The castle has five floors. The two men and two dogs searched up and down the castle. Since the owner was preparing to leave, he didn't leave anything of value. The items were mostly clothes, shoes, bags, bedding sets, furniture, and appliances.
Xu Lin didn't look down on it at all. You know, things that rich people consider worthless are out of reach for poor people. For example, this mattress worth 2 million yuan was probably just bought and still in its packaging when it was abandoned by its owner.
There were too many rooms and too much stuff to carry. By the time they got to the second floor, it was almost noon. Xu Lin took out rice balls and dog food, and the two of them and the two dogs shared them. After they finished eating, they continued their battle.
The study on the third floor was full of books; Xu Lin took all the books that the homeowner couldn't take with him.
There was a children's playground on the fourth floor, which Xu Lin also explored. She found children's toys, picture books, playpens, play mats, and even a practice room. She left some sheet music and other things there, as these were all sources of spiritual nourishment.
There is a large terrace on the fifth floor, where beach chairs, parasols, and potted plants are all placed.
After leaving the top-floor apartment, the two went to the building next door. It was obvious that the owner of this building had made a last-minute decision to flee, as the living room was a mess.
This didn't stop Xu Lin from taking away the sofa, carpet, and coffee table worth hundreds of thousands of yuan; even crumpled RMB is still money.
Clothes were scattered on the floor in the bedroom; it seems they took all the ones they liked, leaving these for Xu Lin.
Xu Lin and Zhou Pin collected three buildings and then met up with the others. Xu Lin took out a bag of flour, two bags of rice, several bundles of noodles, half a bucket of peanut oil, a bottle of olive oil, some snacks that children like to eat, and split solid wood tables and chairs from her space in advance.
“Although every household has vegetables, eggs, and fruit, they’ve all rotted, which is a real shame,” Sun Wei said.
“The furniture we went to was all solid wood, so we didn’t have to worry about running out of wood to burn,” Zeiss said.
“The place I went to has a lot of grain, but unfortunately the furniture isn’t fire-resistant. How about we exchange some?” Zheng Ming said.
"Sure, let's see if we can exchange what we need, so everyone can have what they want."
Old Liu and his wife carried bread, biscuits, half a bag of rice, a 20-jin bag of flour, a copper hot pot, a fruit knife, a cleaver, two pairs of children's snow boots, half a bucket of peanut oil, some seasonings, and some snacks, all wrapped in a curtain. They also took two solid wood tables, presumably to use as firewood when they got home.
When Lao Liu's wife, Zhang Min, saw that Xu Lin had some snacks that children like, she traded three packs of biscuits for Xiao Zhi. It seems that they really treat Xiao Zhi as their own child, which is quite nice.
The two Zeiss employees in room 601 carried a disassembled solid wood bed, two buckets of peanut oil, two bundles of noodles, two quilts, four down jackets, two kitchen knives, and so on.
Everyone spread out their supplies to see if there was anything they wanted to exchange. After exchanging, they started heading home, and it was already getting dark.
After walking for half an hour, five burly men carrying kitchen knives walked towards us.
"Put your things down, and we'll give you a way out," one of the men said.
The group had worked hard all day to get this much, and it was all life-saving supplies. How could they possibly give it away?
While the group hesitated, Zeiss, Sun Wei, and Zheng Ming, without saying a word, picked up kitchen knives and slashed at each other.
The robbers were stunned, not expecting to encounter such a formidable opponent on their first robbery attempt. It was the one in the middle who looked like the leader who shouted, "Run!"
The group turned and ran away in a panic.
