Chapter 185 Insect Plague 4

"Every Chinese person has a good tongue," Zhou Pin said.

"Food is the most important thing for people! Let's go catch some bugs later."

"You don't get goosebumps anymore?" Xu Lin had previously said that she would get goosebumps and her hair would stand on end whenever she saw insects.

"Catch them and save them to exchange for supplies. What if one day we can't even afford to eat bugs?" Xu Lin thought ahead.

So the two of them finished breakfast, got fully armed, and went out to catch bugs.

The yard wasn't as convenient for disinfection as the house, so there were still quite a few insects in the corners. Xu Lin used chopsticks in one hand and a jar in the other to catch the insects.

They caught all the animals in the yard in no time.

"How are things going for you guys?" Wang Jing asked in the group chat.

Dr. Dai: "It's under control for now."

Xu Lin: "It's impossible to escape once wings are grown."

Li Jingjing: "We've been there, after all."

Zheng Ming: "I heard that many people's vegetables have been eaten. At first, the base called on everyone to dig up vegetables and harvest grains, but they were reluctant to do so. Now they have no harvest at all."

Wang Jing: "It's not like they got nothing at all; they harvested some plump insects."

Li Jingjing: "Let me tell you about a delicious dish—cashew fried insects. Blanch the insects in boiling water, then fry the cashews and insects separately in oil with a little salt. After frying, take them out and stir-fry them together with a little chili. It's really delicious. If you have chicken bouillon, you can add some more. I think it will taste even better."

Wang Jing: "A foodie."

Li Jingjing: "This is not my invention; it is the wisdom of the people, the wisdom of the people of the port city."

Zheng Ming: "We happened to have some cashews that Xu Lin gave us, so my wife made some for her. @Jingjingzi"

Wang Jing: "All he does is eat all day long. He's useless at everything else, but he's number one when it comes to eating."

Zheng Ming: "Food is the most important thing for people!"

The first day of the insect infestation was basically spent chatting and joking around in the discussion group on the communicator.

That night, the two sprayed alcohol inside and outside the villa before washing up and going to bed.

At four o'clock the next morning, Xu Lin's communicator kept ringing; it was Zheng Ming sending messages in the group.

"Everyone hurry to the service hall to get your insecticide. It will be distributed starting at five o'clock."

"We were called in at 3 a.m. to prepare, and we haven't slept well at all. We're so worried."

"Now all I see are white bugs everywhere."

"Have you heard? There's a rich guy in the villa area who raised dozens of bugs with vegetables. Last night, the bugs he raised ate his legs. I wonder if his third leg was bitten too."

Xu Lin looked at the messages in the group and woke Zhou Pin up to disinfect.

"After we paint the exterior walls of the house with lime, we'll go out to get some alcohol, come back, eat, and then catch the bugs," Xu Lin said while spraying alcohol.

"Okay, after you've picked them all up, come back and blow them up together with the ones you picked up yesterday."

"Another delicious dish."

The two arrived at the entrance of the service hall at five in the morning. There were dozens of people in front of them, probably all family members of supply department employees. This was the job benefit; they could get any policy in advance.

The two moved forward slowly, and 20 minutes later it was Xu Lin and Zhou Pin's turn. Zheng Ming was distributing the supplies, and there was no time to chat. He handed the items to Zhou Pin and then the next person to receive supplies stepped forward.

Holding two bottles of alcohol and two bottles of insecticide, Xu Lin and Zhou Pin went to a less crowded place to catch insects, continuing until 11 o'clock. They estimated they had caught about ten kilograms, which they took home and fried together with the insects they had caught the day before.

"Want to try some?" Zhou Pin asked, noticing Xu Lin craning her neck to look.

"It's not like I haven't eaten before, you eat it, I'm not hungry," Xu Lin said while watching Zhou Pin eat, constantly swallowing her saliva.
