Chapter 95 The Fish Has Become a Spirit

"Zhengguo, Mom and Dad have gone to work. You guys stay home and don't wander around."

Every day when she goes to work, Lin Wencui has to give the same instructions, and the children are tired of hearing them.

"knew!"

The children answered in unison.

Lin Wencui was very satisfied with the attitude of the group.

Little did they know, the moment the couple left, the people inside started making a ruckus, discussing where to go for fun!

"Brother, where are you planning to go today?"

Sun Zheng'an asked with a fawning expression, "There's nothing I can do! Sun Zhengguo often prefers to act alone."

"You guys don't have anything to do today. I've already made plans to go fishing with Uncle San. Are you still going?"

The two siblings looked distressed when they heard they were going fishing.

"Why are we going fishing again? It's so boring. Can't we do something else?"

Sun Zhenghong hated fishing the most, and said with some dissatisfaction.

"The old man already agreed on this yesterday. Besides, isn't fishing at Shichahai fun?"

Having already made the appointment, the brother and sister had no choice but to go fishing together.

Sun Zhengguo prepared the bait, picked up the fishing rod, and the group went to Yan Bugui's house.

"Uncle, is it done yet? Hurry up."

"Jung-guk! Everything's ready, let's go."

No sooner had he finished speaking than Yan Bugui came out of the house carrying a small bag.

Upon seeing Yan Bugui, the two siblings greeted him in unison, "Good morning, Third Uncle!"

"Good morning! Zheng'an and Zheng Hong are out having fun too!"

Seeing that the two siblings were also going, Yan Bugui felt a little sorry that he wouldn't be able to get a ride today.

"Yes! Uncle San, they have nothing to do at home. There aren't enough cars today, so let's hurry up."

Sun Zhengguo was fully aware of Yan Bugui's little schemes, but he simply chose not to expose them.

"Yes, yes, yes! We're leaving now."

After Yan Bugui finished speaking, he picked up his fishing rod, and the group left the courtyard and headed towards Shichahai.

Along the way, the brother and sister skipped and hopped happily ahead, while Sun Zhengguo and Yan Bugui walked behind, exchanging fishing experiences.

Fifteen minutes later, the group arrived at Shichahai and saw that many elderly men and young men had already gathered there to fish.

In those days, resources were scarce, and ordinary people rarely ate meat. Fishing became the only shortcut for everyone to improve their lives, but how many people could actually catch fish? Most of them were out of luck.

The two were already used to seeing so many people. They found a quiet spot, took out stools, baited their hooks, and started fishing.

Soon, half an hour passed, and Sun Zhengguo stared at the lake until his eyes were blurry, but unfortunately, there was no movement at all.

Yan Bugui, standing next to him, wasn't much better off. He kept complaining that there were too many people fishing, and he didn't even know if there were any fish left in Shichahai.

Yan Bugui's complaints aroused the dissatisfaction of an old man next to him, who immediately retorted.

"What, does this Shichahai Lake belong to you? If you think there are too many people, you can leave! Nobody's stopping you. This is really ridiculous."

The old man's words frightened Yan Bugui into silence. Looking at the old man's clothes and the guards behind him, he was clearly an official, and not a low-ranking one at that.

"We can't afford to offend them, we can't afford to offend them!"

Yan Bugui silently prayed that he wouldn't attract this man's attention.

The old man next to him, seeing that Yan Bugui had behaved himself and hadn't made a fuss, sat there fishing and everyone went back to being at peace.

Seeing Yan Bugui's discomfiture, Sun Zhengguo chuckled inwardly, "Serves you right for being so cheeky. You've offended someone you can't afford to mess with. Now you're behaving yourself!"

After the dispute subsided, everyone returned to calm. Seeing that he had not made any progress, Sun Zhengguo wondered if he should use the space to get off to a good start.

After thinking about it again, I decided against it. Fishing is all about enjoyment. If it requires using up space, I might as well not fish at all and just stay at home.

Ten minutes passed, and finally the float stirred. Sun Zhengguo's eyes lit up. He calmed himself down and waited for the float to rise again before decisively setting the hook.

"Whoosh!"

With the sound of the fishing rod being lifted, a small crucian carp, about the length of a palm, thrashed about in the air. Sun Zhengguo quickly reeled in the line, took the fish, put it in a small bucket, added bait, and continued fishing.

"Hehe! Brother, this fish is too small, it's not even enough to fill a tooth gap."

Sun Zhenghong, standing next to him, said with a look of disgust.

"Go away, go play somewhere else. You think fishing is that easy? Look how many people have empty seats!"

Sun Zhenghong didn't believe her brother's words. Anyone could sit there pretending and not move!

"Hmph! It's just fishing, isn't it? Anyone can do that! I can do it too."

Seeing that his sister was still arguing with him, Sun Zhengguo grinned mischievously.

"Why don't you try fishing? Let me see your prowess as the fishing king of Shichahai."

"Fine, I'll fish then. I don't believe it's that hard."

Sun Zhenghong continued to argue stubbornly, she refused to believe that she would still refuse to eat hairy pigs even without Zhang the butcher.

Offense and defense are reversed!

Sun Zhengguo stood aside and watched. Sun Zhenghong sat down at the fishing spot and, imitating his brother, baited the hook and cast the line, then just watched quietly.

Seeing his younger sister fishing, Sun Zhengguo could tell she was a complete novice. He even offered her some pointers, but she remained unmoved and instead mocked him, saying, "Go ahead and do it her way, go cool off somewhere else!"

Helpless, Sun Zhengguo could only step aside and chat with his younger brother.

Perhaps influenced by the "newbie rule," Sun Zhenghong, who was fishing for the first time, noticed that the float suddenly sank. She didn't know how to handle this situation, but she knew that a fish had taken the bait, so she ignored it and pulled the rod with both hands.

"Buzz!"

As soon as the rod is lifted, the fishing line immediately straightens and moves quickly back and forth on the water's surface.

Caught off guard, Sun Zhenghong was pulled and nearly fell into the river. Instinctively, he gripped the fishing rod tightly with both hands and refused to let go.

The fishing rod was now bent into a bow shape, and the fishing line was moving back and forth. Sun Zhenghong had never seen anything like this before, so he quickly called for help.

"Brother, come quick! This fish is a spirit! Please save me!"

Sun Zhenghong's shouts attracted a lot of attention from the surrounding area. Sun Zhengguo, of course, heard them and quickly ran over.

"Don't be afraid, I'll do it!"

Ignoring his sister's comfort, Sun Zhengguo took the fishing rod from her and began to methodically apply and retract the rod, while Sun Zhenghong stood excitedly to the side, her hands still trembling.

After ten minutes of playing the fish, Sun Zhengguo put a seven- or eight-pound grass carp into the bucket, drawing envious glances from onlookers.

Yan Bugui watched the whole process from the side and felt extremely sad. How long had it been since he had seen such a big fish? How could it be caught by a novice girl?

"Sigh! Let's keep fishing! Hopefully, we'll have a good catch today."

Yan Bugui silently encouraged himself!
