Chapter 40 Technician

The calculation method for technical jobs is different from that for other types of jobs.

It is divided into 18 levels.

Levels one through three refer to the salaries of chief engineers, professors, researchers, academicians, and chief physicians.

Levels four to six refer to the salaries of the aforementioned technical deputy positions.

Levels seven to nine represent the salary for engineers.

Levels 10 to 13 are for technicians.

Levels 14 to 15, Assistant.

Levels 16 to 18: Intern.

If you graduate from university, you can be directly classified as level fourteen.

Someone like Wang Shouren would likely be classified as level sixteen. The corresponding administrative position would be a level seven clerk. The salary would be 37 yuan.

In the institute, this was already considered a promising job, so when everyone learned that Wang Shouren would be joining the steel rolling mill, they all congratulated him.

A technician was born in his own institute; now he looks quite proud when he goes out.

Wang Shouren was not used to being watched, but an old man eventually stepped in to smooth things over.

He even discussed with Wang Shouren whether they should treat the people in the courtyard to a meal.

It's only fair to say that most people in this compound are employees of the steel rolling mill.

Putting everything else aside, if Wang Shouren wanted to move into administration, then cultivating good relations with the masses would still be necessary.

Wang Shouren did not refuse.

He wasn't looking to climb the ranks, but maintaining good relations with the people was still necessary. After all, it had been 65 years.

Actually, the meal wasn't particularly luxurious. He just paid a little money, there was only one main dish on the table, and everyone sat together amicably for a meal that didn't cost much. After the meal, he staggered back to the backyard and then to his room.

Looking at how clean and tidy the room was, he touched his nose and smiled.

Every year I come back these past few years, it looks pretty much the same.

Occasionally, while lying in bed, I can smell a pleasant fragrance.

Lying groggily in bed, he seemed to sense someone calling him. With his eyes closed, he knew without a second thought who it was and pulled a warm, smooth body into his arms. Just as he was about to make a move, a wave of sleepiness washed over him, and he drifted off to sleep.

Lou Xiao'e blushed and broke free from Wang Shouren's embrace.

Through the moonlight, the bulge on his body appeared even more rosy.

He immediately panicked and ran outside.

"Bang!"

A sound that was neither too loud nor too soft.

The two women bumped into each other.

Qin Huairu looked at Lou Xiao'e, and Lou Xiao'e also looked at Qin Huairu.

Qin Huairu's expression gradually became strange, and she looked at Lou Xiao'e with the same gaze one would give an enemy.

"You...you, don't misunderstand. I just saw that your kids were making a lot of noise, and I thought you probably wouldn't have time to come over tonight, so I came to check on them. I was afraid he would get drunk and die. I'm not like you, there's nothing between us..." Lou Xiao'e rambled on, then froze.

Now, Lou Xiao'e isn't the only one blushing on the spot.

The atmosphere was somewhat silent, awkward, and even a little eerie.

"I...I...I know that you were making too much noise when you were doing that...I..." Lou Xiao'e explained haltingly, almost crying.

What should I do? Will I be silenced?

"The sound wasn't loud at all. Second Uncle's family has never heard it. They have two little brats in their family too," Qin Huairu said leisurely, glancing at Lou Xiao'e's house again.

In terms of distance, Wang Shouren's house was the closest to the moon gate leading to the central courtyard. Next to it was Second Uncle's house, in between was the deaf old lady's room, and opposite was Lou Xiao'e's house. Given this distance, if Lou Xiao'e could hear, Second Uncle's family would probably have discovered something long ago. Therefore, there's only one answer: Lou Xiao'e was lying.

"Cough...cough cough..."

Just then, the sound of the deaf old lady coughing rang out from the center of the courtyard. This old lady's health had been deteriorating recently.

It always makes some noise at night.

It was this commotion that saved Lou Xiao'e's life.

"I...I'm leaving now. You go and take care of him. I won't tell anyone." Lou Xiao'e ran off in a hurry.

Back home, she closed the door behind her and slowly slid down it, her heart pounding. She really didn't mean anything by it. She simply assumed that Qin Huairu was unlikely to come over tonight. Tonight, Jia Zhangshi had eaten and drunk quite a bit, and Wang Shouren had somehow gotten some decent wine; many people had gotten quite drunk.

As a result, Qin Huairu has to stay at home to take care of the elderly.

She would only come over to check if Wang Shouren had drunk a lot of wine.

Unexpectedly, as soon as he entered, Wang Shouren grabbed him and began to roughly handle him.

She recalled Wang Shouren's actions just now, and her face flushed even more, with those areas feeling slightly hot.

She groaned, "Ugh, what terrible things have I done..."

Qin Huairu's eyes flickered twice. She walked into the room, saw Wang Shouren fast asleep, pinched his waist a few times in annoyance, and spat, "You scoundrel."

Wang Shouren, fast asleep, seemed to sense something. He shrank his neck, smacked his lips, and, in his familiar starting position, pulled Qin Huairu into his arms before she could react. Unlike with Lou Xiao'e, Qin Huairu's reaction was quite calm. Mainly because she was used to it, she didn't move, simply staying quietly in Wang Shouren's embrace.

He gazed leisurely out the window, lost in thought.

Over the years, her life has gotten better and better. Now, she's a level three fitter with a pretty good salary. It's more than enough to support her family, and she's the sole breadwinner. Her mother-in-law no longer complains; as long as she eats and drinks well every month, and the baby grows up happily, Jia Zhangshi can have someone to rely on in her old age.

I wouldn't care about so many things.

Madam Jia knew perfectly well that Qin Huairu had someone else, but what could she do? Qin Huairu was now incapable of remarrying; her reputation was both her strength and her weakness.

As long as she doesn't remarry, it's not a problem.

She sighed softly in Wang Shouren's arms.

A soft rustling sound came from the bed: "Hmm, baby, why are you sighing?"

The word "baby" gave Qin Huairu goosebumps.

At this time, Wang Shouren was still somewhat confused, and he casually used later-era habits.

But Qin Huairu had never heard such words before, and her whole body was burning up.

But Wang Shouren didn't seem to give her much time to think.

The suppressed voices rose again, and the symphony filled the house once more. All worries, love, work, and children were cast aside, leaving only joy, the ultimate joy.

I can't live without him, I can't leave him...

On the other side, Lou Xiao'e looked at her empty house and thought about what had just happened. A sense of desolation welled up in her heart.
