"You little rascal!" Minister Sun said with a smile, pointing at Xu Lin.
“Has something happened to us these past few days? I’ve seen a lot of patrols around here,” Sun Wei said.
"Let's talk inside in a bit," Zhou Pin said.
Seeing Zhou Pin's serious expression, the group quickly and efficiently tidied up the things and went inside to sit down.
Inside, Grandma Wu had already boiled water and poured it into cups to warm everyone's hands. Li Jingjing held Xiao Youyou as Zhou Pin recounted what had happened a couple of days ago.
"So you've already finalized the action plan with Chief Yao?" Minister Sun asked.
"Yes, it's tonight, so you all need to get some rest. Hold the line tonight, we can't let them take our base," Xu Lin said.
“I’m with you,” Sun Wei said.
“Okay, everyone hurry up and wash up and get some rest. We’ll move out tonight.” Zhou Pin agreed without hesitation.
At five o'clock in the evening, it was already getting dark. Xu Lin and Li Jingjing prepared dinner, and the group quickly ate while there was still some light. Conserving resources was like prolonging life.
At six o'clock, Zhou Pin, Sun Wei, and Xu Lin arrived at the private base chief's residence on time. If it weren't for the base providing this location, Xu Lin would never have imagined that he lived in such a place.
By the moonlight, you could see all sorts of garbage and unidentified objects scattered on the ground. It was already the most dilapidated place in the base, and now it was even more unbearable to look at. The only thing that was pleasing to the eye was the dilapidated bungalow in the middle of the tents where the private base was located.
Although the environment was dirty and messy, Xu Lin and her two companions still noticed something amiss. The arrangement of these tattered tents was all around the bungalow, and there were almost no flaws in their arrangement.
In the two days before Sun Wei and the others returned, Xu Lin and Zhou Pin had already scouted the location and learned about their shift change. They had also communicated with Sun Wei before coming, so the three of them proceeded according to the established plan.
Thirty minutes later, the three met up in a tent near the bungalow. Everything was going smoothly, and all that was left was to take down the lair.
Next, Sun Wei kept watch outside while Xu Lin and Zhou Pin, disguised as patrol officers, slowly approached the target location.
Sun Wei originally wanted Xu Lin to keep watch while he and Zhou Pin went in, but Xu Lin refused. At least she had a cheat device that could save her life in a critical moment, while Sun Wei and Zhou Pin were just two mortals, and she couldn't save them if they were riddled with bullets.
The two walked to the base of the wall, and taking advantage of the moment when the dark clouds obscured the moon, they climbed onto the roof.
To convey a sense of dilapidation, the roof tiles were the most ordinary kind. The two slowly removed the tiles, with Xu Lin, who was lighter, going in first. Once they were sure everything was alright, Zhou Pin came down.
The two crawled forward between the suspended ceiling and the roof. After climbing only two meters, they both noticed a cat staring at them from ahead.
Xu Lin glanced at Zhou Pin: It seems this private base manager is quite vigilant; he even keeps a cat inside the ceiling.
Just as the cat was about to meow, Xu Lin pointed her finger and disappeared on the spot. This little thing could be solved with just one finger.
The private pet owner probably never imagined that his beloved pet would be "hooked" away by a single finger.
The two continued climbing for about twenty meters, estimating that they had reached their destination. Along the way, they encountered several obstacles, all of which were eliminated by Xu Lin's flick of her finger. She didn't even look at what they were; her main strategy was to eliminate anything that blocked her way.
Zhou Pin poked a hole in the ceiling, letting a beam of light shine in. The conditions were good, and there was even a kerosene lamp to use.
