Chapter 4 Audition Role: Mental Patient

However, she doesn't know that yet.

Lin Ran's audition wasn't for a mental patient?

Chu Lan was slightly shocked when she heard the news, and she didn't know if she had been misled by An Ning's few words earlier.

She auditioned for the role of the protagonist's sister. This scene is where she interrogates the perpetrator, and Anning is the mental patient.

By a twist of fate, An Ning still got the role she originally wanted to audition for.

With a snap of her fingers, Lin Ran, who was standing in front of An Ning, suddenly changed her demeanor. Her eyes became calm as she stared intently at An Ning and calmly recited the lines she had memorized.

"Before killing my mother, you went to a breakfast shop and bought two steamed buns. According to the shop owner's account and the surveillance footage outside the shop, you were in good mental condition at the time and did not exhibit any signs of losing control..."

"But just a dozen seconds later, you walked past my mother with a steaming hot bun in your hand. Up until this point, you seemed perfectly normal. But then, in the next second, you suddenly pulled a folding fruit knife from your pocket and stabbed my mother dozens of times. It was because of your actions that she suffered a massive arterial hemorrhage and died on the spot!"

"What makes you think you can absolve yourself of your crimes by simply saying you were mentally ill and couldn't control yourself? Huh? What makes you think that?! Tell me, what makes you think that?!"

As Lin Ran spoke, she became somewhat out of control, her eyes bloodshot, and the fierce glint in them made her want to skin the person alive.

But this did not affect An Ning sitting in the chair at all. Her expression remained unchanged, and she was still casually playing with the folding fruit knife, completely ignoring Lin Ran.

"I'm asking you a question! Did you hear me?"

An Ning's fingertips suddenly stopped moving. She slowly raised her head to look at Lin Ran. The moment she saw the other person's face clearly, she suddenly grinned and laughed. A cackling laugh escaped from her throat, making Lin Ran's hair stand on end.

"Didn't you hear me say that I was having an episode at the time and had no self-control?"

Her speech was neither hurried nor slow, and the folding fruit knife in her hand started moving again. However, this time she turned the fruit knife slowly. Lin Ran didn't know what was wrong with her. All her attention was taken away by the fruit knife in An Ning's hand, as if she were bewitched.

Just as she was about to tell Anning to stop what she was doing, her gaze fell upon Anning's hand, which suddenly became empty, leaving only two slender white fingertips...

Fear began to spread from the soles of Lin Ran's feet. By the time she saw the fruit knife flying towards her, she was already paralyzed with terror. All she could do was close her eyes and keep backing away, and as she retreated, an uncontrollable scream escaped her throat, "Aaaaaaahhhhhh—!"

She kept backing away until she bumped into something and lost her balance, falling to the ground.

Meanwhile, An Ning was surrounded and her hands were restrained. The assistant director in charge of the audition was in his heart, his heart pounding in his throat. He rushed over to help Lin Ran, who had fallen to the ground, and on the way, he didn't forget An Ning either. "What are you doing? How dare you commit violence in public! What are you all standing there for? Call the police!"

Surrounded by dozens of people, with her hands tightly held by four, An Ning calmly watched the scene before her. After hearing the assistant director's words, she tilted her head in confusion, "Director, what are you doing? Aren't we auditioning?"

When Assistant Director Fang heard An Ning's words, he was so angry that he almost vomited blood on the spot. "Who auditions like this? This is called intentional assault!"

"Huh?" An Ning looked puzzled. "Was she injured? No, right? Am I being too paranoid? Am I?"

"So... how is this not an audition? I'm playing a mental patient who's being interrogated, right? Under these circumstances, it's normal for me to 'act out a little,' isn't it?"

Deputy Director Fang was dumbfounded and couldn't utter a single word for a moment.

What she said... seems to make some sense.
