There were clothes too, most of them secondhand. Xu Lin guessed that some of them might have been taken from the bodies of her dead compatriots, which made her feel sick just thinking about it.
After looking at the official sales window, Xu Lin went to the acquisition window. There were several papers on the wall next to the window, listing the exchange points for various items. Xu Lin studied them carefully to see what she could exchange for in her space.
The most valuable items are metal objects, and the furniture and appliances are also quite expensive. What makes Xu Lin happiest is that the cigarettes, alcohol, candy, and tea are exceptionally expensive. The space has everything else, but there's plenty of cigarettes, alcohol, candy, and tea, especially red wine, which she just acquired a whole wine cellar from!
Xu Lin knocked on the window, and a staff member poked their head out.
What do you want to change?
"I have some red wine that I'd like to exchange for points."
As she spoke, Xu Lin took out a small 200ml mineral water bottle from her backpack (which was actually a storage space behind her) containing a pre-filled bottle of red wine and handed it to the staff.
"Here, please try this and help me estimate its quality."
The staff member's eyes lit up, and he pretended to take a small sip from a mineral water bottle. He'd been working here for almost a year thanks to his uncle's connections, and had collected quite a few things, but such delicious wine was a rare find. He figured he could take it back to use on his uncle's connections.
"You seem like a genuine person. This wine wasn't easy for us to get, so please give us a proper price." Xu Lin was also shrewd. Seeing that the other party seemed quite satisfied with the wine, she immediately seized the opportunity and quietly offered another bottle.
"Your wine is indeed very good, I'll give you 200 points per bottle!" The staff member quickly took the bottle that Xu Lin handed over when no one was paying attention.
Before coming, the doctor said that she rented a one-bedroom apartment for 80 points a month. This small bottle of red wine could rent a room for a month and a half. Xu Lin glanced at Zhou Pin.
“We only have 50 bottles on hand for now. Let’s exchange them for now, and we can exchange them again if we have more later,” Zhou Pin said after thinking for a moment.
"Okay, remember to bring it next time." The staff member took the wine from Xu Lin and counted the bottles while thinking, "This backpack can hold quite a lot."
Xu Lin looked at him and suddenly realized that her backpack couldn't possibly hold that much stuff, so she took Zhou Pin's bag and started "taking" things out from inside.
Staff member: This guy is such a pretty boy, he makes a woman carry all this while he just stands there.
Zhou Pin was slightly embarrassed: I didn't want to either, but I didn't have any space!
Xu Lin: Hehe, I'm a strongwoman.
After counting the items, Xu Lin took out her ID card and placed it on the machine at the window. The staff behind her pressed a few buttons, and with a "beep," the machine displayed: Balance. She instantly became a rich person.
Xu Lin originally wanted to split the points equally, but Zhou Pin insisted on crediting them all to Xu Lin's card, saying that he was already being kept by someone, so how could he receive a keeping fee? Xu Lin didn't argue.
With their points, the two went to the housing rental window. There were quite a few people there, some there to pay their rent, some there to rent, but very few to buy. It was obvious that the rich had already reserved their houses internally, and the poor couldn't even afford to eat, so where would they get extra points to buy houses?
After queuing for half an hour, it was finally Xu Lin's turn.
"Hello, I'd like to rent a house with a yard."
"Look for yourself. Red indicates that someone has bought it, yellow indicates that someone has rented it, and green indicates that you can choose it." The staff member handed over a tablet.
