Chapter 75
"Did you cry?" Shen Li leaned closer to look at him, not caring what passersby thought.
"No." Luo Mingxiu pressed his hand to his eyes, and a tear slid down and hung on the tip of his nose.
"I'm leaving." Feeling a little embarrassed, he turned and quickened his pace to run away.
What's going on?
Shen Li ruminated on what she had just said, wondering if there was anything wrong with it. Was her statement that those who could not bring benefits should be eliminated too bluntly?
There's no need to cry.
Headache. She took out her phone and opened her chat with Luo Mingxiu: Why are you crying? You'd better explain yourself.
I haven't received a reply to this message yet.
After finishing her meal, Shen Li couldn't sit still any longer and went straight out to knock on his door.
"who?"
"I."
The door opened immediately, and a refreshing scent of shower gel wafted out. Luo Mingxiu was dressed in clean casual clothes, his hair still dripping wet.
Shen Li: "Taking a shower so early?"
"I'm going live tonight, so I washed my hair when I took a shower because it was a little oily." Luo Mingxiu took off the dry towel hanging around his neck and rubbed his hair.
"Live stream?" Shen Li suddenly remembered. "Oh right, Dark Corner has ended. You had a group live stream, but I forgot. I'll come back later."
Luo Mingxiu took her hand: "It'll start in a little while."
"Oh." Shen Li walked in and watched him take a hairdryer out of his suitcase.
"You brought your own hair dryer," she glanced at the brand, "Is it the low-noise model?"
Luo Mingxiu nodded: "Yes, it was a gift from the brand. I might be a spokesperson for it later."
Shen Li took the hair dryer: "Let me dry it for you."
"What's wrong?" Luo Mingxiu seemed a little flattered.
"I want to touch your head, but I can't," Chen Li plugged in the hairdryer and turned it on to constant temperature mode. "Hmm, it's definitely quieter."
She sat down on the sofa and pointed to the carpet in front of her. "If you sit here, can you hear me when I speak like this?"
“Yes.” Luo Mingxiu sat down and smelled her pleasant fragrance.
He curled his lips into a smile: "Why did you come to see me? I'm usually the one who goes to your room."
"You didn't reply to my message, so I came to see what you were doing." Shen Li played with his hair with one hand and blew the wind back and forth with the other, like a skilled hairdresser.
Luo Mingxiu: "I'll go get my phone."
"No need to take it, I just wanted to ask why you were crying."
Luo Mingxiu still took out his phone and turned on the front camera: "Keep bragging, I want to take a picture of this scene."
"I just cried because I empathized with them."
"What, empathize with whom?"
"You, the you from before, before you founded Qingli."
"Oh, is that so? You're worried about me?" The hairdryer was turned on again, the low-frequency wind blowing gently, which softened Shen Li's heart.
After drying his hair, Luo Mingxiu put the hairdryer away, used a comb to style his hair, and looked back at Chen Li leaning on the sofa, smiling as she looked at her phone.
Luo Mingxiu went over and sat down next to her: "What are you laughing at?"
Shen Li hit him.
Luo Mingxiu was completely bewildered.
Shen Li explained, "Some friends and relatives on WeChat asked me to help them call Liu Dong."
“Oh,” Luo Mingxiu laughed, “then you’re just going to brush them off like that.”
"What else? I wouldn't be able to bring myself to hit you." Shen Li put down her phone, leaned close to him, and kissed him on the cheek.
"I'm quite happy. I played a villain and made so many people hate me. This proves that your character has resonated with people and that your acting skills have been recognized by everyone."
"Aren't you scared?" Luo Mingxiu touched the spot where he had just been kissed, a slight smile playing on his lips. "Actually, even I'm a little scared when I see it. I had a really smooth time filming this movie, do you know why?"
"Why?" Shen Li turned her head.
“Because I’ve thoroughly studied the madmen you’ve portrayed,” Luo Mingxiu said. “You acted that madness exceptionally well. I learned it from watching it so many times. I remember that your movie also scared many viewers.”
"I'm scared, but not as hated as Liu Dong. I'm a pitiful positive character, mentally unstable but not a threat to society."
At this point, Shen Li paused slightly, narrowed her eyes, and said, "I've noticed that you seem to be very good at playing these kinds of roles, including Hu Zheng this time."
"What do you want to say? Do you think I'm a pervert too?" Luo Mingxiu hugged her. "If I were that kind of villain, you could take me down in one move."
"What trick is so powerful?" Shen Li laughed, noticing that his ears were very red, perhaps because the hairdryer had been blowing on them frequently.
Suddenly intrigued, she leaned back, propped herself up with her hands, and gently blew a soft breath into his ear.
Luo Mingxiu suddenly straightened up and put his arm around her waist: "Just like you right now."
"A honey trap?" Shen Li rubbed his ear. "Lin Xiao used it on Hu Zheng too, and he still wanted to kill her."
"Because Hu Zheng doesn't love Lin Xiao at all. He says he loves her in a grand way, but he actually hates her in his heart. He just refuses to admit that he is a dark, despicable person, so he creates the appearance of loving her so much."
"You understand well." Shen Li watched as the color of his ears deepened, then raised her fingertip and gently brushed along his ear.
"So sensitive?"
"Chen Li..." Luo Mingxiu said in a low voice, as if he was also suppressing some emotion. He suddenly pulled her into his arms.
Shen Li straddled his lap, her hands braced against his chest, feeling him lower his head, his breath brushing against hers, and her hair still feeling damp.
"Your hair isn't completely dry." Shen Li pushed him away with her hand.
"Just half-dry is fine." Luo Mingxiu's breathing was accompanied by the rise and fall of his muscles. He hugged the person in front of him tightly, wrapped his arms around her chin to her neck and then bit her earlobe, kissing and smelling it repeatedly, sucking and biting her ear.
Then I slowly moved down, resting my head on her shoulder, and took a deep breath of her scent.
Shen Li backed away, saying, "I haven't showered, what are you smelling?"
"I don't know," Luo Mingxiu looked up at her, his eyes filled with confusion, "It smells very good."
Shen Li never wears perfume while filming; she only smells of shower gel when she takes a shower every night. She looked down, grabbed her clothes, and sniffed them, but couldn't smell anything.
"What's so fragrant about it? You don't actually think sweat smells good, do you?"
"Maybe," Luo Mingxiu lowered his head and continued to nuzzle against her, saying three words gently, "Thank you."
"What are you thanking me for?"
"Thank you for signing me into Qingli. I am the luckiest person in the world."
Shen Li was pulled into his arms, and she could clearly feel his strong heartbeat, which made her feel very safe.
“You are the best person in the world,” he said again.
“I’m not,” Shen Li retorted. “How many people have you met?”
Luo Mingxiu gently touched her eyelids with his lips, his arms still tightly holding her: "I don't need to meet many people, I only need you."
The ringing phone interrupted their tender moment; it was Xiaowen calling to remind them to start the live stream.
"Let's go." Shen Li stood up decisively.
"Wait a minute," Luo Mingxiu called out to her.
"Hmm?" Shen Li turned around and saw his hesitant expression. She commanded, "Speak quickly, don't delay the important matter."
"The actor playing the apprentice will be joining the crew soon," Luo Mingxiu said.
Shen Li: "Didn't the group chat say he wouldn't be here until next week? Why are you paying attention to him?"
Seeing her unguarded look, Luo Mingxiu pursed his lips and said, "I heard that actor is a fan of yours. He's quite handsome. Have you worked together before?"
Hearing this, Shen Li raised an eyebrow: "Jealous? The person hasn't even joined the crew yet."
"Do you know him?" Luo Mingxiu asked again.
"I don't know him. How would I know him? I only know his name is Qi Yang, and he's worked with Director Xie." Shen Li said, tiptoeing to kiss him on the corner of his mouth. "Is he handsome? I don't even know what he looks like, and you went to search for his photos?"
“Not handsome,” Luo Mingxiu suppressed the smile that was about to spill from his mouth, turned around, and said, “I’m going to do a live stream.”
I'm happy again.
Shen Li pursed her lips.
Stupid dog.
How can they be so cute!
.
As a new week begins, Director Xie is chatting and laughing with someone on set.
That person must be Qi Yang. Shen Li saw him from afar, but the two of them hadn't noticed him yet.
She walked straight over, about to greet him, when Qi Yang turned around and saw her, his eyes immediately sparkling.
Upon seeing her true appearance up close, Shen Li was speechless at Luo Mingxiu's warning from the previous day.
He looks like a kid who hasn't even graduated high school yet. He has a delicate and pretty face, and his eyes have a kind of clarity that hasn't been beaten down by society.
Luo Mingxiu is jealous of everyone, regardless of age or gender.
"Sister Chenli!" the child exclaimed, looking at her with starry eyes, accompanied by a surprised scream, and in a child's voice that made her look even younger than she appeared.
"Stop making noise!" Director Xie slapped him on the back to stop him.
"Please excuse me, Teacher Shen," Director Xie said. "This is my nephew, a big fan of yours. He was so excited to see you that he talks a lot and might be a bit annoying all day. Please bear with him."
Qi Yang toned it down a bit: "Uncle, please don't say that about me. I'll be careful not to bother my sister."
"It's okay, he's quite energetic." Shen Li asked and found out that, just as she had guessed, Qi Yang was still a high school student.
After a brief greeting, the day's filming began. Qi Yang's apprentice only had one day of filming, with two scenes opposite her, and the rest of the time he was with Luo Mingxiu and the other two.
Perhaps because he has a director uncle, he has been exposed to acting since childhood. Qi Yang was not nervous at all when acting, which was beyond Shen Li's expectations.
The two scenes went smoothly. After filming, Qi Yang immediately ran to Shen Li and asked, "Sister, how did I do? Were there any problems? I was so nervous."
"She acted very well, and I couldn't tell she was nervous at all," Shen Li said truthfully. She looked out of the crowd and realized that Luo Mingxiu had moved over at some point, holding a script, and was there to take over her and Qi Yang's scenes.
She caught a glimpse of him staring at Qi Yang with a dark expression, the script in his hand crumpled in his grip. She quickly moved away from Qi Yang and turned to walk towards him.
Only when she approached did Luo Mingxiu withdraw his gaze, look at her, and softly hummed, "Sister?"
Qi Yang had a loud voice, and he heard the address.
"Yeah, I'm a high school student, is it okay for you to call me that?" Shen Li pried his hand away and rescued the script. "You're going to ruin the script."
“How can there be no problem?” Luo Mingxiu retorted. “Shouldn’t you call him ‘teacher’ on the first meeting? Or ‘Sister Shen Li’ or ‘Sister Li’ is fine. That’s what the staff call him. Just call him ‘sister’ or ‘sister’.”
He rattled off a whole string of words, and the last sentence even imitated Qi Yang's voice in a sarcastic tone.
Shen Li laughed so hard her shoulders were shaking.
"Still laughing." Luo Mingzheng wanted to pinch her cheek in retaliation, but his expression darkened when he saw someone coming over.
"Sister Shen Li." The person in question has arrived.
"Hello, Teacher Luo." Qi Yang smiled politely at Luo Mingxiu.
"Hmm." Luo Mingxiu responded indifferently, his brows furrowed deeply, feeling even more displeased.
See, you know how to call me teacher, don't you? Stop pretending.
He gave Shen Li a look, as if he thought she understood what he meant, but Shen Li didn't see it at all.
"Is there something you need, Qi Yang?" Shen Li asked.
Qi Yang hesitated for a moment. He glanced at Luo Mingxiu and saw that the man hadn't left and was staring straight at him, which puzzled him.
He said, "Sister, can I take a picture with you? I brought my camera."
"Director Xie—" Luo Mingxiu waved the script, "Can we rehearse now?"
"Okay, come over here," Director Xie shouted from the other end.
Shen Li found it somewhat amusing that this was a clear interruption. She replied to the somewhat disappointed Qi Yang, "Okay, you guys go ahead and film. The three of us have another scene to film. Let's take a group photo after we finish."
"Okay, thank you, sister." Qi Yang smiled and watched Shen Li walk away. When he turned back, he saw Luo Mingxiu staring at him again, his whole body radiating a murderous aura.
It just so happens that the two of them are acting in a rather brutal and terrifying scene. From the rehearsal to the actual performance, Luo Mingxiu's expression throughout the entire process doesn't seem like acting. His sinister aura makes Qi Yang break out in a cold sweat. He needs to put in a lot of effort to perform in order to meet Director Xie's requirements.
Even in the later three-person matches, Qi Yang always felt suppressed whenever he faced Luo Mingxiu.
If Qi Yang hadn't known it was a script, he would have thought Luo Mingxiu was about to kill someone.
Teacher Luo's acting skills are indeed superb, but he gets too immersed in the role.
Qi Yang felt Luo Mingxiu glaring at him the whole time. Finally, after it was over, he cautiously asked Luo Mingxiu, "Teacher Luo, did I do something to offend you?"
Luo Mingxiu's eyes were like daggers as he coldly said, "Kid, be mindful of boundaries."
"Huh?" Qi Yang scratched his head, not understanding for a moment, until he saw Shen Li waving in their direction, and he was about to step over.
The person next to him started moving first. The person who had just spoken to him in a cold manner rushed ahead of him to stand in front of Shen Li, and the two smiled at each other.
Thinking of the rumors online, Qi Yang blushed instantly. He walked over awkwardly, forced a simple thank you for Chen Li's care that day, and then turned and ran away.
"Hey? Don't you want to take a group photo anymore?" Shen Li called out.
Qi Yang turned around and saw that Luo Mingxiu had already taken his hand. He gritted his teeth and said, "No, no, thank you."
After saying that, he took off running and quickly disappeared from their sight.
Shen Li: "Strange, is someone chasing him?"
“Who knows?” Luo Mingxiu glanced at Shen Li’s ear and mimicked Qi Yang, “Sister Shen Li.”
"Are you never going to stop!" Shen Li blushed and reached out to pinch him.
Luo Mingxiu took her hand, placed it on his chest, and asked, "Is it hot?"
Shen Li pressed it, but didn't feel any heat; instead, she felt firm pectoral muscles: "What do you mean?"
Luo Mingxiu: "I'm so annoyed. I've been called 'sister' all day. How does it feel?"
"I feel pretty happy," Shen Li said with a hum, "Who doesn't like to hear sweet talk? Just like you guys all like sweet girls, we girls certainly like sweet guys too. Qi Yang is that type."
"You like it?" Luo Mingxiu narrowed his eyes, seeing Shen Li secretly smiling, he leaned close to her ear, "Then from now on, whether it's day or night, or even when we're doing 'that kind of thing,' I'll call you that, as much as I want, how about that?"
His voice was deep and gentle, and the breath he exhaled felt like a caress on the ear, sending shivers down the spine.
"You can't refuse anymore, sister."
