Chapter 788 The Old Thief's Thoughts

I'd like to share something with you all, which can be considered a summary and reflection on this book so far. It might be a bit rambling, but I hope you can bear with me and read on.

The book was originally conceived to be divided into two main parts: the first half tells the story of "three supreme warriors and one accessory", and the second half tells the story of "the supreme human warrior, Shura".

Within this framework, the plot of the entire book unfolds little by little.

When I first started writing this book, I was recovering from a serious illness. My asthma had improved a bit, and two days before I started writing, I was bedridden and unable to move due to lumbar muscle strain.

Even the opening paragraph I sent to the editor was only 2,000 words long, and the editor told me to just publish the book directly.

The entire initial creation process was carried out under very poor conditions.

At the time, I thought that since I had just arrived at Tomato, I would just write my first book as a trial. It would be best if I could make a living, but if I couldn't make a living, I would be happy to have some soup.

This leads to a terrible chain reaction: the beginning does indeed contain 8 lines.

The old thief revised the beginning several times, but within the existing framework, the changes that can be made are limited, and it's clear that the old thief is beyond saving.

Many friends will point out the bugs and shortcomings at the beginning, including the very childish setting of "ready to go" at the beginning.

At the time, I thought I'd give the protagonist a cool and awesome damage skill.

Then I almost messed up the early game.

Although a lot of remedial work was done afterward, the foreshadowing that was expected to be laid was successfully resolved.

However, as the plot progresses, the initial problems become like pebbles in the soles of shoes, making walking very uncomfortable.

The initial question wasn't a big deal.

The book truly came to life when the character of [Shadow Nine] was created, and the connection between the protagonist and the strongest was formally established, gradually getting on the right track.

For all of this, given his achievements today, Old Thief should definitely kowtow to Ninth Master.

Ninth Master's nature.

In the initial conception, the plot was supposed to go like this: Huo Tianwang fights the Great Demon God to the death, Ying Jiu reveals the truth behind Nightmare's death, ventures alone into the Abyss of Ultimate Power, and preserves the last embers of life...

But when it came to actually drawing the knife, the old thief hesitated to do it.

From a purely commercial writing perspective, in the battle between Huo Tianwang and the Great Demon God, exchanging one for one might be the best ending for Huo Tianwang's character.

The atmosphere had been built up to this point, it would be somewhat impolite for Old Huo not to die.

Fortunately, Old Huo has never been a polite person.

In the end, the framework was changed, resulting in the storyline you see now.

Actually, before that part of the story, the number of readers following the book was steadily increasing, but after it was finished, the number of readers dropped like water being turned on.

In other words, this plot choice was, to some extent, a poorly written mistake; had the story progressed as planned, it would have been more successful.

Because of this change, the truth about Nightmare's death was stretched from over 500,000 words to 700 chapters, which amplified the impact on the entire book.

After delivering that blow, the old thief felt as if all his energy had been drained away, and he instantly became listless.

The old thief still remembers that he stayed up all night to write those two pages, and then posted them together after finishing them.

Such an important plot point could be written in two chapters, or even 20,000 or 50,000 words if one wanted to.

But when I was writing it, I only had one thought in my mind: get it over with quickly, get it over with quickly...

After writing books for so many years, this is the first time I've ever done something so drastic.

They even made a big one right off the bat.

Before the readers could even get ready, the old thief had already broken down.

It was very difficult to write.

My writing has been in a very bad state ever since then, and it remains so today.

Returning to the protagonist of this book, Ye Bai, we've discussed him in a single chapter for almost a thousand words, yet he has absolutely no screen time, which is rather underwhelming.

Regarding Ye Bai, let me share my thoughts.

He was a young man aged 18 to 19, an age when he was still immature but beginning to show his talent.

Suddenly, I was transported to another world, awakened an SSS-level talent, and was given the mission to save the world.

Aside from the initial excitement and nervousness, he felt mostly bewildered and at a loss.

Ye Bai didn't know what he should do.

Slay the demon?

The demons have been driven away, the bloody battle is over, and the human race is defending against external enemies; it's not his turn to go to the battlefield yet.

Cleanse the evil cult?

Half of the demonic sect was under the surveillance of human powerhouses, while the other half was simply human spies.

A real man's battle in 1v1 with the Demon God?

That was a bit too much of a challenge for him.

Ye Bai looked at all the options around him and realized that the only thing he could do was to overcome the challenges, become stronger, and survive...

Ye Bai has always done these three things very well.

The sacrifices made by the strongest humans of previous generations, and the countless brave individuals who followed in their footsteps, were all for the purpose of leaving a safer and better environment for future generations to grow up in.

Ye Bai is an extremely strong seed that grows in such an environment.

Besides these things, Ye Bai's restlessness and confusion during adolescence constantly affected him.

He treats Ninth Master like an elder, and Shadow Three like a friend; while fleecing Big Mengzi, he doesn't forget to find someone to help him forge weapons...

Putting Xue Meng aside, Ye Bai's overall account has always been in the red.

Even if Rick deducts wages from his subordinates on a regular basis, those few people Ye Bai deducts from are not living off wages. They could easily earn enough money by killing a demon god on the battlefield.

Except for Xu Qingfeng.

While Ye Bai was in a state of confusion, no one ever asked him, the chosen one, whether he was willing to be the strongest seed, whether he was willing to save the world, or whether he was willing to risk his life against the strongest demon god.
