"You studied hard, and now you're farming just like everyone else?"
“It’s different now. Now I choose to farm, instead of being limited to farming.”
Xu Lin took out her phone and took a photo with Zhou Pin. The two were wearing rubber shoes and sportswear, straw hats, and holding sickles and pickaxes. They faced the camera with happy smiles on their faces.
In the afternoon, they harvested about 500 jin of sweet potatoes, most of which were stored in Xu Lin's spatial storage. The two of them each carried a basket down the mountain.
Perhaps due to the natural disaster, neither the walnuts nor the sweet potatoes are growing well.
Xu Lin thought it would be a good opportunity to exchange them for supplies; she couldn't take out the good-looking ones from her space yet!
As soon as the two reached the vicinity of the cave, they heard a wolf howl coming from the mountaintop.
The two exchanged a glance, initially intending to ignore it, but the two wolf cubs following behind howled twice and ran towards the mountaintop, with Shuke and Beta following behind. Xu Lin, fearing the wolf cubs' mother might be in danger, decided to go up the mountain to check on her.
The path up the mountain had been cleared by the two of them before, so it was easier this time. They reached the summit in half an hour.
The scene on the mountaintop was a brutal carnage. A dozen or so men, armed with clubs, spears, and broadswords, were fighting against about twenty wolves. Each of them had wounds on their bodies. Five or six men lay on the ground, some motionless, presumably dead; others, whose arms or legs had been bitten off by the wolves, were lying on the ground panting.
The wolf cubs were already helping. When Shuke and Beta saw Xu Lin and Zhou Pin hiding behind the rocks, they quickly ran over to find them. Without their owner's instructions, they could not attack humans; this was a basic duty of dogs.
"Can either of you tell me what's going on?" Xu Lin quietly asked Shuke and Beta.
Shuk: Can we say that you can understand us?
Beta: Woof woof, howl, woof!
"You mean they come here to kill wolves and eat them, and then the wolves take revenge?" Xu Lin asked Beta.
"Can you understand?" Zhou Pin looked at Xu Lin, who was looking very serious.
"I don't understand, I'm just guessing," Xu Lin said.
Zhou Pin: My wife is too funny, I can't keep up with her train of thought, what should I do?
However, Xu Lin's guess was correct. The people on the other side of the mountain moved into the mountains at the beginning of the apocalypse, and their initial goal was to catch pheasants and rabbits.
Later, they became dissatisfied, and with the weather getting colder, they wanted to make wolf-skin rugs and vests. They set their sights on the wolf pack in the mountains, and battles between humans and wolves broke out every now and then. At first, both sides had their wins and losses, but ever since two white wolves arrived, the humans have always been at a disadvantage.
Before Xu Lin and her group arrived, the werewolves were on both sides of the mountain. Some time ago, Xu Lin and Zhou Pin went to the other side of the mountain to exchange for food, which made them think that the wolf pack had been driven away. After a month of probing, they finally formed a team to go up the mountain to collect supplies on the other side. Unexpectedly, they were stopped by the wolf pack at the top of the mountain. What happened next was what Xu Lin and Zhou Pin saw.
Not knowing the whole story, Xu Lin and Zhou Pin didn't intend to help either side, so they quietly left the "scene." Shuke and Beta glanced at them and, seeing that the two little brats were in the lead, turned around and left with Xu Lin and the others.
No one knew that anyone else had been to this "battlefield," except for the two white wolves.
They knew that Xu Lin and Zhou Pin got along well with the wolf cubs, but in the face of danger, humans were more willing to help their own kind. However, Xu Lin and Zhou Pin did not help either side and left silently, which puzzled the white wolves.
