Chapter 8 The Great Sweep

After putting the display shelf away, a row of safes was revealed behind it. "My goodness!" Xu Lin was stunned by the row of safes. What kind of family has so many safes?

Xu Lin took out the tools she found at the hardware store and tried her best... but couldn't pry any of them open. She could only put them into her space to study them slowly later.

"Huh, what's this?" After putting the safe into her spatial storage, Xu Lin discovered a significant change. The warehouse was about 100 square meters, and the small vegetable garden was about 50 square meters. It seemed there were some items on the display shelves. Xu Lin was very happy; she could store more things now.

In the study, several unopened new cell phones and tablets were also found, probably bribes. "Take them," Xu Lin thought, "I need a few electronic gadgets to download apps for." After collecting everything, Xu Lin went to the dressing room and collected various watches, cufflinks, and limited-edition men's cologne.

"I'm not saying this to be mean, but with that unscrupulous manager's slanted eyebrows, narrow eyes, hooked nose, and long face, it's a waste to put perfume on him. Take it away, take it away."

They ransacked the first floor, including the bedrooms and kitchen storage room. The kitchen was filled with all sorts of abalone, sea cucumber, bird's nest, shark fin, and other delicacies—it was impossible to know when they'd be able to eat them all. Xu Lin could only reluctantly help them finish what they had.

The storage room was filled with all sorts of unopened home appliances: robot vacuums, electric toothbrushes, automatic frying pans, rice cookers, electric pressure cookers, ovens, air fryers, electric griddles, air coolers… basically every appliance on the market was included, and they were all the latest models from major brands. Without further ado, I bought them.

Everything that could be stored was put into the space. Xu Lin then went to the basement. If the first floor had broadened Xu Lin's horizons, then the basement would definitely open the door to a new world for her.

The walls were covered with calligraphy and paintings by ancient Confucian scholars (forgive Xu Lin's ignorance, she didn't know which dynasty they were from), and even the wallpaper was resplendent in gold. Xu Lin suspected that the walls were covered with gold leaf. Shelves upon shelves were filled with various antiques and...stones? Having learned from her previous experience, Xu Lin quickly put the stones into her spatial storage.

There were two stalactites, each as tall as a person, next to the shelf. Why wait to buy them?

I glanced at my phone; it was already midnight. I needed to hurry back to sleep so I could get up early tomorrow to exercise. I didn't have time to examine everything carefully; I just stored it all away in my spatial storage to study later.

This trip to the "small warehouse" was so extensive that we practically tore off the wall plaster and took it with us. We were completely satisfied and headed home.

After leaving Building 16, Xu Lin went around to a place out of the surveillance cameras to change into another set of clothes she hadn't worn before. Then she came out from the east gate, bought some late-night snacks outside, walked to an empty alley, put the snacks into her space, changed into her own clothes, and went to the south gate of the community to go home.

I ran into my neighbor from apartment 801 at the entrance of the building. He was carrying a large toolbox. We nodded to each other and waited for the elevator together.

There was no one else around at this hour, and the elevator doors opened quickly. As Xu Lin entered the elevator, she glanced at the toolbox in 801's hand. After the elevator doors closed, Xu Lin couldn't help but ask, "Zhou Pin, do you... have the tools to open the safe?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Xu Lin regretted it. Wasn't it obvious that she had done something illegal? Brains are such a good thing. Lowering one's guard based on the mere guess that the other party is a fellow reborn person is a major taboo for survival. She had wasted the last few years in the apocalypse.

801 turned to Xu Lin and said, "Yes, I'll get it for you upstairs in a bit."

"Thanks"
