The streets were lined with all sorts of signs, and the ground was littered with empty bottles. There were even quite a few people who had been drunk all night, fast asleep on the street corner.
Meng Ran frowned as she looked at the homeless people on the street.
"This can't compare to what we have over there."
Lin Yifeng smiled but didn't say anything.
He knew this road all too well; he had a very famous name for it.
Causeway Bay!
When Lam Yat-fung first saw those things, he always thought Causeway Bay was a city or a district.
I never imagined this was just a street.
And just as Lin Yifeng had imagined, there were quite a few shady-looking people loitering around the entrance, intimidating the surrounding businesses.
Yang Biaozi frowned when he saw this group of people.
"These bastards."
"Wait another three years."
"See if I don't teach you a lesson."
Yang Biaozi harbored a great deal of resentment towards these gangsters.
The group of people who went to Hong Kong were most worried about two types of people: customs patrolmen and local thugs from Hong Kong.
This group of people were hoping to get rich overnight, and they caused Yang Biaozi a lot of trouble back then.
Later, Yang Biaozi also had to spend money to bribe officials in order to be able to run his sea voyage business smoothly.
In Hong Kong, if you want to do this kind of business, you have to find a place to "pay respects," otherwise all sorts of troubles will come your way.
Lin Yifeng was used to this; there were plenty of these kinds of people in China, all of them just a bunch of people collecting protection money.
However, it is clear that there are more and more diverse items here.
When the car pulled up in front of a hotel in the East District, Yang Biaozi paid the driver and gave him a tip.
He couldn't help but curse a couple of times when he got off the bus.
"These idiots, they don't learn anything good."
"Learn to ask those foreigners for tips."
"Damn it."
Lin Yifeng smiled but didn't say anything.
The hotel Yang Biaozi found was pretty good, located in the bustling eastern district, with a complex street scene downstairs. After checking in, the receptionist looked at Lin Yifeng with curiosity.
Lin Yifeng could guess that she was probably wondering what a mainland Chinese like him was doing in Hong Kong.
Lin Yifeng smiled at her and then led Meng Ran and Yang Biaozi upstairs.
Three rooms were booked in total because the Hong Kong exhibition season is coming up in October, and companies from all over Asia will be coming here, so the prices are naturally not low.
A single room costs around 600 yuan, and that's for a three-star hotel.
For more luxurious international hotels, the prices would be over a thousand yuan.
However, Yang Biaozi did not choose such nice hotels, mainly because these hotels were far from the area where he was conducting business, and also because checking into these hotels was more troublesome.
Upon entering the room, Lin Yifeng sat on the edge of the hotel bed, looking down at Hong Kong below.
After packing up their things, Meng Ran and Yang Biaozi also rushed to Lin Yifeng's room.
"Yifeng, what's the plan for this afternoon?"
Meng Ran lit a cigarette and sized up Lin Yifeng in the distance.
Yang Biaozi also looked at him with some curiosity.
Lin Yifeng turned around and glanced at the two of them, then spoke up to give them instructions.
"Don't worry, the person they contacted will come to us tomorrow."
"Let's just wander around today."
"We'll start getting busy tomorrow."
Yang Biaozi and Meng Ran exchanged a glance.
Since there wasn't much to do in the afternoon, Yang Biaozi suggested taking the two of them out for a stroll, but Lin Yifeng declined, finding it too troublesome, and they rested at the hotel instead.
Meng Ran was reluctant to go, but Lin Yifeng gave him some money to buy some gifts and souvenirs to take back.
Meng Ran had no choice but to go out with Yang Biaozi to the mall to experience what the most prosperous Hong Kong of this era was like.
The day passed simply like that.
The next morning, Lin Yifeng had just gotten up when someone came to his door looking for him.
When Lin Yifeng opened the door, a man wearing a short-sleeved shirt looked at him with surprise.
"You're Lin Yifeng?"
"Yes, that's me."
Looking at the salesperson's attire, Lin Yifeng could roughly guess that this guy was someone arranged by Wei Yuxian.
The other party looked at Lin Yifeng in front of him and handed him his business card very respectfully.
"Hello, I am Zhang Jisheng from Macheng Film and Television."
Lin Yifeng took the business card and invited the other party into the room.
After arriving at the room, Lin Yifeng had a brief conversation with the other party and quickly learned about their background.
This guy currently works for a small film and television company in Hong Kong.
Compared to those large corporations, this company is just a tiny little company.
However, he wasn't the person Wei Yuxian arranged to connect with Lin Yifeng. His main job was to introduce Lin Yifeng to another group of people.
These are the people who are truly capable of cooperating with Lin Yifeng and his team.
A short while later, Meng Ran got up and went to Lin Yifeng's room.
Upon seeing Zhang Jisheng, Meng Ran instinctively became wary and deliberately stood at the doorway.
After a brief chat, Meng Ran understood and took the initiative to interject and ask questions.
When do we set off?
Zhang Jisheng paused for a moment, then smiled at Meng Ran.
"This afternoon?"
"They only start work in the afternoon."
Hearing this, Lin Yifeng was also a little curious.
A movie company that opens in the afternoon?
An ominous premonition had already risen in his heart.
Lin Yifeng always felt that this film company was not as simple as it seemed.
After saying goodbye to Zhang Jisheng in the morning, around noon, Meng Ran noticed that Yang Biaozi hadn't gotten up yet and was whispering to Lin Yifeng inside the room.
