Chapter 6
"Let's get a divorce tomorrow. I've had enough of you always bringing up divorce every time we argue." The words on the other end were barbed, but it was clear that she was just saying it in anger.
“I’m serious, Fang Wei. You know how much you’ve changed in the last two years. You have no feelings for me anymore. Rather than continuing to torment me, it’s better to let go. It’s better for both of us.”
"Stop it, okay? I admit I neglected your feelings this time. I was wrong. Let's go back. I promise I'll talk to Mom and Dad about it, alright?"
Shen Li hung up, tears welling in her eyes, her vision blurred, and a wave of nausea rose in her stomach. She ran into the bathroom, dry heaving, and leaned against the wall, sobbing.
Once the valve was turned on, it became uncontrollable. She got up and turned on the shower, letting the sound of water drown out her sobs. In the end, she couldn't tell whether the water on her face was water or tears.
She knew she definitely wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. She's always like this; if something bad happens before bed, she'll toss and turn in bed all night.
At seven o'clock in the morning, Xiaoyu came to Chenli's room and was shocked when she saw her crawl out of bed. Her face was pale, her eyelids were swollen and there was darkness under her eyes. Her hair was a mess, and she was swaying as she got out of bed. She looked like she could be straight out of a horror movie.
"Oh my god, sis, the film is due today! What did you do last night? Did you stay up all night?"
"Insomnia." Shen Li's voice was a little hoarse as she walked into the bathroom.
A moment later, the sound of running water came from the water. Xiaoyu noticed the somber atmosphere and didn't ask any more questions. She said, "Sister Li, breakfast is on the table. I'll go buy you an Americano. Drink some to help reduce the swelling."
Shen Li turned off the tap, covered her face with a towel, and let out a weak "hmm".
After drying her face, she examined her eyes in the mirror, squeezed out eye cream, and massaged it in circles. After a while, her puffy eyes looked a little better, but the red blood vessels at the corners of her eyes were still very obvious.
There was no other way but to leave it to the photo editor. After cursing Fang Wei as a bastard a dozen times in the toilet, she finally vented her anger and cheered herself up.
She had no appetite, so she picked up a steamed bun, put it in her mouth, gathered the breakfast bag in her hand, and turned to leave.
Seeing Luo Mingxiu standing in the corridor, she realized that since they had breakfast together that day, they had been eating out together for several days in a row, so he was waiting for her.
"I overslept today, so I had Xiaoyu bring this over," Chen Li said, lifting the bag in her hand. "Want some?"
Luo Mingxiu shook his head, staring at her intently, his expression turning icy for a moment: "Were you arguing with that person just now?"
Shen Li paused for a moment, then walked forward awkwardly: "I forgot that the room wasn't soundproof."
"You cried?" Luo Mingxiu followed.
"No, I just didn't sleep well."
“I heard it last night too.”
Unable to refute her, Shen Li cursed under her breath, then said seriously, "Well, I wasn't crying very loudly, was I? Did I disturb you?"
Luo Mingxiu understood: "No, the sound was very soft. I woke up in the middle of the night and vaguely heard it. Sure enough, it was my sister crying."
"So you tricked me?"
"I'm just concerned about my sister."
"I haven't spoiled you for nothing." Shen Li stopped and instinctively wanted to ruffle his hair again, but remembering his resistant reaction last time, she hesitated after reaching out.
Now that she's an adult, she can't be as affectionate as before; she needs to maintain boundaries.
Unexpectedly, Luo Mingxiu did not resist this time. He leaned forward and lowered his head, seemingly ready to be touched. After waiting for a while and not seeing a hand reach out, he looked up in confusion.
Unable to resist his expectant gaze, Shen Li reached out and flicked his forehead lightly with her finger. Seeing his surprised and terrified expression, she felt amusement in teasing him and smiled slightly: "Thank you."
He was probably trying to make her happy, and she seemed to enjoy it.
"Don't follow me anymore," Shen Li said before getting into the car. She took out the soy milk from the breakfast bag, finished drinking it, and forcefully stuffed the bag into Luo Mingxiu's hand. "Eat up, Xiaoyu bought extra."
Xiaoyu, who was inside the car, looked out curiously when she heard her name mentioned. She saw Luo Mingxiu looking down at the breakfast in his hand with a faint smile on his face, and then she saw Shen Li getting into the car, who also seemed to be in a good mood.
Xiaoyu guessed what was going on and asked with concern, "Sister Li, are you feeling better?"
Looking at the caring message from Cheng Qingqing on WeChat, Shen Li guessed that Xiao Yu must have been frightened by her mood that morning. In the past, if she was a little unhappy, she would not tell Cheng Qingqing as long as her assistant could handle it.
She gave Xiaoyu a smile: "It's okay, it's just that the makeup artist will have to do my eye makeup later."
Seeing that she was in the mood to joke, Xiaoyu relaxed: "I've already spoken to Sister Sara, I promise to make you look beautiful."
The makeup and photoshoot went more smoothly than expected; her group was finished before 10 a.m.
Shen Li changed out of her costume and walked out of the dressing room, then sent a message to Luo Mingxiu: Is filming finished?
After sending the flowers, I looked up and saw Fang Wei holding a bouquet of flowers not far away.
She composed herself and walked to the other side, but he came over and stopped her, forcibly shoving the flowers into her hand, while everyone around them watched them.
In front of everyone, Shen Li had no choice but to accept it, managing a weak smile.
