As Xu Lin had expected, they hadn't left by 9 p.m. because the road was bad and the drive was tiring, so they announced a break at 9:30 p.m.
Zhou Pin took over from Xu Lin in the middle, so Xu Lin wasn't tired, especially since she was full of energy thinking about going to collect supplies soon.
"Dr. Dai, Jingjingzi, are you going out to collect supplies later?"
"We won't go. The road is too bumpy and I get carsick. Zheng Ming is also quite tired from driving. You guys have too much energy."
"I'm not going, I'll take a rest," Dr. Dai said.
Dr. Dai was working very hard, but Xu Lin told her that driving alone was already tiring, and that she should do what she could to collect supplies. She said that if she overworked herself, she would never see her husband and son again. Only then did she relax.
With no one else following them, Xu Lin and Zhou Pin were more free. They discussed it in the car. There was a plantation and logistics center nearby, and Xu Lin wanted to take a look. However, it had been almost a year since the apocalypse, and she didn't know if there were any supplies left.
It took Xu Lin 30 minutes to drive to the plantation, only to find it had been completely ransacked. She was disappointed, but it was expected. After so much time, it had been flooded, then frozen, and then looted by people searching for supplies; there was practically nothing left.
But she was unwilling to give up, always feeling that this was, after all, a vegetable-producing region, and there should be tenacious seeds taking root and sprouting in unseen places. So Xu Lin went to look at every former greenhouse, and Zhou Pin always went along with Xu Lin in this regard, accompanying her on her search.
Persistence pays off. In a half-collapsed greenhouse, they found a dying seedling. Zhou Pin couldn't tell what it was, but Xu Lin carefully planted it in her space.
After that, Xu Lin found dozens more seedlings. She was very happy because they could still grow after the flood and extreme cold. These must be excellent seeds that she had cultivated. After they came back to life in the space, they could be planted outside.
After leaving the plantation, the two continued driving to the logistics distribution center. They didn't have high hopes for this place, but the map showed the distribution center and the plantation as two large landmarks, so they came here.
The distribution center covers a large area and is the largest logistics distribution center in the entire eastern province. You can feel the former prosperity from the entrance, but now it is in ruins.
The two got out of the car and came in through the entrance. Xu Lin picked up several forklifts she encountered. Even if they weren't working well, she could sell them for scrap metal. Post-apocalyptic metals could also be exchanged for supplies with the government.
Inside, there were several large warehouses. All the cardboard boxes were soaked and deformed, and then dried by extreme heat. Most of them were probably unusable, but as the saying goes: since we're already here.
There was plenty of space, so finding an empty room to store all the packages wouldn't take much time. The two of them spent two hours going through all the warehouses, taking any forklifts or conveyor belts they came across.
After finishing their work, the two returned to the car, where Xu Lin prepared cold noodles and chilled drinks for dinner with Zhou Pin. Xu Lin was always happy to have a little treat whenever she went out to find supplies alone.
After finishing their meal, the two walked back and discussed with Zhou Pin about giving Wang Jing and Zheng Ming a bucket of water when they parted ways. They didn't lack food, but water was becoming increasingly precious.
"Stop the car! Stop the car!"
Xu Lin suddenly shouted for the car to stop, and Zhou Pin slammed on the brakes.
"What's wrong?"
"Look what's over there?"
The two were wearing night vision goggles, which allowed them to see clearly even in the dark.
