Lin Yifeng scoffed, "That girl must have gone to the convenience store to buy food. That gluttonous girl, she spends all her money on food every day."

Bai Yejin instinctively wanted to put on a smile, but she seemed to think of something and immediately stopped smiling, then looked at Lin Yifeng expressionlessly.

Lin Yifeng was amused, thinking to himself, "What delicious food hasn't your sister-in-law eaten? How could she possibly be interested in the delicious food you bought for 40 cents?"
Besides, snacks were very scarce in those days. In Lin Yifeng's memory, there weren't even spicy strips in 1992.
Snacks were things like pagoda-shaped candies and a penny's worth of iced sweet water.
Lin Xiuxiu ran too fast for Lin Yifeng to see what she bought. He ignored the two women, one big and one small, and continued to bury himself in writing his novel.
About ten minutes later, a bowl with a rich aroma of noodles was brought out from the kitchen. The person who brought the food was Bai Yejin. She came to the table where Lin Yifeng was writing his novel and placed the bowl on the table.
Lin Yifeng peeked out.
I laughed.
"Third brother, Xiao Jin."
"You guys are living a really good life! Not only can you eat instant noodles, but there's even an egg in your bowl!"
"I have a question, Third Brother, I only gave you four cents, where did you get the money to buy instant noodles?"
When Lin Yifeng asked her a question, Lin Xiuxiu actually mimicked Bai Yejin and responded with a "humph".
The two women, one big and one small, actually teamed up to ignore Lin Yifeng, which Lin Yifeng found strange. Looking at the instant noodles in his bowl and the egg in them, he felt that today was a special day.
What special day is it?
Lin Yifeng didn't know.
Is August 13th some kind of special day?
Lin Yifeng thought for a moment but couldn't recall what special day it was, although he was already quite vague about the exact dates of his second and third sons' birthdays.

He looked at Bai Yejin, whose face was tense and devoid of any smile, put down his notebook, and tapped his fingers on the table: "Xiaojin, today is your birthday!"

Bai Yejin, who had been a little upset, finally cheered up.
