Before going home, the two went to Sun Wei's house again. Sun Wei had just come back from get off work, and Zhou Pin went straight to chat with him. It's hard to believe that two grown men have so many things to talk about.
Xu Lin, Li Jingjing, and Aunt Wu talked about how Dr. Dai found his son, and they also said they would go to Dr. Dai's house together tomorrow.
The two left the seafood behind and went home. Nothing more was said that night.
The next morning at six o'clock, Xu Lin and Zhou Pin arrived at Sun Wei's house and went with them to Dr. Dai's house.
Xu Lin took the seafood that hadn't been delivered yesterday, along with the health supplements and baby formula she had received previously. She also gave Xiang Qing a pretty hair accessory, though she wondered if Xiang Qing would be sensitive to it.
Sun Wei, holding high-quality rice and honey from the base, walked ahead of Xu Lin and Zhou Pin, holding Li Jingjing's hand.
Xu Lin looked at their clasped hands. If it weren't for the apocalypse, they would have had their own child long ago and would be living happily.
Xu Lin's hand was held by Zhou Pin.
"Are you envious?" Zhou Pin asked.
"How childish," Xu Lin said.
Walking in the middle, Grandma Wu felt like she was an old, worn-out light bulb.
When they arrived at Dr. Dai's house, she hadn't left yet, and Zheng Ming's family had just arrived as well.
"How is the child?" Aunt Wu asked with concern.
"He's awake now. He needs daily nutritional injections. I take him to the hospital when I go to work and bring him back after get off work," Dr. Dai said.
"That's good. How's Xiao Qing doing?" Aunt Ning asked.
"She's doing well, chatting with Hao Hao very actively. I can see her anxiety, though. I hope everyone can comfort her," Dr. Dai said, looking at Xiang Qing who was chatting with Xu Lin in the bedroom.
Xu Lin guessed that Xiang Qing would be sensitive and uneasy, so as soon as she entered the door, she greeted her and came to chat with Xiang Qing.
"Little Qingqing, do you like the gift your sister brought you?" Xu Lin took out the bow gift she brought for Xiang Qing.
"I like it, thank you, Sister Linlin," Xiang Qing said somewhat reservedly.
"What's wrong? Are you in a bad mood?" Xu Lin asked.
"Now that Dr. Dai has found his biological child, does that mean he doesn't want me anymore?" Xiang Qing said, her eyes filled with tears.
“You are who you are, and it doesn’t matter whether others want you or not. You are an independent individual. The fact that Dr. Dai took you in certainly doesn’t mean she’s replacing her child, because her child is unique in her heart. Similarly, her finding her own child has nothing to do with whether she wants you or not. You are a smart child, and you should be able to understand this,” Xu Lin said.
"I understand. I will take good care of Brother Haohao with Aunt Dai." Xiang Qing thought for a moment and then said to Xu Lin with a smile.
Xu Lin had always known that Xiang Qing was a perceptive child, and it turned out to be true.
After comforting Xiang Qing, the two of them came out of the bedroom together, just in time to hear two aunties outside asking about Hao Hao's father.
"During the torrential rain, the two of them survived on the supplies I had stockpiled at home before I left. Later, when it got extremely cold, a female colleague from his workplace who lived in the same neighborhood as us teamed up with him to find supplies, and the two of them gradually got together. Hao Hao firmly disagreed, so the woman urged him to abandon Hao Hao because he was wasting food at home."
"Because Hao Hao was always quite vigilant, she didn't succeed. Then one day, that woman found the sleeping pills I kept at home and gave them to Hao Hao."
"She found a seafood vendor who traveled back and forth between Jinshi and sold Haohao to him. On one of the trips to Jinshi to pick up seafood, Haohao escaped."
