Beside the vendor, a snotty-nosed child looked at the white hibiscus in front of him and couldn't help but praise it.
"Sister, you are so beautiful."
Bai Yejin blushed as she looked at the child.
"You look good too."
Whether it was because of the child's praise or her date with Lin Yifeng, Bai Yejin was in a good mood the whole way, pointing at the surrounding buildings and chattering away with questions.
"What's this?"
"It should be a theater, there are quite a few people here who like Peking Opera."
"That one?"
"They must sell sweets in Kyoto, shall we go in and take a look?"
Bai Yejin nodded vigorously like a chick pecking at rice, and Lin Yifeng led her into the "Daoxiangcun" pastry shop.
The room was filled with the aroma of pastries and sesame seeds.
Various bright red gift boxes filled every corner of the store, along with rows of pastries on the tables, making Bai Yejin somewhat lost in thought.
This was the first time she had ever heard of such an exquisite traditional pastry shop.
Lin Yifeng smiled slightly.
No one dislikes sweets, especially Bai Yejin, who is still young.
Little girls would definitely be interested in all sorts of pastries.
“Let’s buy a few boxes and take them back for Zhou Xuelan and the others to try.”
"Take one back as a gift for your aunt and the others."
"Give me two of each of these gift sets."
Lin Yifeng stood in front of the counter and pointed to the combination pastry set inside.
Just as Lin Yifeng was preparing to select some other things to buy for Bai Yejin to eat on the way.
A small hand kept tugging at the hem of her clothes.
Bai Yejin watched Lin Yifeng shake his head anxiously and forcefully dragged him outside.
Lin Yifeng was slightly puzzled, but Bai Yejin quickly lowered her voice and reminded him.
"I won't buy it! I won't buy it!"
"Too expensive!"
"This is clearly a scam targeting us out-of-towners!"
Lin Yifeng was slightly taken aback. He looked down at the price list and felt both amused and exasperated.
To be honest, in 1992, Daohuaxiang confectionery was not cheap, after all, it was a well-known old brand in Kyoto.
A simple piece of jujube cake costs 3 yuan. In Muye City, 3 yuan could probably buy a pound of it.
Not to mention the two gift boxes Lin Yifeng chose, each containing a variety of pastries, but each gift box cost 40 yuan.
In Bai Yejin's eyes, these pastries were edible, but definitely not worth the price.
Under Bai Yejin's urging, Lin Yifeng only bought one box at most to take back to Zhou Xuelan and the others to try. Bai Yejin was already a little unhappy when he wanted to buy more, feeling that Lin Yifeng was wasting money.
Lin Yifeng couldn't persuade Bai Yejin to save money, so he had no choice but to leave the shop with a gift box.
Once outside, Bai Yejin grumbled softly.
"What are the prices like in Kyoto?!"
"These few pieces of pastry cost us 40!"
"40 yuan could buy Lin Xiuxiu a cake, enough for her to eat until she's sick of it!"
Lin Yifeng reached out and ruffled Bai Yejin's hair.
"You're at least a moderately wealthy woman!"
Don't worry about these things so much.
"If I lose money, I can earn it back."
Bai Yejin pouted and complained unhappily.
"Even if you have money, you can't spend it like that!"
As a man, who doesn't like a thrifty and hardworking woman? Especially with Bai Yejin's personality, she didn't want Lin Yifeng to waste too much money on her.
Since they weren't allowed to buy things randomly, Lin Yifeng simply took Bai Yejin for a casual stroll around the streets.
Let's see if there's anything else we can buy to take back for everyone to eat.
Halfway through, a straight alley leading deep into the alley caught Bai Yejin's attention.
People come and go at the entrance of the alley, while the walls on both sides are made of antique blue stone, and shouts can be heard from inside from time to time.
There were still many people squeezing into the alley.
Lin Yifeng saw Bai Yejin stop and glanced in the direction she was looking.
This is a small commercial street in Kyoto, probably planned by the local tourism bureau to attract tourists.
The decorations on both sides are more in the traditional style, with many shops of all sizes.
Between the shops, there are also many local Kyoto vendors setting up stalls, calling out to passing tourists in their Kyoto accents.
"Let's go? Let's go take a look!"
Lin Yifeng asked with a smile.
Bai Yejin nodded excitedly.
Upon entering the alley, Bai Yejin looked around curiously.
This place was different from other places she had been to; it lacked the commercial bustle and instead had a strong local character.
This commercial street is home to all sorts of people.
There are people selling all sorts of "miracle drugs," and many others displaying various handmade wooden ornaments.
The most amazing thing is that not long after you walk in, you see a string of fortune-telling stalls.
These fortune tellers seemed to be mass-produced, with a "divine divination" in their left hand and a "dust whisk" in their right, two small mustaches and a goatee, wearing black round sunglasses, touching the prime minister's face for customers in front of their stalls.
"Young lady, would you like your fortune told? No charge if it's inaccurate!"
"Know the heavens, know the earth, know all things."
“Young lady, I think you and I are destined to be together. Why don’t you come here and have your fortune told?”
At the entrance of the fortune-telling stall, an old man stroked his beard and was calling out to Bai Yejin.
Bai Yejin immediately became alert and distanced herself from the stall.
Seeing that Bai Yejin wasn't fooled, the old man suddenly adopted a mysterious and unfathomable demeanor.
"Young lady, to be honest..."
"I just did a quick calculation with my fingers."
