In the front yard, Mr. and Mrs. Sun had just returned home from get off work, and the family was preparing to have dinner.
Before the family could even sit down at the table, Liu Haizhong rushed over.
"Uncle, you've already eaten. What brings you here to visit me?"
Sun Dajiang said politely.
"Section Chief Sun, I haven't eaten yet. I have something to tell you."
Seeing that Liu Hai was in trouble, Sun Dajiang decided not to eat and went outside.
"Speak! What is it?"
Liu Haizhong had no choice but to tell the truth, hoping that Sun Dajiang could organize and arrange for people in the hospital to help look for the missing person.
Sun Dajiang knew that losing someone was a big deal, and now that he was a senior official, he couldn't just ignore it.
"Second Uncle, wait a moment, I'll make the arrangements."
After saying that, he went inside.
"Don't eat yet, Zhengguo. You guys go and inform everyone that there's an emergency. Please wait a bit before eating and gather at the Intermediate People's Court. I have something to tell you."
Sun Zhengguo didn't know what was going on, but since his father had spoken, he decided to go and inform him.
The three siblings had a clear division of labor: one notified each of the courts, and in less than ten minutes, everyone had gathered at the Intermediate Court.
Seeing that most of the people had arrived, Sun Dajiang began to speak.
"Alright, most of the people have arrived, so I'll get straight to the point. Guangtian from Uncle Er's house has been missing since last night. I hope everyone can put aside what they're doing and help us look for him."
As soon as he finished speaking, the crowd below began to murmur among themselves.
"What? The child is missing? I bet Uncle Er chased him away!"
"Exactly, exactly. I would have run too. Didn't you hear that sound last night? They were beaten so badly."
"What bad luck, it just so happened to be lunchtime."
Liu Haizhong overheard the whispers from the crowd below, and his face instantly turned red with embarrassment. He was utterly ashamed.
Seeing this, Sun Dajiang quickly spoke up to stop it.
"Alright, everyone, stop making sarcastic remarks. Now is not the time to assign blame. The most important task now is to find the person."
As soon as Sun Dajiang said this, the crowd immediately quieted down. They could disregard Liu Haizhong's feelings, but they couldn't ignore Sun Dajiang's words.
Seeing that everyone had quieted down, Sun Dajiang began to make arrangements. The group split into four teams, starting from the courtyard and searching outwards, focusing on corners and less crowded areas.
Once everyone received their mission, they began to take action; even Sun Zhengguo and his siblings had tasks to complete.
With everyone making a big fuss about searching for the person, it was impossible for the surrounding people not to know, so some enthusiastic people also joined the search team.
The search continued until 8 p.m. Some people couldn't take it anymore; they hadn't eaten yet and were so hungry they could barely walk. They decided to go back and eat, thinking that maybe the person had already been found.
Liu Guangtian had no idea that the people in the courtyard had turned the surrounding area upside down for his sake.
What was Liu Guangtian doing at this time?
Liu Guangtian, having just finished his meal, was watching a movie in the square of Kaoshan Village!
Today was such a great day! I had plenty of food and drinks with Xu Damao, and even watched a movie. I was so happy I almost forgot about home.
The only downside was seeing Xu Damao getting along so well with the pretty young widow.
And what about myself?
It's not that nobody saw it; either it was a little black girl or a girl with yellow teeth. How can there be such a big difference between people?
...
Inside the courtyard house, almost everyone had returned, but to everyone's disappointment, there was no news at all.
Seeing that everyone looked hungry, Sun Dajiang quickly comforted them, saying that they had worked hard and should go home and eat.
The old men discussed it again and decided that if all else failed, they would call the police, which was better than doing nothing.
When Liu Haizhong heard that the police were going to be called, he refused! He insisted on not calling the police, but when asked why, he stammered and couldn't give a reason.
Just as everyone was arguing and disagreeing, a member of the public from the next courtyard came over and provided some information, saying that they had seen Liu Guangtian that morning and that he seemed to have left with Xu Damao.
"Nonsense! This is utter nonsense!"
Sun Dajiang was furious. Everyone was starving and working hard to find someone, and you just quietly ran away with them.
"Yes, you don't know this bastard Xu Damao, do you? What was that bastard saying outside last night? It seems like your two families' children were listening in too."
Liu Haizhong believed that Xu Damao was to blame for the whole mess, so he dragged the two old men into the fray and joined them in attacking Xu Damao.
"Oh! What did they talk about?"
Sun Dajiang asked curiously, not expecting that his son was involved.
Seeing Liu Haizhong's hesitant and awkward manner, as if he couldn't bring himself to say it, Yan Bugui'er couldn't help but chime in.
"Why don't you say something? Why did you install it?"
Seeing that the two had taken the bait, Liu Haizhong stopped being coy and figured that everyone would share the shame anyway.
So he recounted why he had hit his son the night before, and everything Xu Damao had said.
After hearing this, Sun Dajiang was alright, but he cursed his two sons inwardly for being useless.
Upon hearing this, Yan Bugui lost his composure, his face turning red with anger, and he cursed loudly.
"That scoundrel has no sense of manners or shame. I must criticize him when I get back."
The other two old men were surprisingly in agreement with Yan Bugui's words; they had no objections. They were both victims, so why should they let Xu Damao off the hook?
The agenda was set, and all that was left was for Xu Damao to return so that a hospital-wide meeting could be held to criticize him. The group had been up all night and hadn't even eaten. Now that everything was settled, they all went home.
When he got home, his family was all waiting for him! Sun Dajiang quickly finished his belated dinner and then called back his two sons who were about to leave.
"You two, stay away from Xu Damao from now on. Do you think you can listen to this nonsense?"
The two brothers knew that their father must have found out about what happened last night, so they both chose to remain silent.
"What? Didn't you hear me?"
Hearing their father's unfriendly tone, the two brothers answered in unison.
"knew."
Seeing that the two had responded, Sun Dajiang didn't press the matter. The children were all grown up, and there was no need to make a big deal out of it. Besides, it wasn't their place to listen to this anyway. The real culprit was Xu Damao, who was always spouting nonsense.
"Go on! Go get some rest!"
The two brothers felt as if they had been granted a pardon and quickly fled back to their room. Sun Zhenghong, sensing something was wrong, also hurried back to his room.
"What's wrong? Weren't you looking for Liu Guangtian? How did you get involved with Xu Damao?"
Seeing that her husband seemed a little unhappy, Lin Wencui asked him with concern.
"It's all because of that bastard Xu Damao that he caused all this trouble."
"Why are you still unhappy about the trouble he caused? Tell me about it."
Lin Wencui's gossipy nature kicked in again, and she asked with a curious expression.
Are you sure you want to hear this?
Sun Dajiang said with a wicked grin.
"Okay, go ahead and tell me!"
The more mysterious Sun Dajiang was, the more interested Lin Wencui became.
Sun Dajiang didn't stand on ceremony. They were an old married couple, what was there to be afraid of!
He then recounted Xu Damao's glorious deeds in one go.
Lin Wencui blushed with embarrassment and cursed Xu Damao for being shameless and corrupting her two sons.
Looking at his wife's flushed face, Sun Dajiang felt as if he had returned to the past, when the two were not yet married, and his wife would have this kind of face whenever she was shy.
Sun Dajiang felt a surge of energy returning to his body. He took his wife's hand and they headed towards the room.
