Chapter 1031 A Great Relief!

Afang saw several people wearing white shirts and black trousers walk past outside the braised food shop.

Curious, I asked, "Why have I been seeing them so much these past few days?"

My second uncle glanced at it casually and then said, "I don't know what's going on, it seems to be an organization from out of town."

"How do you know it's an organization?" Afang asked.

Uncle pointed at the group of people outside the door, "Don't you even have this much sense? Didn't you see they were all wearing white shirts, black trousers, and Doc Martens?"

“People from Hong Kong, unless they are at work, would wear such thick boots and be dying of heat, so they must be from out of town.”

"Find someone." A Fang suddenly had a bad feeling. She lowered her head and secretly glanced at Chen Dong.

Xiao Lu is from the mainland. He came to Hong Kong because he was being chased. Could these people be looking for Xiao Lu? Ah Fang thought to herself.

"Clang!"

Afang lost her grip on the bowl and smashed the entire bowl of spices.

"I... it was an accident."

Chen Dong carefully pulled her aside and said, "I'm not blaming you. Go get a broom."

After tidying up the braised food shop, Afang walked towards the door with a heavy heart.

"Where are you going?" Chen Dong asked.

Afang said somewhat flusteredly, "I just dropped the spices, and I want to go to the spice shop to buy some more."

"Go."

As she hurriedly left the braised food shop, Afang saw two people wearing white shirts. She pretended to be nonchalant and followed behind them.

Immediately afterwards, the two men in white shirts turned and went into a fruit shop.

"Boss, can you take a good look and see if I've seen this person before?" one of them asked.

Afang pretended to be passing by while buying fruit. She glanced at the poster nervously and saw that it was a missing person notice with Chen Dong's photo on it. She panicked completely.

"Beautiful lady! Beautiful lady, what would you like to buy?" the proprietress asked.

Seeing that Afang was standing in front of the fruit stand without picking out any fruit, the proprietress asked her, "Would you like two oranges?"

"I...I'll take another look." Afang lowered her head nervously.

The man in the white shirt was still confirming with the boss, "You really haven't seen this person before."

"Never seen it before."

The two men in white shirts then left the fruit shop. Afang didn't dare follow them, afraid that they would notice her.

"We've been searching for two days now. Weren't we supposed to be locked into this area?" Wolong wondered.

Xiao Liu wiped his sweat and explained, "We traced the source of that phone number; it was in a phone booth."

“At that time, the phone booth served many customers every day. Some called relatives in Hong Kong, and some called relatives in the mainland. He paid for the phone calls in cash, so the trail went cold.”

"However, the people at the phone booth said that the person who made the call was wearing a regular short-sleeved shirt and seemed to be wearing yellow slippers when he arrived, so this person should live nearby."

It's so hot in Hong Kong right now. Wolong only walked around the streets twice and his forehead was already covered in sweat.

"Keep searching. If there are no clues, we can only use the most basic method."

Inside the braised food shop, Fang returned as soon as her second uncle left.

Seeing Afang's distraught appearance, Chen Dong hurriedly asked her, "Didn't you say you were going to buy spices? Why are you back?"

“I…” Afang scratched her head and gave a stiff smile, “I forgot to bring any money.”

"How stupid!"

"Forget it, I'll just go buy it myself. The store doesn't have enough star anise and cinnamon." Chen Dong said as he took money from the cashier. "I'll just buy all the spices I need for this month."

"Are you going out?" Afang asked nervously.

Chen Dong answered instinctively, "I need to buy spices, so of course I have to go out."

Afang quickly stopped him, "Actually, the business at the braised food shop hasn't been very good this month. We don't need to buy so many spices to keep at home. We can just buy them when we need them."

Hearing this, Chen Dong walked up to A Fang and looked her up and down. He squinted and asked, "What's wrong with you today? You're acting strangely."

Actually, Afang didn't want Chen Dong to leave because she already knew someone was looking for him. Afang didn't want them to find Chen Dong, or rather, she didn't want Chen Dong to leave.

This was a very selfish idea. Afang stopped Chen Dong in the shop, saying she wasn't feeling well, and closed the braised food shop early.

Chen Dong always listened to Afang, and this time was no exception.

Just as the "Closed" sign was hung on the gate, Xiao Liu and Old Fox passed by.

"These two streets are the closest to the phone booths; focus on checking them," the old fox instructed.

Xiao Liu took a stack of missing person posters and said, "I understand."

"I put these missing person notices in the shops on this street, asking the shop owners to help keep an eye out for them."

"The people at the phone booth said that the person who made the call was wearing slippers and walked over, so he probably lives nearby."

That evening, Afang's mother learned that Afang had closed the shop very early that day and was very angry.

"Half a day can bring in business. If you stay open for an extra half day, you can get at least ten more customers. Why did you close up shop so soon?"

Seeing that Afang was being scolded, Chen Dong quickly explained for her, "Aunt Cui, Afang wasn't feeling well today and didn't want to stay in the shop, so we closed early."

Upon hearing this, Afang's mother became even more furious.

"She's not feeling well, she can just rest in the backyard. You can still take care of the braised food shop, right?"
