On the way back, I took an electric car. Gasoline cars are noisy, and it only took half an hour to get to the intersection in front of the community. If the roads outside weren't so bad, I probably would have gotten back even faster.
Entering the residential area would definitely attract attention from other buildings. Since there was nothing else to do and it was quiet outside, everyone would be looking out the window at the slightest sound. Even if the electric car was quiet, there was no guarantee that no one would be interested. So the two decided to put the car away at the intersection, but they had to tell the people downstairs beforehand. This way, they could be considered to have passed through the right gate.
The two went upstairs and ran into Lao Liu and Zheng Ming on the 6th floor.
"You guys went out? How's it outside?" Zheng Ming also wanted to go out; it had been a long time since he had "feet on solid ground."
"We went to the port. You can go and take a look. We brought back a car, and we're preparing to leave for the base in the next couple of days." Xu Lin didn't hide anything.
"Brother Liu, let's go tonight! I also want to get a car, so it'll be convenient to go anywhere." Zheng Ming rubbed his hands together eagerly.
"Okay, I'll discuss it with the others later. Xu Lin, are you guys still going tonight?"
“We won’t go. If you’ve received any items, you’d better disguise them, especially the car. We haven’t driven it back to the neighborhood. Now that the ice has melted and the water has receded, many people want to go out and about.”
That's just how people are; they can't stand seeing others do well. If Xu Lin had driven her car back to the neighborhood, it might have been vandalized that very day. When the granaries are full, people know etiquette; when people can't even get enough to eat, evil is everywhere.
After saying goodbye to Lao Liu and Zheng Ming, the two went home. They were going to the base in the next couple of days, and for convenience, Xu Lin was staying with Zhou Pin. Room 802 was now a bare shell, with even the doors and windows removed.
After washing up and having breakfast, the two took a nap, sleeping until 1 p.m. After lunch, Zhou Pin suggested that the two go to the space to farm.
Xu Lin wanted to develop the land outside the manor. With Zhou Pin's help, the process was much faster. By 5 p.m., they had planted Chinese cabbage, spinach, rapeseed, chives, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, potatoes, and green beans. From now on, the two of them wouldn't have to worry about vegetables.
After planting the vegetables, we also collected chicken, duck, and goose eggs from the breeding area, filling three large baskets—it was such a joyful harvest!
Since Zhou Pin built the fences and cages, the poultry and livestock in the breeding area have been kept separate for males and females. Xu Lin was worried that they would over-breed and she would be too busy to handle them, so she would breed them when needed. Now, with Zhou Pin's help, Xu Lin has mixed them up and put the dogs in to watch over them, which is also a way to make use of their value.
"Why isn't the time on the monitor changing?" Zhou Pin asked, looking at the monitor.
"Oh, I forgot to mention, the time spent working in space won't decrease."
“Then I can come in and farm whenever I have time. I remember we previously acquired a mini-tiller, a seeder, and a harvester. Having machines will save a lot of trouble and allow us to harvest more grain.”
"It's great to have free labor. I had forgotten about these machines until you mentioned them. I was worried about how to cultivate so much land."
At five o'clock the next morning, there was a sound coming from the security door downstairs. Zhou Pin took a pair of binoculars and could see that it was Lao Liu and the others returning, with bloodstains on their bodies. Xu Lin urged Zhou Pin to change his clothes and prepare to go downstairs to take a look.
When they arrived on the 6th floor, everyone saw Xu Lin coming over and thanked her again.
"Xu Lin, thanks to you for telling us to go to the port. We've taken several truckloads of food and hidden them all."
"Now I can go home with peace of mind. I wonder how my family is doing."
"Why are there bloodstains on you? Is anyone injured?"
