Chapter 31 Office

Xu Lin actually put the golden Pixiu inside, regardless of whether it was real or fake; she was just trying to save face.

This is truly the office of the steel tycoon of the port city—it's incredibly luxurious, even the floor is gleaming with gold. A bow and arrow hangs on the wall, next to a calligraphy piece; I wonder which great calligrapher's work it is.

Below the bow and arrows was a knife rack, on which lay three knives. The value of the knives placed in the steel tycoon's office was self-evident.

Pick one of the knives up and chop it on the knife rack, cutting off a corner neatly like cutting tofu.

I'll split up with 801 in a bit. It should be good to chop people up; at least I won't have to suffer twice.

As usual, the locker was filled with cigarettes, alcohol, and tea—a considerable quantity. The tea alone included black tea, red tea, white tea, oolong tea, Pu'er tea, Longjing tea, and some Xu Lin didn't recognize. There was also a tea set that looked incredibly valuable, likely used when entertaining important guests.

There was a wine cabinet in the reception area, filled with red wine, white wine, and spirits—some familiar, some not. The power was out, and she wondered if it had affected the taste. Xu Lin's eyes lit up as she rummaged through her storage space. In the post-apocalyptic world of scarcity, who cared about taste? Having something to drink was good enough.

801 wasn't idle either. He found four safes and opened them one by one with a lock pick. The first one contained dozens of stacks of Mao Zedong bills, but it wasn't very useful, so he put it on the left.

The second safe contained important documents such as contracts with building material market suppliers, detailed information on the distribution and mining of major coal and mineral resources worldwide and domestically, as well as official seals.

It seems the rumors are true: the steel tycoon of the port city is preparing to enter the mining industry. The maps and mining methods are clearly marked and stored in a safe, which shows that these maps are quite valuable.

A list of mining machinery and equipment caught 801's attention. It was probably machinery prepared by the steel tycoon for mining. Judging from the date, it arrived at the port on the day of the apocalypse. It seemed that he would have to go to the port sometime.

The responsibility for upgrading the space rests on the last safe.

As expected, the third child opened a box of gems—yes, a whole box—along with several pieces of jade and agate, and a key. A key placed alongside these items must be very important; the only question is which door it can open.

Put these on the right and wait for Xu Lin to come and inspect them later. 801 then went into the rest room.

The lounge was no different from other rooms: a bed and a dressing room. The jewelry box in the dressing room had been taken out by 801, but the rest remained untouched.

After clearing out the entire office, the two met in the break room. Xu Lin packed away the things she needed for the space, and prepared to divide the rest with 801—or rather, to distribute them.

801 took a knife and pushed the rest to Xu Lin.

"Keep it. We came here to upgrade your space," 801 said expressionlessly.

"Okay, just tell me what you need." A larger "deposit" always makes people feel more at ease.

“We can fit a lot of things in the space now, let’s continue.” Xu Lin has a hoarding habit; she wants to stock up on supplies whenever the space is not full.

"good."

801 is a great partner; he's ruthless and doesn't mince words, and his skills and character are both excellent. I hope he continues to maintain this level of commitment.

The two people came out of the office and collected all the glass, steel bars, and hardware that they hadn't finished collecting before. They also collected hundreds of thousands of bricks and tens of thousands of cubic meters of sand. The space was almost full again, but the newly collected items hadn't been used up yet, so they should still be able to store quite a lot of things.
