Because of the space preservation method, the potatoes are always at their freshest state and cannot be used for planting. Luckily, I bought extra potatoes when I bought them for planting at the farm.
First, put the potatoes you want to plant in moist soil to sprout them. The information says that sprouting takes about ten days, but I don't know if it will be earlier in the space.
Set the potatoes aside for now and start processing the sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes were also bulbs bought from the farm earlier.
Before planting sweet potatoes, the bulbs need to be treated for seedling growth. First, clean the selected sweet potatoes, then place them in a humid and well-ventilated environment. Once seedlings sprout from the surface of the sweet potatoes, they can be planted.
Since both sweet potatoes and potatoes needed to be seedled, Xu Lin also found pumpkin seeds and winter melon seeds and sowed them in the ground.
Shuke and Beta found it strange that Xu Lin was farming, so they followed her around, digging up the seeds she had buried in the soil. They were just like naughty kids, which made Xu Lin angry and chase them around.
This was the scene Zhou Pin saw when he came out of the house. Seeing that Xu Lin was tired from running, Zhou Pin whistled, and Shuke and Beta immediately ran to him.
“These two silly dogs are no good, they’re just like huskies,” Xu Lin said, panting.
"Come over and rest for a while and have some fruit." Zhou Pin pulled Xu Lin into the living room.
On the coffee table were apples, bananas, grapes, strawberries, and sliced watermelon.
"Are you done with your work?" Xu Lin asked, picking up a piece of watermelon with her fork.
"The preliminary work is complete, and it should be finished in two more days."
"Eat some fruit to replenish your energy, and don't overwork yourself."
After finishing their fruit and donning their protective suits, the two emerged from the space to spray insecticide. Inside the house, thanks to Zhou Pin's pesticide, no insects were found; outside, the insect population was noticeably smaller, proving the base's effectiveness.
The chat started again in the group in the evening.
Zheng Ming: I'm off work! I'm off work! I'm finally off work on time.
Wang Jing: The situation is excellent!
Sun Wei: The base will resume normal operations starting tomorrow.
Zheng Ming: Yay!
Wang Jing: Applause
Li Jingjing: Applause
Xu Lin: Then you can go home now.
Daiqin: Yes.
Sun Wei: Sure.
Zheng Ming: Shall we get together?
Wang Jing: Let's all tidy up at home tomorrow, and come over to our house for dinner the day after tomorrow.
The next day, there were no more bugs in the house. Xu Lin and Zhou Pin thoroughly disinfected the house and then took things out of the space and arranged them properly. Now that someone might come at any time, they were afraid of giving themselves away if they took things out at the last minute.
Because too much pesticide had been sprayed in the yard, Xu Lin decided to let the plants rest for a while before starting to plant crops. Things didn't stop in the living space, though; the small bok choy she had moved from the yard earlier was ready to be harvested.
Shuke and Beta were also released from the space and ran off, no one knows where they went to fool around.
It was a bright, sunny day outside, and the insects were gone. Xu Lin was in a great mood and took out a book about farming to read.
Zhou Pin was busy with his project in the study. He could finish it today if he rushed to meet the deadline, and he could hand in his assignment when he went to Zheng Ming's house for dinner tomorrow.
She had only read a few pages when her eyes became too sleepy to keep open. Just then, there was a knock at the door. Xu Lin glanced around the yard and, seeing no one who shouldn't be there, went to open it.
The visitors were Sun Wei and Li Jingjing, who brought a small machine.
"This is a water purification device, a gift for you," Sun Wei said.
Xu Lin knew he was thanking her for the deworming medicine she had given him, so she accepted it without hesitation. After delivering the items, they were about to leave without even going inside.
Just after seeing Sun Wei and his wife off, Zheng Ming and Wang Jing arrived.
"Weren't we supposed to have dinner at your house tomorrow? Why did you come over today?" Xu Lin asked.
