Seeing Fu Gang lying in the cave with a foxtail grass in his mouth, Xu Lin suddenly realized that this guy had willingly been captured.
"Who are you?" Fu Gang asked, looking at Xu Lin and Zhou Pin as they entered.
“The person who was supposed to save you is now meddling in your affairs,” Xu Lin said.
"You can't say that. I'm still very grateful that you came to save me. But did we know each other before?" Fu Gang carefully observed the two of them but didn't feel any familiarity.
"I don't know him."
"Are those two trying to do a good deed?"
"You can understand it that way without any problems."
"Let's go." Fu Gang patted his butt and stood up.
Where to?
"You came to rescue me, right? Of course I'll go with you."
"We just want to save you, we don't intend to take you with us." After saying that, Xu Lin pulled Zhou Pin and turned to leave.
"Wait a minute," Fu Gang said seriously, "I want to make a deal with you."
"What do you, a prisoner, have to offer in exchange?" Xu Lin turned around, seemingly uninterested.
“I have a batch of supplies; I’ll give you half,” Fu Gang said.
"Tell me what this is about first."
Xu Lin guessed that Fu Gang probably couldn't get the supplies on his own, otherwise he would have run away long ago. This was probably where they needed to help.
"I have supplies, but I don't have a map and I can't find my way."
I considered all the possibilities, but I forgot about this one.
The cave wasn't a good place to talk, so Zhou Pin led Fu Gang to their temporary lodging, where the three of them discussed their next steps.
"How do you get your childhood sweetheart?" Xu Lin asked.
“She has a family and children, I can’t just elope with her, can I? I’ll give her some supplies later, that will be the least I can do for Uncle Liu.”
"Just keep it in mind."
Xu Lin was afraid that Fu Gang would fall deeply in love and insist on bringing along a child as a burden.
The reason Xu Lin and the others agreed to Fu Gang's offer of half the supplies was entirely because they heard from Brother Qiang that he had a lot of antiques, some of which were family heirlooms and others that he had collected later. Their space was desperately in need of supplies, and they had to make the most of every little thing.
After arranging the specific itinerary, Xu Lin thought that Fu Gang was a capable person, so why was he arrested? She spoke her mind directly.
"On the one hand, I wanted Siqiong to see her husband's true colors, and on the other hand, I wanted to be there to look after her. But now, she doesn't need me to take care of her anymore; her sisters can take care of her."
It's clear that Fu Gang is disappointed in Miss Liu.
After discussing it with Fu Gang, they agreed to set off in ten days. During those ten days, he would find a place to stay on his own, and Xu Lin left him some food for a few days. Then the three of them said goodbye.
Xu Lin and Zhou Pin rushed back, otherwise Sun Wei and the others would think something had happened to them.
The water level dropped rapidly, and the ground was exposed. They no longer needed to row back; they could walk.
Back at the campsite, it was almost dawn, and there were many suspended particles in the air, making the smog quite heavy.
Grandma Wu got up early to cook and just as she opened the door for them, she urged them to go back and rest.
The two didn't stand on ceremony; they said hello and went back to the container, not emerging until the sun was almost setting in the afternoon, when they stretched and yawned.
The two ate something simple and then went to Sun Wei's house.
"You've come at the right time. We were just about to look for you. We're packing our things for the next couple of days and we're leaving the day after tomorrow. The air quality is getting worse and worse," Sun Wei said as he saw them approaching.
"Yes, we'll probably leave early too."
When Xu Lin arrived, she saw the things that had been tidied up in front of and behind the house and guessed that they were going to leave early.
