Chapter 351 Bystanders

The three members of the Xu family left.

Qin Jingru returned and had just reached the door when she was stopped by the Third Uncle.

With a smile, Qin Jingru took a takeout box out of her bag and handed it to the Third Uncle: "Third Uncle, here's your roast duck."

For some reason, Uncle San has developed a fondness for roast duck over the years, and Qin Jingru always brings one or two back with her whenever she goes out. It's not that Uncle San can't afford it himself; she just likes to tease him a bit.

This was just a little game between them.

The old man happily accepted it and said mysteriously to Qin Jingru, "Let me tell you, this roast duck of yours is worth it. You have to treat me to another meal later."

"What's going on? Is something particularly outrageous happening today?" Qin Jingru's eyes lit up.

In this alley, any gossip is sure to reach Uncle San first. The old man is quite idle now. A few years ago, he took on a job with Qin Huairu and trained a few apprentices. Now that his apprentices have all graduated, he's settled down, still receiving his salary. He spends his days happily wandering around with his hands behind his back, stopping to chat with people wherever he happens to be.

They'd chat with anyone, old men or old women, offering a word or two.

Compared to a typical nerdy guy like this old man, this guy is a total social butterfly.

"I'm telling you..."

Qin Jingru never expected that she would become the subject of gossip. After hearing the Third Uncle's description, her eyes lit up.

After exchanging a few pleasantries, they rushed inside.

The third uncle couldn't help but laugh as he watched Qin Jingru running so fast.

"What are you laughing at?" The third aunt came out of the house and laughed when she saw the roast duck in the third uncle's hand.

Who doesn't love roast duck?

"I laughed at myself for never realizing before how fun Qin Jingru was."

"You old scoundrel!" The third aunt snatched the roast duck away and slapped him, saying irritably, "How can you talk like that?"

"Hey, you don't understand."

This is a resonance among people who enjoy themselves.

When Lezi entered the house, he saw Wang Shouren with a worried look on his face and immediately became gloating: "What's wrong? The Xu family has come knocking on our door?"

"Sigh, I knew this day would come. There's nothing to say. Your sister E has told the Xu family about Weiwei. Look at the mess you've made."

"Tsk, so what? So what? Did the Xu family ask you to divorce me and marry Weiwei?" Qin Jingru immediately adopted a curious look.

Wang Shouren: ...

Well, look at that, is this even human language?

Qin Jingru knew about Xu Weiwei's situation; to be precise, Xu Weiwei's pregnancy was orchestrated by this guy. This rascal, if there's no juicy gossip, he'll create his own.

He said viciously, "Yes, we'll get a divorce tomorrow."

"Tch." Qin Jingru snorted. "It's not fun. They didn't make any unreasonable demands."

"How is it excessive?" Wang Shouren rolled his eyes: "He didn't mention anything."

Well, if the two parties were not of equal status, given Xu's father's temperament, he might actually force Wang Shouren to divorce his wife and marry Xu Weiwei, or even break Wang Shouren's legs after the marriage and keep him at home like a gigolo. But since their statuses are not that different, and Wang Shouren is even slightly higher, the situation becomes more complicated.

After all, both sides want Xu Weiwei to be happy; they can't very well end up fighting each other. That would only make things worse for both sides.

But in a sense, Lou Xiao'e did not do anything wrong.

Wang Shouren couldn't say that. After Xu Weiwei came back, did she secretly give birth to the child at home? That's not how things are done.

Wang Shouren couldn't pick up Xu Weiwei and then tell the Xu family, "Hey, your daughter is pregnant with my child, come and pick her up."

This isn't a notification; it's a provocation. Therefore, it's up to Lou Xiao'e or Qin Jingru to bring it up. Lou Xiao'e, however, seems more inclined towards a vengeful mindset, while Qin Jingru is more like a bystander.

Over the years, she and Xu Weiwei have become good friends. She couldn't just watch her best friend suffer a terrible fate, could she?

Pride aside, having a child is still pretty good, isn't it?

This decision was made after Qin Jingru discovered Xu Weiwei's desire through various attempts to understand her.

Wang Shouren rarely kept anything from Qin Jingru. Like on their first date, he said something incredibly despicable: "I'm with your sister, but I still want you." He had only one redeeming quality: he was blatantly scummy. Qin Jingru was the same; she inherited this trait—she was the type to be completely open and honest.

But despite the discussion, Qin Jingru still wanted to get her hands on the big news that was actually happening.

"Then... should I pick him up from the airport tomorrow?"

“Yes, you can come along.” Wang Shouren gave a “kind” smile.

"I refuse..." Qin Jingru took two steps back, as if she had thought of something, and then she was full of confidence: "I, Qin Jingru, the Empress, why should an Empress go to receive a concubine?"

"Ha, concubines, huh? Tomorrow, you'll come along. If you don't, you'll get a spanking tonight." Wang Shouren curled his lip. "And don't even think about running away."

"Why are you running?" At this moment, Qin Huairu pushed the door open and came in. Today she went to the village to hand over her work. The village is developing better and better, but she can't keep up with the energy. She has gradually handed over her power.

"It's all about Xu Weiwei. Her family is going tomorrow too. This guy started the fire and now he wants to just sit back and watch the show." Wang Shouren pointed at the self-righteous Qin Jingru.

Qin Huairu laughed: "Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on her for you."

"Sis! How could you do this? We'll go together tomorrow. It'll be so awkward then!" Qin Jingru's eyes widened in disbelief.

It's just "awkwardness," isn't it? Do you think there's any hatred between the two sides? Not really, it's just awkwardness.

"Isn't this what you wanted?" Qin Huairu said with a smile. "Besides, she's already heavily pregnant and about to give birth to a prince. You can go and check her out; there's nothing wrong with her, right?"

"Hiss..." Qin Jingru looked at Qin Huairu in shock: "Sister, your swearing is so vulgar now." Then she turned to Wang Shouren: "She's sarcastic towards you, shall we deal with her tonight?"

"Not good." Wang Shouren shrugged. "I was already prepared to be betrayed by you guys. But you, trying to turn me against you? Huairu, tonight, let's deal with the Empress."

As he spoke, Wang Shouren's voice became several levels sinister.
