The next morning, after breakfast, the two went to the hillside to build a treehouse again. This time, Xu Lin helped to pass them wood, but the two of them worked together and their efficiency improved significantly. They finished building it by 11 a.m.
"Warm up the pot?" Zhou Pin asked Xu Lin.
"Wen, another home."
What would you like to eat?
"Let's have a picnic in the wild and take some photos. I've thought it through. Maybe the apocalypse will end someday, and all of this is valuable data."
Xu Lin hadn't taken any photos before, only when conditions allowed. Now she wants to create a "Doomsday Journal" to record every little detail of the apocalypse, so that her experience of the apocalypse won't be in vain.
Zhou Pin found a flat stone and cleaned it by the river. Xu Lin took the ingredients out of her spatial storage; they were all washed.
The two built two simple stoves under the treehouse and placed the stone slabs that Zhou Pin had brushed on them.
One stove was lit, and the stone slab was brushed with oil and heated up in a short time. Zhou Pin then placed slices of meat on it and started grilling.
Xu Lin set up a stone pot on another stove, preparing to make bibimbap.
Brush oil on the inside of the stone pot, place steamed white rice on it, cover it with the lid, and soon top it with Zhoupin's roasted meat and vegetables. This is Xu's new version of stone pot bibimbap.
Zhou Pin then placed vegetables and eggs next to the grilled meat.
Soon the meat, vegetables, and eggs were all ready. They were placed in Xu Lin's stone pot next to them, soy sauce was poured on, and they were mixed together. The aroma was irresistible.
Xu Lin took out her camera and took pictures of the treehouse, the bibimbap, and Zhou Pin.
Shuke and Beta arrived with their wolf cubs. The cubs had all grown up. Xu Lin had previously taken pictures of them when she first met them, and now they looked completely different.
Zhou Pin grilled a few pieces of meat without any seasoning for them, and the two people, two dogs, and two wolves ate with great merriment.
After dinner, Xu Lin and Zhou Pin went to the treehouse to rest, while the four of them continued to run wild.
The treehouse is actually about 7 square meters in size. Zhou Pin left a window in the treehouse and put a small tea table under the window. Xu Lin laid a moisture-proof mat on the floor of the treehouse and then laid a thick mattress on top, leaving only a small space to walk on.
The two lay on the mattress in the treehouse and chatted.
"If there's a tsunami, the treehouse's height should allow us to take refuge," Xu Lin said.
"It depends on where the earthquake happened. If it's relatively close to us, we'll have to go to the mountaintop to take refuge, since we live by the sea," Zhou Pin said.
"Now that the house is built, let's finish building the pigsty, chicken coop, and duck shed tomorrow, and then we'll go out to sea the day after tomorrow! The sea seems to be able to hold as much seafood as we want, but we need to keep upgrading to hold more deep-sea fish."
"Okay, let's take a walk around the mountain this afternoon."
The two lay down for a while before coming out. This place could be used as a temporary base for hunting in the mountains. The roof was waterproof, and there was an inner layer of heat-insulating and fireproof material, just like the wooden houses down the mountain.
The wooden houses at the foot of the mountain are made entirely of heat-insulating, fireproof, and waterproof materials. They are made of high-quality materials and would probably float on the water even if a tsunami were to hit.
In the afternoon, the two planned to walk around from the mountainside, along the cave, next to a patch of ground cherries that were ripe, and Shuke and Beta were eating them with the wolf cubs.
"You four are heartless! You didn't even call me when there was good food! I've given you so much good food for nothing!" Xu Lin said, pointing at the four of them.
Shuke and Beta glanced at Xu Lin, then continued eating the berries without any shame. The two wolf cubs, who had initially felt embarrassed, lost their sense of guilt after seeing the behavior of their two leaders and continued eating the berries.
