afang's father became more and more excited as he spoke, "Your second uncle has connections at the bank, which is why he helped me exchange these two pieces of gold."

“Let me tell you, there have been a lot of rumors in Hong Kong lately. Some people say that Soros is about to attack the Hong Kong dollar and that it will soon depreciate. Others say that Soros will not attack the Hong Kong dollar because he asserted in a speech that the Southeast Asian crisis would not affect Hong Kong and the mainland.”

Afang's father said to Afang with a smug look, "No matter how the people above fight amongst themselves, we must protect the assets we have."

"Whether it's Soros attacking the Hong Kong dollar or the Southeast Asian financial crisis affecting the Hong Kong market, it is highly likely to trigger the devaluation of the Hong Kong dollar."

These words were spoken to him by people in the billiards room. Although he didn't understand the big picture, the principle was the same.

"So we exchanged our money for gold, and the market value of gold is stable."

Afang and her mother didn't understand these things. They only knew that exchanging money for real gold was indeed more reassuring than holding Hong Kong dollars in cash.
