Chapter 179 Embryo

Anning was led to an empty small room. The room was furnished in an old and worn manner, looking like an old cubicle that had been there for decades. The walls were yellowed and mottled, covered with old graffiti. If Anning didn't know that the show hadn't officially started recording yet, she would have thought that she had entered the recording location chosen by Ang Lee.

"No, there are way too many red stains in this room."

An Ning wandered around the room, then raised her fingertip and gently ran it across a corner of the wall, instantly leaving a thick layer of plaster on her fingertip.

It doesn't look like the work of the production team; it seems more like the result of the room having undergone changes over time.

An Ning was puzzled when she thought of this possibility. Where did Li An find such an old house?

Did they rent someone's abandoned old hospital to film this?

If it were just a hospital that was abandoned due to normal upgrades and construction, that would be one thing. But what's scary is... the real reason this hospital was abandoned isn't that, but some other things that can't be explained to ordinary people.

For example: haunted.

Anning has never been afraid of ghosts, but she couldn't resist someone trying to play tricks. Just as she was deep in thought, a hand suddenly reached out from behind and put it on her shoulder. Perhaps thinking that this alone wouldn't scare her to death, it patted her shoulder very considerately and said in a low, barely audible voice, "Anning, what are you looking at here?"

As soon as she finished speaking, An Ning successfully kicked the other person in the groin with her raised foot. The force she used was so great that if she had aimed at the man's genitals, he would probably be infertile by now.

After the piercing screams rang out, An Ning turned around to look at the person who had appeared, and what she saw completely stunned her.

"What's going on?"

When An Ning saw Jiang Yu clutching his thigh and his face contorted in a grimace, a huge question mark appeared on her face.

Didn't you say you needed to talk to her about something?

How come the person who issues the tasks has become a regular guest?

Three seconds later, Anning got her answer.

"What? You're saying we're a group now and have to get out of this room first? Why? Can we trust what you're saying?"

An Ning repeated Jiang Yu's words while taking two steps back, as if she was afraid that Jiang Yu would suddenly rush forward and eliminate her.

“Yes.” Jiang Yu stood up despite the pain, his face still flushed. He forced himself to avoid meeting An Ning’s gaze and calmly told her what he had learned: “This room is locked from the outside. We need to get the key from inside before we can meet up with the others.”

Although Jiang Yu's words were somewhat forced, they were still clear enough for An Ning to hear everything he said.

Hearing something clearly is one thing, but believing it is another. "When did you come in? How come I had no idea? Where did you get this so-called information from?"

Moreover, An Ning felt that the recording of this episode started far too casually, without any warning, as if she had been involved from the moment she stepped into this place.

Upon hearing An Ning's question, Jiang Yu replied politely, "You're asking me when I came in? I should be asking you when you came in! I've been in this room the whole time and haven't seen you at all. If I hadn't found a mission card that required me to work with the other people in the room to get out, do you think I wanted to be with you?"

Jiang Yu was already quite angry after being kicked, and An Ning's barrage of questions only fueled his anger, making him speak in a tone that was half-joking and half-serious.

In truth, An Ning knew that if it weren't for the cameras watching, Jiang Yu would definitely have turned against her right now.

But there was nothing she could do; the deed was done, and she couldn't possibly ask Jiang Yu to kick her to vent her anger.

"Then show me the mission card."

An Ning stretched out her hand and looked at Jiang Yu, quietly waiting for him to hand over what she wanted.

Although he was still very angry, Jiang Yu, adhering to the principle of leaving room for maneuver, handed the things to An Ning.

Just as An Ning took the card, Jiang Yu heard a voice that was neither too loud nor too soft, "Sorry about earlier, I thought it was a ghost. I owe you a favor."

Jiang Yu was taken aback, and an unnatural expression appeared on his face, but he quickly suppressed it. "Don't think that I'll forgive you immediately just because you said that. It's impossible!"

An Ning, staring at the card in her hand, paid no attention to his words and simply said, "Okay, it's alright. I don't expect you to forgive me right away."

Even a fool could see through the perfunctory tone and casual attitude of Jiang Yu.

The card clearly states that Anning and the other people in the room should find the key and leave the room, then meet up with the people waiting outside.

At first glance, it seems normal, but after thinking about it carefully, An Ning realized that it wasn't necessary for her to cooperate with Jiang Yu. Someone else could probably do the job, right?

But most importantly, Anning can't find another person to cooperate with right now.

Are you sure you've been here the whole time?

An Ning tossed the task card she was holding onto the dusty desk and began to slowly pace around the room.

After she had turned around halfway, she discovered that the originally narrow room had suddenly become a little more spacious.

How do we know this?

It's very easy to tell.

Normally, An Ning could only walk a few steps in a circle before returning to the starting point, but this time, no matter how she circled, she had to walk at least a dozen steps to get back to that desk.

In other words, this room occupies a significantly larger area.

After realizing this, An Ning suddenly lowered her head to look at the ground.

When she saw a long drag mark that had appeared on the ground sometime during the night, she suddenly understood.

There used to be a wall here, separating her and Jiang Yu. Then, without either of them noticing, the wall was suddenly removed, successfully creating this situation.

Anning didn't know how the wall was designed or how it was designed so that neither of them would realize it was actually a fake wall, but she thought she would find out once she got out of there.

"Jiang Yu, let's look for the key first."

An Ning didn't dwell on it any longer and immediately took action after speaking.

She opened the desk drawer, which was covered in a thick layer of dust, and what she saw made her pupils contract sharply.

What appeared in this drawer was not some other miscellaneous things, but a thick stack of yellowed photos. However, even though the photos were old and yellowed, it did not lessen the horror they evoked in the slightest.

The photo showed a bloody, mangled mass of flesh, from which one could vaguely discern severed, unformed limbs. Considering the location of the small room, a reasonable explanation immediately came to An Ning's mind.

Is this an aborted embryo...?
