Chapter 4 Conflict

Wang Shouren picked his teeth and hummed a little tune as he came out of the restaurant.

He thoroughly enjoyed the meal; the feeling of satisfaction when extremely hungry is hard to describe. His large strides attracted some attention, though only a fleeting glance. Back in the familiar alley, just as he was about to push open the door, a gust of wind suddenly swept behind him.

A sharp pain made him groan involuntarily.

Suddenly everything went black, and the world spun around him as he fell straight down.

"Hey, yeah, you got cocky." A familiar voice came from behind.

Immediately following was Uncle San's exclamation: "Silly Zhu! You fool, how could you slap someone on the head! What if something happens?!"

The voice sounded a little flustered: "What could possibly be wrong? Isn't this how we usually film? I'm leaving now, I have something to do."

"Hey...hey...wake up, wake up." The third uncle pushed Wang Shouren, who was lying on the ground.

Wang Shouren groaned. He wasn't seriously injured, but the sudden attack had momentarily stunned him. When he recognized the person as Uncle Yan Bugui, the orthodox door god of the courtyard house, he recalled what had just happened. Good heavens, once he started thinking about it, he was filled with rage.

The original owner was considered an honest person in the courtyard house, and didn't have many friends.

Therefore, he became quite close to Qin Huairu. Both of them came from the countryside, so they naturally had more to talk about. Furthermore, the original owner was young, and Jia Dongxu was still alive at the time, so Qin Huairu felt comfortable taking care of her. After all, the original owner's father was also a craftsman, and maintaining a good relationship was essential. But all of this was observed by Sha Zhu.

He felt resentful. He was always glared at by Jia Zhangshi when he tried to get close to Qin Huairu, so why was the original owner of this body allowed to?

After a while, Sha Zhu started to hate the original owner of the body.

Every now and then, he would bully the original owner. Since the original owner was a quiet person and didn't want to cause trouble for his father, he never said a word when he was bullied. So Sha Zhu started to escalate the bullying.

Sometimes, the original owner couldn't hold back and would fight with Sha Zhu. Of course, he couldn't win and got beaten up by Sha Zhu, who would then accuse him of being stingy. It's fair to say that a large part of the reason the original owner couldn't find any friends here was thanks to Sha Zhu.

As the memories deepened, Wang Shouren's expression became increasingly ferocious.

He wasn't the original owner of this body. He looked around, grabbed a brick, stood up with a cold face, and rushed into the courtyard without even saying hello to the Third Uncle.

"Hey! Hey! Xiao Wang! Xiao Wang!" Yan Bugui realized something was wrong and immediately chased after him.

However, he was getting old, and he was initially frightened by Wang Shouren's fierce eyes, so he didn't stop him immediately. By the time he came to his senses, Wang Shouren had already run far away.

In the middle courtyard, Sha Zhu was carrying two lunch bags, each containing two boxed lunches. They weren't exactly fancy dishes, but at least they were somewhat oily. Qin Huairu was already waiting for him in the courtyard.

When Sha Zhu saw Qin Huairu, his slightly uneasy feelings calmed down. He raised the lunchbox in his hand to Qin Huairu, and was about to walk over and say a few words when he saw that Qin Huairu's originally smiling face was now filled with a look of fear.

He was wondering about it.

Then a familiar voice was heard: "Fuck you!"

Immediately afterwards, there was a "snap".

Wang Shouren smashed Sha Zhu's head open with a brick, and Sha Zhu, caught off guard, was knocked to the ground.

His mind went blank for a moment, and before he could struggle, Wang Shouren sat down on him and smashed another brick into Sha Zhu's face.

At this moment, many people in the Intermediate Court were stunned by this sudden turn of events and forgot to stop it until an old man came out and loudly ordered people to separate the two. Only then did everyone react.

"I'll teach you to hit me! I'll teach you to bully me!" Wang Shouren said viciously, slapping him again and again. Sha Zhu had originally thought of resisting, but he was too weak. With each slap across his face, any normal person would be dazed. Resistance was just a joke.

After a chaotic scene, someone finally managed to pull Wang Shouren off Sha Zhu.

To be fair, Sha Zhu was incredibly lucky. Even with all that slapping, only a piece of his nose was knocked off, causing him to bleed profusely and his face to swell up like a pig's head in an instant. It was precisely because Wang Shouren stopped slapping him that Sha Zhu gradually regained consciousness.

Once I came to my senses, my anger flared up instantly.

He cursed loudly, "F*** you!"

He pushed aside the old man who was supporting him and raised his fist to strike Wang Shouren.

The old man wanted to ask Wang Shouren what was going on, but seeing Sha Zhu's impulsive appearance, he couldn't help but feel a headache coming on.

"Silly Zhu!!"

At this moment, Wang Shouren stared fiercely at Sha Zhu with a brick in his hand and charged straight at him.

"Wang Shouren!!"

"Pull it open! Pull it open!!"

Another chaotic scene ensued, but it was only with great difficulty that they managed to bring both of them under control.

The old man was so anxious he was practically fuming. He said fiercely, "I can't control you anymore! What are you doing? Are you planning to have someone die here?!"

"Uncle, this kid didn't say a word and just slapped me on the forehead. Look at me, look at me!" Sha Zhu pointed at Wang Shouren and started a false accusation.

"And you, Wang Shouren? What do you have to say?"

Wang Shouren stared intently at Sha Zhu and said, word by word, "Sha Zhu, from today onwards, we are mortal enemies. Either you kill me and you go in, or I kill you and I go in. There is no other possibility."

When Wang Shouren said this, the surrounding neighbors gasped and their gazes toward Sha Zhu changed.

Has this guy really pushed this honest kid too far?

Almost everyone knows what kind of person Sha Zhu is.

To be frank, he is indeed pitiful; his father abandoned him and his sister when they were young. However, he is also a real troublemaker. How did he earn the reputation of being the "Courtyard War God"? It was earned through fighting. Don't say he only did it in retaliation; most of the time, it's because he has a sharp tongue and offends this person or that person, and in the end, he has no choice but to settle things with his fists.

This kind of thing has happened more than once or twice.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Sha Zhu was hated by everyone and even dogs in the yard.

If it weren't for the fact that in this day and age it's not common to call the police when something happens, and most of the time people handle things themselves, this guy would probably have been in jail several times over.
