Chapter 267 Outsiders

After five more days of fruit picking, we harvested a mountain of peaches, apricots, plums, and cherries. The apples and pears will take a while to ripen.

That day, Xu Lin and Li Jingjing were picking blueberries from a tree. This was the last batch, and the two were quite happy, chatting as they went. Li Jingjing noticed that Xu Lin was staring into the distance, lost in thought.

"What's wrong?" Xu Lin asked.

“Look over there, isn’t something moving?” Li Jingjing said.

Xu Lin took out binoculars from her pocket and looked over.

“Someone is rowing over!” Xu Lin said.

"Huh?" Li Jingjing exclaimed.

"What's wrong?" Sun Wei, who was delivering blueberries, returned just in time to hear Li Jingjing call out.

“Many people have rowed over here in boats,” Xu Lin said, pointing down the mountain.

Zhou Pin took the binoculars and looked in the direction Xu Lin pointed. There were about a dozen or twenty people rowing two boats toward them. Then he handed the binoculars to Sun Wei.

“Three boats, a total of 23 people: 15 men, 6 women, and 2 children, who were carrying knives,” Sun Wei said.

"Let's bring in everything that's drying outside first, and then we'll see how things are at home," Zhou Pin said.

If the other party is just here to stay, everything is fine. But if they have other ideas... Xu Lin's big knife is not to be trifled with.

The four hurried home and brought all the things drying in the yard inside. They covered the sheep and rabbits they kept outside. Fortunately, the fence and traps had already been built and dug. These past few days, they've been able to pick out one or two pheasants or rabbits that come out of the traps to forage for food each day as an extra meal.

After packing up, Zhou Pin climbed a tree to observe and found that the other party had already reached the shore. They probably didn't expect there to be anyone on the mountaintop, so they came ashore without any precautions.

Once they got ashore, they couldn't see anything because of the trees. However, they should soon discover that there were people on the mountain because the fruit on the trees had been picked by people.

Sure enough, an hour later, Zhou Pin's surveillance footage showed three men approaching the fence. They were probably sent to check the situation. Upon seeing the fence, containers, and prefabricated houses, one of them turned back to report.

After a while, the person who went back to report brought back a man, who should be the leader of this group.

He first peered through the gaps in the fence to observe the situation inside, then whispered to the other three for a while. After they finished whispering, they found the gate of the fence and began to shout.

Is anyone there?

"What is it?" Sun Wei's sudden appearance startled the four people outside the door.

"Um, we're new here, just wanted to say hello," the leader said.

“You’ve finished taking care of things, you can leave now,” Sun Wei refused directly.

"Don't be so cold-hearted. We're all compatriots. Let's make friends. Having more friends means having more options," the man said again.

“We don’t make friends, you’d better leave now, or we’ll unleash the dogs,” Sun Wei said again, ordering them to get out.

"Alright, alright, we'll go right now." The leader immediately turned and left with his three underlings.

Xu Lin and Zhou Pin, who were not far away, heard the conversation clearly and both knew that they would not let it go.

Putting aside everything else, just looking at the walnut trees, chestnut trees, and various fruit trees on the mountain that they have stripped bare, you can tell they have plenty of supplies.

Fortunately, the fence was put up before these people came, so they couldn't easily get in, and the outside couldn't see inside.

However, the mountains are vast and rich in resources. As long as they don't focus on other people's small plots of land, there is still much they can achieve.
