"Tell me, why did they all go abroad? What's wrong with building a factory or a laboratory in our country? The land over there in the United States is much more appealing," Qin Huairu grumbled.
Unlike Qin Jingru and Lou Xiao'e, she longed for many children and grandchildren, and yearned for the happiness of being surrounded by her children and grandchildren.
One by one, they all ran off to the bald eagle, which made her a little angry.
"There's nothing we can do about it." Lou Xiao'e picked up a piece of apple and put it in her mouth; "We don't have any attractive conditions here."
The conditions between these two countries are closely related to the environment.
It's not a life-or-death moment yet.
More and more people are choosing to stay in the US, despite the discrimination and various rules there. Ultimately, the job market is different from China. Many people who come to China for work find it completely unsuitable. Moreover, it's easier to realize one's ideals and ambitions there. This is especially true for researchers, as some equipment simply cannot be transported back home.
It can only be found there.
This is why the bald eagle is able to attract so many people to stay in the area.
We can only stay in the local area. What would we do if we came back? We don't have the equipment, and the conditions aren't right. We'd just blend into the crowd after coming back, which would be meaningless.
Lou Xiao'e was aware of this, but Qin Huairu was not.
"Children will eventually have their own careers to pursue. Besides, isn't it good that we're living a leisurely life these days?" Wang Shouren said calmly, basking in the sunlight.
"Well, Jingru went out to tease cats and dogs again," Qin Huairu said irritably.
Laifu, who was lying on the ground, raised his head and looked around.
“I didn’t call you, I didn’t call you.” Wang Shouren gently stroked the dog’s head.
Laifulai has been living in this family for over ten years; it's quite old now. Whenever it's called, it always looks up with a puzzled expression, as if it's worried about something.
This is one of the reasons why Wang Shouren moved out of the courtyard house. The courtyard house was noisy, while his own three-courtyard house was much quieter.
“Jingru didn’t go out to flirt; she went out on serious business,” Wang Shouren emphasized.
"What are you up to now?" Qin Huairu asked curiously.
"I'm already this old, why should I bother with anything? You're already being kind by not bothering me."
Before the conversation could continue, Qin Jingru rushed in excitedly. Even at her age, she still had the impetuousness of a young girl: "It's done, it's done, I've got it sorted out."
"Don't worry, don't worry, it's all settled now, it was all expected." Wang Shouren reassured her.
This person has absolutely no idea about health preservation.
"You think everyone's like you, acting like they're some kind of bastard?" Lou Xiao'e glared at him irritably, then said to Qin Jingru, "What now?"
"They plan to lease some Chinese medicinal herb gardens to provide us with materials, so we now have a supplier for our beauty creams and health pills."
These days, traditional Chinese medicine is in decline, and it's difficult to find reliable sources of many important medicinal herbs. Some herbs are even completely out of production. This has resulted in some of Wang Shouren's beauty ointments and health-preserving pills having significantly reduced efficacy. The pills are alright, though; they shouldn't actually be taken as medicine. In fact, Wang Shouren advised people not to take them, or to take them sparingly.
Traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes Yin and Yang and the Five Elements. Each individual's Yin and Yang and Five Elements balance, and the balance of Qi within their body, are different. Therefore, medicine must be prescribed individually; there is no one-size-fits-all approach. The shortage of beauty creams is causing immense trouble for the ladies of Beijing. Everyone knows that besides having connections to the highest levels, the Wang family patriarch is also a health and wellness expert.
At over fifty years old, with the body of a thirty-year-old, who wouldn't envy that?
And none of his women are any different.
For these powerful and influential people, self-care was paramount. And so, with a few words of encouragement from his wife, the medicinal herbs showed a slight improvement. As for the extent of this improvement, Wang Shouren didn't know; he only knew he was doing his best.
"Also, they said we should make a copy of everything we make."
That counts as an exchange.
Wang Shouren nodded; "I'll go tomorrow."
“You should get moving. You’ve been doing this all day and now you don’t even go to the office anymore.”
"There are people in charge, why should I go?"
Like most transmigrators, once Wang Shouren had finished his turmoil and things had stabilized, he became a hands-off manager. At his level, internal company changes no longer affected him. Those who haven't reached this position don't understand; unless someone above wants to remove you, it's very difficult to move. But even if someone above does want to remove you, it's pointless for you to do so.
Moreover, he mainly deals in foreign exchange.
The cars inside, although they have some reputation, are not particularly famous.

Nanluoguxiang Courtyard
Yan Bugui stood under the tree in the backyard, looking at the empty yard, took a deep breath, and reached out to touch the old tree that had lived for who knows how many years.
Almost everyone in this courtyard has moved away.
An old man passed away one night in 1987, without illness or injury, and his death was relatively peaceful. In fact, Yan Bugui had foreseen this before he passed away. Since the old woman left, the old man, though he didn't say it, had actually lost hope in life. He even stopped practicing Tai Chi every morning, and his spirits were collapsing at an extremely rapid pace.
The old woman's departure seemed to have sent a signal.
The elderly people in this courtyard have all passed away one after another.
Later, probably because more and more people left, most of the elderly people's descendants no longer wanted them to live there, so they all took them back.
The third uncle didn't try to stop them; he just asked if they were selling the house, as he wanted to buy the courtyard.
"What are you doing?" The third aunt peeked out from the moon gate, interrupting the old man's thoughts as he touched the tree.
"I haven't done anything, I've just been thinking about this courtyard." The third uncle sighed, "Do you remember how happy I was when they allocated me the front yard house back then?"
“That’s not true.” The third aunt immediately perked up when she mentioned this: “Back then, I was really worried that you wouldn’t get a house. Your eldest child is not young anymore, and your second child will be born soon. With all the moving around, you might not even have a place to stay. When I heard that you could get a house, I was so happy that I couldn’t sleep all night. I was just thinking about what to do with the house.”
What's that saying again? Every white-haired old man and woman was once a spirited and ambitious young person.
Looking back on those glorious years, one cannot understand this statement until one reaches a certain age.
