It is unwise for those in power to suddenly invest such a large sum of money in the government just to predict a flood crisis that no one can prove in six months.
"Chen Dong, to be honest, we've known each other for quite a while, and I believe you about what you said about the impending catastrophic floods due to abnormal weather."
Old Lin first affirmed Chen Dong's sense of crisis, then he said with difficulty, "But if there is a flood in the future, we can just activate the emergency response plan then."
The Yangtze River region, including the southeastern coastal areas, is frequently affected by typhoons, torrential rains, and flood discharges, so they have more experience in dealing with floods.
Furthermore, over the years, they have practiced countless emergency response plans to cope with sudden floods, droughts, and earthquakes.
"Don't worry." Old Lin assumed that the flood danger Chen Dong mentioned was caused by a regular rainstorm. He reassured Chen Dong, "Even if the Yangtze River region really does experience flooding in the future, we have corresponding emergency response plans."
"As long as we take appropriate measures according to the flood level and implement the corresponding contingency plan, we can cope with the situation. These contingency plans are summarized by experts based on decades of flood control experience and combined with foreign flood control and rescue cases."
Chen Dong sighed and reminded Old Lin again, "You still don't believe me."
"The flood danger I'm referring to is not an ordinary flood, but a massive flood that could cause tens of millions of people in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River to lose their homes."
Chen Dong was always respectful in front of Elder Lin, so his sudden loss of composure this time puzzled Elder Lin.
“Since you insist on your point of view,” Lin Lao hesitated before Chen Dong said, “I will ask domestic meteorological experts to make an assessment of the extent of the disaster consequences caused by the abnormal weather.”
"However, I would like to remind you that I trust the experts' opinions on this matter."
The implication is that if the expert assessment finds nothing wrong, then everything else is out of the question.
“I understand,” Chen Dong immediately replied.
“But when you invite the experts,” Chen Dong said mysteriously in a low voice, “you should also invite a few experts in influenza epidemic control.”
Thinking Chen Dong was about to cause some trouble again, Old Lin asked warily, "Longteng wants to develop related industries?"
Chen Dong shook his head. "About a month ago, I sent my people to visit the chicken farm in Luk Fook Shan, Hong Kong, and they found that there were a large number of sick and dead chickens there."
"We suspect that a very serious outbreak of avian influenza has occurred in Hong Kong."
"Bird flu?!" Old Master Lin and his secretary exclaimed in surprise at the same time.
Food safety in Hong Kong is a matter of great importance to people's livelihoods, and they cannot afford to be careless about it.
Is your intelligence accurate?
Chen Dong silently took out a document from his briefcase. "This is all the data that my subordinates and I have collected from our investigations and interviews over the past month."
“We conducted spot checks on three chicken farms in Luk Fook Shan, as well as dozens of wet markets and hundreds of supermarkets of all sizes in the New Territories and Ching Long.”
Chen Dong then produced another document, “This is a table showing the changes in chicken prices this quarter, as well as the live poultry inventory at the chicken farm.”
"According to the data in the table, the live poultry stock in chicken farms is more than enough to meet Hong Kong's daily chicken demand, but the supply available to wet markets, supermarkets, and vendors is very limited."
"There's only one reason," Dong said, pointing to the data above and looking at Old Lin. "The people at the chicken farm fabricated the data; they don't actually have that many chickens."
"Please take another look at this data."
Following the direction Chen Dong pointed, Old Lin saw the chick purchase data from several chicken farms. The purchase data for chicks from just the three chicken farms in Liufushan alone reached more than 60,000 per month.
This doesn't even include the number of chicks they raise and hatch themselves in their factory.
"With such a large number of chicks, why did the data show 30,000 by the time they left the factory? That's an incredibly high attrition rate," Chen Dong mocked.
"But... why didn't they report this sudden outbreak of chicken plague?" Old Lin asked this question, but he already had the answer in his heart.
“It was the owner of the fish farm in Hong Kong who deliberately concealed the fact that he did so in order to evade the stringent quarantine procedures of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and the Hong Kong Centre for Disease Control,” Chen Dong replied.
Old Lin frowned, and with a heavy heart, he put down the documents in his hand. "I understand this matter. I will definitely report the relevant situation to the Department of Agriculture in the mainland and ask them to send someone to Hong Kong to investigate within the next two days."
"If such heinous cases really occur, I will definitely make these unscrupulous chicken farm vendors pay the price."
Old Lin's face was dark and gloomy, and Chen Dong felt a terrifying aura emanating from him.
"I'm not just worried about the spread of avian influenza and the resulting mass deaths of chickens," Chen Dong said with concern. "The influenza virus can mutate."
"Right now it may only be spreading among chickens and dogs, but if it spreads to humans in the future, it could very likely cause a more serious outbreak."
Old Lin then realized, "The dangers of avian influenza should not be underestimated!"
"Chen Dong, I will definitely take this matter seriously, don't worry."
"I'm counting on you, Elder Lin."
After finishing his sentence, Chen Dong quickly left his office.
Afang's marketing department procurement team launched a large-scale procurement campaign around the world, which attracted the attention of many financial giants.
Upon learning this news, Memphis thought slyly, "Could Dong be planning to hoard goods in China and drive up prices?"
