If Xu Lin were standing at the window, she could see several people downstairs. Some were lying on wooden planks, and others were lying in large basins surrounded by styrofoam boxes, all trying their best to paddle towards the entrance of the community.
After the kind-hearted guy from 602 left, Xu Lin kept having dreams where she was fighting with others over a piece of moldy bread in her past life; and being beaten by five big men because of a handful of muddy water...
I opened my eyes at 2 PM. This nap didn't leave me in a good mood. Looking out the window, the floodwaters haven't risen much since they reached the 5th floor. I guess it will be extremely cold soon.
A large red plastic basin appeared at the entrance of the residential area, surrounded by many foam boxes, followed by several people carrying door panels.
Just as Xu Lin was lamenting how natural disasters had brought out people's creativity, she saw that the person sitting in the basin, paddling vigorously, was clearly the kind-hearted guy from 602.
They went for 6 hours. Judging from how hard he paddled, he probably found a lot of supplies. I wonder where they went.
"Xu Lin, are you awake?" came the voice of 801 from the walkie-talkie.
"You're up, what's wrong?"
"Do you want to go to the port tonight?"
"Can."
"It's a bit far, we should stay for two days."
“No problem, I’ll prepare the supplies. What time do we depart?” 801 has already provided motorboats and fuel, there’s no reason for Xu Lin to be stingy.
"Seven o'clock, I guess."
"good."
Anyway, no matter what time I leave, it will alert the people living near the stairwell. As long as it gets dark, it's fine. Going earlier will allow me to collect more items.
At 6 p.m., Xu Lin took out steamed fish, stir-fried potatoes, green peppers, mushroom soup, and two steamed buns from her spatial storage. She was going to stay up late that night, so she needed to eat more.
The door opened promptly at seven o'clock, and 801 appeared as usual carrying a motorboat. The two of them went downstairs together.
With everyone watching, Xu Lin couldn't put the motorboat back into her spatial storage, otherwise how would she explain it when she went downstairs? So she had to rely on 801. In this respect, she was very fortunate to have 801, a strong laborer, otherwise Xu Lin would have had to carry it downstairs herself.
Jinxiu Residential Area is usually an hour's drive from the port, but with the current road conditions, it will conservatively take two hours.
As it turned out, Xu Lin overestimated the road conditions. Everyone was trapped at home without water or electricity, and they had to take care of their basic needs such as eating, drinking, and relieving themselves. They couldn't leave their garbage at home, so they had to throw it into the floodwater outside the window.
801 drove a motorboat, and Xu Lin used a wooden stick to scoop away the garbage on the water. It took them two and a half hours to reach the port.
The port area was flat with no tall buildings. Turning on their powerful flashlights, they saw a vast expanse of water. Xu Lin and 801 felt heavy-hearted. Their beloved home had been destroyed, and the people were suffering terribly.
The two continued walking until they found the container storage area. This was thanks to the port's internal map provided by 801.
The two had originally planned to divide the work: 801 would be responsible for opening the boxes, and Xu Lin would be responsible for collecting the supplies.
However, plans can't keep up with changes. The port was flooded, and nearly half of the containers were submerged. Since we were already there, we couldn't let it go to waste.
The two discussed it and decided to first put all the containers into their spatial storage, then go to a place without water and open them one by one to collect supplies. They would keep the useful ones in their space and throw away the useless ones.
Here's the problem: taking such a large container out of the water will definitely create whirlpools, and the two people with the jet ski will be swept in.
Xu Lin's consciousness entered the space, wanting to see if all the containers could be stored inside. Suddenly, she saw the timer on the house and slapped her forehead—a person could enter the space the instant the containers were stored! She just didn't know if 801 could get in, and if so, whether it would pose a threat.
So many containers are a huge temptation; it would be a waste of my space not to take them. I trust those I employ and don't employ those I don't trust. Anyway, the 801 supplies are in my hands; harming them wouldn't benefit him either.
