Chapter 17 Work Arrangement

Over the weekend, Sun Dajiang and his family dressed neatly and prepared to return to their hometown to discuss with his brother-in-law how to finalize the job offer as soon as possible, lest things get complicated.

After a brief period of busy work, the group took their gifts and headed straight to the station.

At the entrance of Dongxiang Village, Sun Dajiang and his family encountered Lin Hong, who was about to go hunting in the mountains.

"dad"

"Grandpa is great x3".

"Hey, hello everyone, Dajiang, what brings you here today?"

Lin Hong said happily.

"Dad, it's the weekend today, the factory is closed. Is my older brother home? He'll have some good news to tell him later. You'll be very happy to hear about it when you get home."

Lin Wencui said with a mysterious expression.

"Okay, I'll go up the mountain to check the harvest first. I'll invite my in-laws to lunch together and see what good things you have to do, all this secretive stuff."

"Keep it a secret. Just make sure you order a lot of dishes today. I promise you'll be happy."

After they finished speaking, the Sun brothers, Zhengguo and Lin Hong, decided to go up the mountain together and parted ways at the village entrance.

When Sun Dajiang returned home, he was happy to see his family. He greeted them warmly, and his parents were also delighted to see their son return. The meeting was filled with laughter and joy.

After a conversation, Sun's father understood the purpose of Sun Dajiang's trip. As for the job, his family didn't need it, so giving it to Lin Hong's family was fine. The two families had such a good relationship, like brothers, so he didn't say much, for fear that his daughter-in-law would misunderstand.

Lin Wencui secretly breathed a sigh of relief after hearing what Sun's father said; it was good that no conflict had arisen.

It was almost noon.

The Lin family's house was already full of people. As usual, adults sat at one table and children at another. However, during the meal, Lin Jiguo was called to the adults' table by Lin Wencui.

“Come, Ji Guo, sit here with your aunt. We’re talking about you today, so come and listen.”

Sun Zhengguo smiled and quickly gave Lin Jiguo a wink.

Lin Jiguo scratched his head, feeling confused, and thought, "What does this have to do with me?" However, he still obediently sat down.

"Little sister, Dad said you wanted to see me when he got back. He was being very mysterious. You're not going to introduce Ji Guo to someone, are you? Your nephew is so young."

"Hahaha……"

As soon as Lin Wenjun finished speaking, it caused the people at both tables to burst into laughter.

Lin Jiguo was so embarrassed that his face turned completely red, and he kept waving his hands.

"Brother, you've misunderstood. Let Dajiang explain it to you."

"Okay, Dajiang, tell me, how old is that girl, and where is she from?"

Lin Wenjun said with a laugh, making a joke.

Sun Dajiang was completely bewildered, "That girl... there's no girl here."

"Let's get down to business," Sun Dajiang continued.

"Here's the thing, our steel rolling mill has become a joint state-private enterprise. I have a job opening that I was going to give to Ji Guo, which is why I came back to discuss it with you."

As soon as he finished speaking, Lin Wenjun stood up abruptly. His wife was also shocked. Such a good thing! It's like a pie falling from the sky!

"What? This job is going to be given to Ji Guo? This...this...but..."

Lin Wenjun was so excited that he was almost incoherent.

“Brother, please sit down first. This job is for Ji Guo. As long as he is willing to do it, the job is his and no one can take it away from him.”

Sun Dajiang said with certainty.

"Uncle, I'll go, I'll definitely go. Don't worry, I'll work hard and make money to take good care of you and Aunt."

Lin Jiguo quickly expressed his opinion, saying that this opportunity was too rare.

Everyone present knew that as long as Lin Jiguo wasn't stupid, he would go. How much could one earn in a year by struggling to make a living in the countryside? Besides, after becoming a permanent employee at the steel mill, his household registration would also be transferred to the city, and he would then receive a ration of grain.

You can't blame Lin Wenjun for being excited; blame Sun Dajiang. The pancake Sun Dajiang fed him was so delicious, who wouldn't be tempted? This is a classic case of a carp leaping over the dragon gate!

Lin Hong was also very excited. It's so difficult for rural people to leave their hometowns. Thanks to this son-in-law, he had originally planned to let his grandson learn a trade, but now his eldest grandson has a job.

After everything was settled, Lin Wenjun and his wife helped Lin Jiguo pack his things. In the afternoon, they returned to the city with Sun Dajiang, hoping to get a job as soon as possible.

The two families were very tacit and neither of them talked about giving money. Just like when they gave Sun Zhengguo ginseng, they were really close relatives, and talking about money would make them feel awkward.

In the afternoon, Sun Dajiang and his family returned to the courtyard house, accompanied by Lin Wenjun and his son. After dinner, the group made do with sleeping on the floor for the night.

The next morning, Mr. and Mrs. Sun, along with Mr. and Mrs. Lin Wenjun, arrived at the steel rolling mill, presented their letter of introduction, went to the personnel department, and went directly to the deputy section chief.

The deputy head of the personnel department personally handled the onboarding procedures, arranged dormitory accommodation, and provided work uniforms. The whole process was completed in half an hour.

It has to be said that Sun Dajiang and his wife do have some connections in the factory. If it were someone else, they wouldn't have been able to finish the business in less than a morning.

In the afternoon, at the gate of the steel rolling mill, several people were saying goodbye.

"Dajiang, Wencui, I'm entrusting Jiguo to you. If he doesn't do a good job and causes trouble, you guys just give him a good beating. This kid is tough and can take a beating."

"Hey, big brother, it's not that serious. Ji Guo looks like an obedient child. Don't worry, I'll definitely take good care of him and arrange the best mentor for him."

Sun Dajiang said with absolute certainty.

"Don't worry, brother. He's our own nephew. We won't let him suffer any injustice."

Lin Wencui also spoke from the side.

“Ji Guo, you must listen to your aunt and uncle from now on, work hard, and when you have money, take good care of your aunt and uncle. Dad is leaving, so you can keep this.”

After Lin Wenjun finished speaking, he took a stack of banknotes, put them into Lin Jiguo's pocket, waved his hand, and said, "I'm leaving."

"Take care, brother! Come visit again anytime."

Only after their figures disappeared into the distance did the three return to the steel rolling mill.

Office of the Electrical Engineering Department, Steel Rolling Mill.

"Sit down, Ji Guo. Here are two books and a notebook of mine. Take a look. They contain basic electrical knowledge. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Don't be shy, we're all family."

Lin Jiguo obediently took the book and said happily.

"Thank you, Uncle. I will watch carefully."

"Okay, you can study in my office today. You'll officially start work tomorrow, and I'll give you a formal introduction and find you a good mentor. You should study hard and try to become a full-time employee as soon as possible."

"Uncle, you're a senior electrician, is there anyone more skilled than you? I want to learn from you."

Lin Jiguo asked, puzzled.

"You silly boy, in the entire electrical engineering sector, only your uncle is a senior electrician. Who is better than me? The key is that you not only need to learn the theory, but also need to go to the workshop for practical experience. Your uncle doesn't get many opportunities to work these days. I will only step in if it's something that others can't do. You won't learn anything from me, do you understand?"

Lin Jiguo nodded, indicating that he understood.
