"What's wrong?" Xu Lin asked softly.
“There’s a living creature inside,” 801 said seriously.
"Should we open it?" Xu Lin didn't want to cause trouble, but she was very curious.
"Open it and see, it might be a pet."
"Aren't pets all transported by air?"
"Some will be shipped by sea."
"Let's see. If we can release them, we will. It'll give them a chance to live."
Xu Lin felt sorry for these little pets. They had finally managed to land after crossing the ocean, only to be caught in a natural disaster and the end of the world.
801 opened the container, and surprisingly, it was brightly lit inside, resembling a small two-bedroom apartment. However, the owners of the house were two... dogs?
"Is this a German Shepherd?" Xu Lin used to really like German Shepherds.
"Yes, the bloodline is very pure," 801 said confidently.
"I want to adopt them." It's as if Xu Lin wasn't the one who just said she would give them a chance to live.
After a moment of silence, 801 said, "They're still young. With proper training, they'll be very useful in the future. Do you know how to train them?"
"No," Xu Lin said honestly.
"I'll train them."
“Okay, we’ll each have one, and I’ll provide the dog food.” One dog per person, 801 training, Xu Lin provides the food, it’s very fair.
The two men, oblivious to the dogs, began discussing the dogs' ownership, training, and feeding. Meanwhile, the two dogs inside the container were staring at them, completely unaware of their newfound arrangement.
There wasn't much dog food left in the container, so Xu Lin took out some imported dog food she had collected from her spatial storage and handed it over. The two little ones looked at the dog food, then at Xu Lin, as if considering whether or not to eat something given by a stranger.
"Eat up, welcome to join us!" Xu Lin said with a smile.
The two dogs remained unmoved, leaving Xu Lin feeling very frustrated.
"Take it slow. If you're vigilant, you won't be easily fooled."
After putting the two dogs in a box and placing them separately, it was already 12 o'clock, and Xu Lin suggested that they take a rest.
The two climbed onto a shipping container. Xu Lin took out a moisture-proof mat from her storage space, and the two sat down. She then took out boiled sliced pork, spicy rabbit head, garlic broccoli, and two boxes of rice.
"No one's coming over here for now. We'll have lunch and rest for a bit. We'll finish collecting the rest during the day tomorrow and head back tonight," 801 said, glancing at the containers on the water.
"Okay." Xu Lin was very satisfied with the arrangements made by 801.
After they finished eating, Xu Lin packed up the lunchboxes, planning to wash them when they got home. She then took out tents, sleeping bags, mouthwash, and other necessities for 801, since they weren't too fussy when traveling. After washing up, the two went to their respective tents to rest.
At six o'clock in the morning, Xu Lin peeked out of the tent and saw 801 packing up the tent. Xu Lin quickly got up and packed up as well.
Xu Lin went to check on the two dogs in the box. They had already eaten their dog food, and Xu Lin said she was very happy.
"Hello everyone, I'm Xu Lin, welcome to join us~"
The two little ones glanced up at her, then turned their heads away; it was simply unbearable to look at.
Xu Lin didn't mind being ignored by them, and took out goat milk to soak dog food for them to eat.
To ensure they ate with dignity, Xu Lin moved to the other side and took out steamed buns and millet porridge from her space to make breakfast for herself and 801.
After breakfast, Xu Lin continued working. She was particularly motivated today. With two more babies to feed, she felt hopeful about life and needed to stock up on supplies so she could live longer.
"Let's give them names," said Xu Lin, who was overjoyed to have two new companions.
"Come and get it," 801 said as he opened the box.
"The slightly larger one is called... My God! It can even drive a car!" Xu Lin exclaimed in surprise.
After getting to know Xu Lin, I discovered that she was a lively young girl. Perhaps she had experienced the apocalypse in her previous life and was suppressing her true nature in this life.
