"When soldiers come, generals will block them; when water comes, earth will dam it; when the car reaches the mountain, there will always be a way out; there is always a way out." Zheng Ming blurted out.
"I didn't realize you were so talented!"
"Just so-so, keep a low profile."
"Jingjing is right. We still need to prepare for the worst," Old Zheng said meaningfully.
"Xu Lin, what are you thinking?" Dr. Dai suddenly asked.
"I still hold the same view as before: there may be other natural disasters in the future. We cannot predict natural disasters, but we can store more supplies, exercise, and make ourselves go further in the apocalypse."
“Yes, I agree with what Xu Lin said,” Aunt Ning said.
“I think that makes sense too,” Dr. Dai said.
Wang Jing and Zheng Ming both nodded; everyone agreed with Xu Lin's statement.
The proposal banquet didn't end until 10 p.m., and everyone went home. Zhou Pin happily moved his bedding to Xu Lin's room and slept on Xu Lin's bed.
"You seem very happy. I've known you for a year, and this is the first time I've seen you say so much in one go," Xu Lin said to Zhou Pin after they finished washing up and lay in bed.
"Absolutely! A huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders," Zhou Pin said, hugging Xu Lin tightly. "There were so many people around, I didn't get to say a few words."
"You're going to break a record! Once you start talking, you can't stop."
"I'll get to the bottom of this tonight. Many readers say that my confession to you is for ulterior motives, to make you my golden finger. What I want to say is that I am indeed for ulterior motives. My future depends on your golden finger. I'm entrusting all my wealth, including my life, to you. You are my golden finger."
"You know who the sugar daddy is, so from now on, follow me and you'll live the high life. If you serve me well, the good days are yet to come," Xu Lin said slyly, lifting Zhou Pin's chin with her index finger.
“No problem, let my little brother serve you now.” Zhou Pin slowly approached Xu Lin.
A cloud drifted across the sky, and the moon shyly covered its cheek.
The next morning, Xu Lin unsurprisingly overslept. She got out of bed at ten o'clock and found Zhou Pin already finished exercising, made breakfast, and was sitting in the living room drinking tea, looking refreshed.
"Good morning." Zhou Pin put down his teacup and said as he saw Xu Lin come downstairs.
"It's getting late." Xu Lin glared at Zhou Pin.
"Come and have breakfast."
Breakfast consisted of corn, sandwiches, and milk, and the two sat facing each other at the table.
"Why didn't you come to work today? You haven't been to work for three days now. Did you resign?"
"No, I wasn't rushing to finish the project before. Now that the task is completed, I've had a week off, and then I have another week of wedding leave, which means I still have 12 days of vacation left."
"Can you take honeymoon leave without even getting a marriage certificate?"
"Sure, I'm going to take the leave regardless of whether I can or not."
"How capricious!"
"Let's go for a walk after we finish eating."
Where to?
"Let's go to the service hall today, and I'll take you on a trip tomorrow."
"Dude, it's the apocalypse, you're talking about tourism? You're more like fleeing a disaster."
"Treating the escape as a trip can be a great experience."
"Fallacy."
After finishing their meal, the two set off on their tricycle, carrying their backpacks as usual.
The service hall was crowded, probably because the temperature was gradually returning to normal and more people were out and about. Xu Lin had checked the thermometer before leaving home; it read 26°C, a fairly comfortable temperature. She couldn't help but start thinking about the trip Zhou Pin had mentioned.
As I walked into the free market, I spotted the woman who had sold seeds earlier from afar.
