Chapter 1097: The Unlucky Soldier is Confused (Part 1)

An old soldier, fully armed, sat in the troop carrier with a cigarette in his mouth.

The APC shook but failed to dislodge the ash from his mouth.

A young soldier next to Taiji looked a little pale.

"Rookie Jerry!" The old soldier grinned, "Have you written a suicide note to your fiancée? There are at least a division of Dam soldiers in Helar."

"Shut up, Moron!" Koster, the captain of the squad, shouted across from the veteran. "We have the M1 in front of us, but the Marmots don't have heavy weapons. Everyone, cheer up, we will get home safely."

This is an American-based infantry formation. After entering Gerard, they will, like many other teams, advance little by little, clearing the buildings in the city until they finally control the entire city.

It's just like in the movie Saving Private Ryan, the difference is that their equipment is much better, with artillery fire in the front and tanks leading the way in the back.

Moreover, they can go directly into the city in armored vehicles, which will block bullet attacks for them. Although the safety cannot be said to be perfect, at least they have an extra turtle shell.

Captain Coster knows that he has new recruits under his command, and he has to make everyone in the team play a role.

The attack, which was supposed to start yesterday, was delayed by a day. Even an old hand like Scott didn't know the reason.

The entire grassroots of the old American army was blocked from the news. No one knew that their equipment was lost, and they had no idea what they would face next.

Andrew sent two brigades of infantry, coordinated with tanks and other offensive forces, to attack Gerard.

There are many veterans like Koster, and they all tell their teammates that Helar does not have heavy weapons, so this operation will be easy and smooth.

The troops advanced smoothly. Scott was able to see friendly forces outside through the observation port, the ruins outside the city, and the tracks of a tank in the left front.

Suddenly, sparks appeared in front of Koster's eyes, and then he heard a loud explosion, followed by the shock wave that almost overturned the car.

"Oh, damn, what the hell?"

"Mom, what blew up?"

“Oh my god…”

"......"

The interior of the troop carrier was instantly in chaos.

Scott shook his head, which had just hit the inside of the car hard.

"Quiet!" Scott lay on the observation port and saw that the M1 main battle tank had turned into a fireball.

The originally quiet route was now filled with artillery fire, with countless shells falling and vehicles being hit from time to time.

"Site, how could they have artillery!" As Scott shouted, the troop carrier stopped. Scott immediately opened the rear door and knocked on the inside of the vehicle. "Dogs and dogs, get out of the car and find shelter. We are under fire!"

The team members got off the car one after another, and the veterans found shelters to hide, and many of them hid in the bomb craters.

"Boss, something's wrong!" Morn, who was shrinking his neck, was not panicking at all. He turned his head and shouted to Scott, "Where did they get the artillery? From the noise, the caliber is not small. It's a 155mm howitzer. We have never encountered it before."

They had already fought a war before coming here, otherwise there would be no new recruits coming in.

But it is precisely because of their experience that they find it strange.

"Don't ask me, I don't know!" Scott was a little worried. "This is fucking hell, the groundhogs have strong firepower, we can only hope that our artillery... Shit..."

He was halfway through his words when he noticed something unusual and saw with his own eyes traces of a shell passing over his head.

"Boss, we are finished!" Morn grinned, "Our artillery is finished, damn, those people in the staff are all idiots, and the people in the reconnaissance battalion are also idiots..."

Complaints like this are common among grassroots troops and are not unique to Scott's squad.

The shelling lasted for a while and then stopped. It was obviously shorter than the previous artillery fire from the Americans. At this time, the Americans' retaliation came, but it was much more sparse.

Scott and his friends saw a helicopter coming.

"Haha, our Black Hawk!" Moren looked up at the helicopter above his head and shouted, "Clear the artillery position at a specific point and kill them..."

But he was soon disappointed, as these Black Hawks were obviously not going for combat but for reconnaissance.

"Guys, it's our turn!" Scott retracted his gaze and jumped out of the crater. "Come on, doggie, doggie, move forward quickly."

This place was not far from Helar, and their armored vehicles were disabled, so they had no choice but to walk.

Scott's team advanced quickly. There were many teams advancing on foot like them. Soon Scott and his team caught up with a tank, and the infantry and tank advanced in coordination.

There are no city walls in Helar. According to the deployment, Scott and his team will start clearing along the right side of the road after entering with the tanks.

"Disperse..." Scott, who had been observing while moving, suddenly shouted.

Before he could finish his shout, a shell flew towards the tank in front of them.

"Oh, oh, mother..." After the explosion, the soldier named Jerry lay on the ground, screaming miserably as he looked at his right leg with blood gushing out.

There were casualties before we even entered the city.

"Medic, medic, damn, there are wounded here..." Scott yelled while taking out the first aid kit to help Jerry deal with the wound, "Kid, you'll be fine, press the wound, use force..."
