Chapter 39 Making a Mistake, Riding a Goose

"E'zi, what are you doing!"

While Lin Yang and Lou Xiao'e were talking, Xu Damao said impatiently, "It's so cold, aren't you going back?"

"Coming, coming!" Lou Xiao'e turned to Xu Damao and said, then looked at Lin Yang beside her and said, "Alright, Yangzi, I'll get you some face cream later. Don't lock the door!"

"Don't worry!" Lin Yang replied with a smile and went into the room.

Just after he finished eating his noodles, he heard Lou Xiao'e's footsteps.

Then the door was pushed open.

"Yoko, this is the face cream you wanted!"

As soon as she entered, Lou Xiao'e happily waved a brown box in her hand.

"A woman from Shanghai?" Upon seeing the sign, Lin Yang chuckled and said, "Sister Xiao'e, the name of this sign is quite strange!"

"Right? I think it's pretty fun too, and the design on the box is also quite nice, so I asked someone to bring it back from Shanghai!" Lou Xiao'e smiled as she walked to Lin Yang's side and put down the face cream in her hand.

"Sister Xiao'e, how do you clean this thing?" Lin Yang asked, pretending not to know.

"After you wash your face, scoop some out and put it on your hands, then apply it to your face!" Lou Xiao'e said, opening the box and adding, "This one box is enough for you to use all winter!"

"Sister Xiao'e, I've never used this before. Why don't I go wash my face now and you teach me later!"

Lin Yang smiled and looked at Lou Xiao'e.

This capitalist's daughter is really well-maintained; her skin is as white as jade.

With a slightly chubby face and those innocent, big eyes, she's instantly endearing.

"Sure!" Lou Xiao'e, unaware of Lin Yang's intentions, smiled and nodded, "Then go wash your face. It's actually very simple!"

After Lin Yang finished washing his face, Lou Xiao'e scooped out some face cream and rubbed it on her hands. Then she smiled and said, "Look, if you rub it like this, you can apply it to your face later!"

While learning, Lin Yang said with a smile, "Sister Xiao'e, Xu Damao really trusts you to come to my room like that?"

"Him?" Lou Xiao'e rolled her eyes. "Who knows which woman he's out fooling around with right now!"

"What?" Lin Yang asked, his face full of doubt. "Sister Xiao'e! Xu Damao went out to fool around, aren't you angry?"

Lou Xiao'e rubbed the face cream in her hands, sighed helplessly, and said, "What can I say? Wouldn't it just make me look bad? Besides, how can I, someone who can't have children, have the confidence to say such things!"

When she first married into the Xu family, they treated her like a precious treasure.

But after they discovered that she couldn't have children, first Xu's parents gave her the cold shoulder, and then Xu Damao also disliked her.

She always seemed a bit dazed because Lou Xiao'e thought life was boring and she could just drift along.

Why worry about so much?

At this moment, Lin Yang raised an eyebrow and said, "Sister Xiao'e, didn't you go for a check-up? Pregnancy should be approached scientifically."

"A checkup?" Lou Xiao'e said with a hint of helplessness, "My mom also took me for a checkup in private, and the doctor said I'm fine!"

“That’s Xu Damao’s problem. Let him get checked out too!” Lin Yang said confidently.

"He doesn't want to either!" Lou Xiao'e sighed. "Let's just leave it at that. I can't force him to go for the checkup if he doesn't want to!"

"Then you wouldn't..." Lin Yang suddenly looked at Lou Xiao'e with a mischievous grin and said, "I heard a joke before, about a couple who went to get checked to see why they weren't pregnant, and the doctor said helplessly, 'That's because they took the wrong road!'"

"Okay!" Lou Xiao'e said with a slightly shy smile, "Everyone in the courtyard says that you, Lin Yang, are honest. I didn't expect you to know these things."

"One should not shy away from seeking medical help when ill!" Lin Yang said with a righteous expression.

Then he leaned close to Lou Xiao'e's ear and said, "If Xu Damao really wants a son, I can give him one too!"

"Yangzi..." Feeling Lin Yang's breath on her ear, Lou Xiao'e said coquettishly, "Don't joke with your sister Xiao'e. How can you give away your son like that!"

Seeing that Lou Xiao'e hadn't reacted yet, Lin Yang couldn't help but find it quite amusing.

He winked at Lou Xiao'e and said, "I'll follow in Xu Damao's footsteps too, that way I'll know who's no good!"

"Fine!" Lou Xiao'e pointed at Lin Yang, her expression speechless, and said, "I never thought that you, Yangzi, with your thick eyebrows and big eyes, would actually have designs on your sister Xiao'e!"

Lin Yang noticed that Lou Xiao'e wasn't angry.

He immediately seized the opportunity, grabbed her finger, and said with a smile, "Sister Xiao'e, if Xu Damao can find someone, so can you!"

"I'm not saying anything more!" Lou Xiao'e had never met such a shameless person in her life. Blushing, she pulled her hand back from being grabbed and said, "Yangzi, I'm going back first. Otherwise, people outside will start speculating if they know I've been in your room for so long!"

After saying that, Lou Xiao'e turned around and walked out of Lin Yang's house.

Then, feeling a bit guilty, he looked around and breathed a sigh of relief when he realized that no one was paying attention to him.

After walking quickly home, Lou Xiao'e touched the finger that Lin Yang had grabbed, and Lin Yang's words kept echoing in her mind.

Looking at the empty heated kang bed, he muttered to himself, "Lin Yang is right. Why can Xu Damao go out and have fun every day, but I can't go out and find someone? Besides, my checkup showed no problems! The problem must be with Xu Damao!"

As she murmured to herself, she thought of Lin Yang's handsome face again, and suddenly burrowed into her quilt, rolling around shyly on the kang (a heated brick bed).
