Standardization is an extremely important indicator for industrial manufacturing.
For example, if you're making a fan, within the same specifications, the blades of fan A won't fit into fan B. This is non-standardization; each part is only suitable for its own purpose. This has a significant impact on the manufacturing of subsequent components.
However, to be fair, implementing this is not so simple.
Currently, most machine tools are second-hand, from Russian, American, and Japanese manufacturers. Not only are standards inconsistent, but most of these machines are nearing or already beyond repair. The precision, wear, and vibration levels of each machine tool vary. The experienced operators here are using extremely imprecise machinery to produce usable workpieces.
It's normal that there are problems here.
Wang Shouren let out a soft sigh.
I wrote down a few goals in my notebook.
First, standardization.
After thinking about it, I continued writing about what I was currently lacking.
First, it's best to develop your own standard machine tool and establish a set of standards.
Second, implement 5S management.
Third, establish a suitable production line.
To be honest, it's difficult, or more accurately, it's very difficult in this era.
In this era, while the Americans have already started using CNC machining, they're still using these outdated machines. Furthermore, assembly lines can't be implemented directly. This era relies more on the income of skilled workers. If assembly lines were actually set up, it would undoubtedly be severing the foundation of the future. Currently, the first issue to address is the machine tool problem.
Secondly, 5S management should also be implemented. This will significantly improve efficiency.
After circling around a few times, he returned to his office and began to organize his thoughts.
While he was writing something, his master returned, accompanied by a tall woman who looked somewhat familiar to Wang Shouren.
Shen Yuanliang spoke first, saying, "Shouren, this Director Ma from the Women's Federation has something to discuss with you."
"Ah? Oh, okay." Wang Shouren immediately stood up. He remembered, it was Director Ma.
"Director Ma, what can I do for you?"
"It's like this," Director Ma said with a serious expression, "We received a report from the public today saying that you want Comrade Qin Huairu to take you back to their countryside to buy women? Is that true?"
Wang Shouren was stunned, looking completely bewildered: "What...what's going on here? This morning, Sister Qin said she wanted to introduce me to one of her relatives. I didn't feel comfortable refusing, so how did it turn into buying women in your eyes?"
"So, that means it didn't happen?" Director Ma continued to ask.
"No, no, absolutely not. If you feel it's inappropriate, please help me reject Sister Qin. Actually, I don't really want to go on blind dates right now. I just started this job, and I still want to focus on doing my job well." Wang Shouren shook his head.
"Okay, I understand. I just came to ask. The rumors circulating in the factory are always quite strange. You don't need to pay attention to them. I'll handle this matter." Director Ma didn't make things difficult for Wang Shouren. She knew this matter was too outrageous; someone was probably jealous of this young man. To be fair, this young man was really handsome.
After Director Ma left, Wang Shouren said helplessly, "Master, how could the rumors be so outrageous?"
"Alright, never mind that. Tell me, what did you get today?" Shen Yuanliang was clearly not very interested in this kind of thing.
"The efficiency is too low." Wang Shouren sighed. "Every craftsman has excellent skills, but the machines produce such low-quality products."
"Sigh..." Shen Yuanliang sighed as well, "There's nothing we can do about it. What else can we do?"
"I've come up with some ideas, and I'll summarize them this afternoon and submit a report to you."
"Alright, then I'll wait for your report. I was thinking that if you didn't have any ideas, you could follow me and see what I had to say. It's good that you have your own ideas now." Although Shen Yuanliang was somewhat skeptical, he wouldn't dampen his apprentice's enthusiasm.
At lunchtime, Wang Shouren took his boxed lunch to the canteen. He didn't go to Sha Zhu's second canteen. Anyone would know that this idiot would probably try to trip him up. There was no need for that. He ate not to eat well, but just to fill his stomach.
The food in the canteen was so-so, neither good nor bad, but the portions were generous. In those days, workers were treated quite well. After finishing my meal in the noisy canteen, I returned to my office. I picked up my pen and began writing down the 5S management system.
Organize: Clean up the workplace, categorize and dispose of unnecessary items, keep the necessary items, and simplify the workplace.
Organizing: Arranging the workplace to make necessary items easily accessible, thereby achieving an orderly workplace.
Cleaning: Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the workplace, preventing pollution and accidents, and achieving a clean workplace.
Cleaning: Establish standardized work processes and operating procedures to ensure workplace stability and standardization.
Competency: Through training and education, improve employees' awareness and competence, so that 5S management can operate effectively in the long term.
Of course, this can't be called the 5S management system.
Many people don't take the so-called 5S seriously, but in reality, it's really useful.
In this era before 5S, Wang Shouren's first impression of the workshop was chaos.
For example, a welder might only need a few tools normally, but because parts sometimes malfunction, he might use non-welding tools, like pliers, to fix them. Over time, his workbench will accumulate more and more. Later, when he actually needs to work on a part, he'll find it's faulty and wonder, "Where are my pliers?"
A lot of time was wasted in the process of searching for the pliers.
This is where tidying up and organizing come in handy.
Designate some frequently used items and keep them within easy reach, placing them outwards in sequence to form a routine, so that you can easily pick them up whenever you need them.
This is the essence of sorting and organizing.
The importance of cleaning and tidying is self-evident. A tidy workshop not only improves production efficiency but also avoids many potential dangers. More importantly, it enhances workers' sense of ownership. Nobody likes working in a garbage dump; a clean and tidy environment can make people feel much more relaxed and happy.
As for professional qualities, to put it bluntly, this thing is prepared to cultivate successors and to implement this process from top to bottom.
