Chapter 352 A Few Things Happened on the Road 3

With the road impassable, the day's itinerary had to be put on hold. Moreover, the road repair work would take at least a day or two to complete. Minister Sun said that the advance team had planned to clear the obstacles before they arrived, but a landslide occurred before the vehicles could get there, and a large number of rocks slid down the mountain.

Before they could clear the debris, another landslide occurred on the other side, followed by a series of landslides that blocked the entire road. If they didn't take this road, they would have to cross several mountains, which was impractical. The only option was to clear the rubble.

Since they couldn't leave anytime soon, they decided to set up camp. Xu Lin was quick-witted and found a place to park while Minister Sun went to scout the situation. Li Jingjing always admired Xu Lin's foresight.

The convoy stopped in a valley, flanked by high, barren mountains.

For safety reasons, a landslide has just occurred and people cannot go up the mountain. But who are they? They are survivors of the apocalypse. They can't even get food, so who cares about danger?

These past few times, Zhou Pin and Sun Wei have been the ones going out to collect firewood and find supplies. This time, they're staying for a longer period, so Xu Lin wants to go out for a walk and improve her meals.

Sun Wei and a few others stayed behind to hold things up, while Xu Lin and Zhou Pin carried baskets on their backs and went up the mountain.

The two picked up two tree branches and slowly walked up the mountain along the gravel. Before the apocalypse, this place must have been a tourist attraction, and occasionally you could see marble buried under the rocks.

The two walked along the marble slab, where the slope was relatively gentle, and quickly left the other survivors behind.

As Zhou Pin walked, he stopped and stared at the ground.

“These are… sheep footprints!” Xu Lin said.

"It should be."

The footprints were relatively fresh, indicating that they must have been frightened by the sounds they heard down the mountain. The two chased after them, following the direction of the footprints.

The vegetation on the mountain was all dead, and there were withered branches and rocks everywhere, but this made it easier for the two to track. After walking for about half an hour, they found the tracks of the goat.

The two slowly approached. It was an adult female goat who had just given birth. As Xu Lin and the others drew near, she gave them pleading looks. Beside the mother goat were two newborn lambs.

The ewe was so thin she was skin and bones; she probably didn't have the strength to run anymore.

Xu Lin took out a handful of hay from her spatial storage. The ewe's eyes lit up, and she sniffed it and started eating.

"Take this back for Xiaoyouyou's extra meal." Xu Lin took out another handful of hay.

“Yes, goat milk is easy to digest, but we’ll need to put space in these two small ones,” Zhou Pin said.

“Yes, it’s inconvenient and unsafe to travel with a small child. The milk produced by the ewe can be used to exchange for supplies. I see that some of the people traveling with us also have children,” Xu Lin said.

The two fed the ewe until she was half full, then put the lamb and the ewe into their space. The three sheep were still confused when they entered the space, but the two lambs, being ignorant and fearless, joined the other lambs in the space after a while.

Once the ewe confirmed that there was no danger in the space, she relaxed her vigilance.

The two continued along the mountain path, but there were basically no supplies to collect; most of the items were stones.

In just over an hour, the two caught a litter of rabbits and headed home; continuing to wander around would be a waste of time.

Xu Lin released the ewe from the space, and the two led it down the mountain. On the way, they met other survivors, who all looked on with envy. Some even wanted to get something for nothing, but Zhou Pin taught them a lesson before they behaved.

Back at the campsite at the foot of the mountain, Sun Wei and Minister Sun had already set up the tents and the stove, and were boiling water.
