Chapter 4 Criminal: Yes, yes, all of them, go to Arkham...

Bat and Gotham, a part of the player's play.

The massive screen covering the entire wall of Batcomputer greatly enhanced the player's gaming experience and speed. Wen Yue's control of Batman was smooth and fluid, as she leaped into the Batmobile.

Players control Batman on their computers like in a single-player action-adventure game, remotely controlling his clone. The game utilizes an optimized version of the Unreal Engine, delivering realistic visuals and excellent sound effects, providing players with an immersive visual and emotional experience.

Wen Yue drives the Batmobile recklessly through the streets of Gotham. Surprisingly, every time she is about to hit an obstacle, the scene slows down or even freezes. This time-stopping technique gives the player ample time to maneuver and avoid the obstacle.

As night fell over the city, the Batmobile, like a nimble fish, glided smoothly between the skyscrapers, each turn a dance of perfect harmony with speed.

The Batman being manipulated on the screen is an avatar created by the world's consciousness, with almost all of his stats at maximum, resulting in an overall rating of S+.

Even though they are two identical bodies, the original body's stats are lower than the clone's. Wen Yue reasonably suspects that the world's consciousness cut corners and secretly slacked off when creating the original body—otherwise, it couldn't be that the player lowered the stats, right?

[Arrived at destination: Adams Pier.]

On this rainy night, Gotham felt colder than ever.

A group of gang members loaded boxes of contraband onto a truck, and the leader waved and urged them to speed up.

Wen Yue controls Batman to pop out of the Batmobile, seamlessly connecting with the use of the grappling hook to fly up the building, crouching in the dark shadows to mark all enemies.

"Crack." The batarang shattered the light source.

"What's going on..." A commotion arose from the crowd below.

Batman spread his cape and leaped down the stairs, taking care of the guards on the edge in the blink of an eye.

Silently setting down the unconscious guard, the dark figure approached the vehicles where people were gathered. Under the cover of chaos, another fierce fight broke out. When the lights came back on, only the leader and an armed man with a gun remained.

The leader's gaze swept over the gang members sprawled on the ground, and he exchanged a three-second glance with Batman. "Fire!"

Unfortunately, while everyone was stunned, Batman fired his grappling hook, snatched the gun, and killed the last armed man present with a single punch.

Stealth operation a great success; cleared the beginner dungeon without taking damage.

Approaching the sole "survivor" leader, Batman asked in a low voice, "Who do you work for?"

The leader's gaze shifted erratically, his eyes darting around as he considered his next move. Wen Yue gave him no chance to stall, immediately moving on to a segment unsuitable for children…

After a series of memory recovery techniques, the leader's thinking became clearer than ever before. His mind was no longer senile, and his speech became fluent. He confessed everything he could, and even things he shouldn't have.

[A crucial clue has been obtained: the Black Mask Gang acquired and transported large quantities of hazardous chemicals.]

"Very good." The player Batman punched him, sending him to a peaceful sleep. Youth is wonderful; you can fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow.

When the gang's reinforcements arrived, the bats were nowhere to be seen, and all the boxes on the truck were open, their contents of chemicals gone and completely empty.

Wen Yue sifted through her game inventory with a satisfied smile, feeling a great sense of accomplishment. The missing pile of hazardous chemicals from the Black Mask Gang was naturally in her inventory, taking up an entire inventory slot.

Game Backpack: A virtual space used to store player items.

Already stored: Hazardous chemical X99.

Remaining capacity: 9 slots.

After discovering she could stuff contraband chemicals into her backpack, Wen Yue excitedly ransacked the entire dock, seizing a quantity of drugs and immediately calling the police. She also unexpectedly found a sizable piece of kryptonite at another dock, which she happily accepted after disrupting the deal.

Is this the joy of buying things for free?

After Superman defeated General Zod and his Kryptonian army to save Earth, Kryptonite became extremely sought-after and in short supply. While Superman's immense power provided a sense of security to those he protected, it also aroused suspicion and distrust in some. Upon learning that the Kryptonite left behind after the Kryptonian explosion could weaken Superman, some began a massive acquisition spree, most notably the incredibly wealthy Lex Luthor and Wayne Enterprises.

Wen Yue browsed through the system logs left by the world's consciousness and found many records of Wayne Corporation's acquisition of kryptonite. However, the players did not know where the world's consciousness stored them; only the kryptonite in their game inventory was real.

[System (World) Log: From major natural disasters around the world in previous years to individual personal experiences, everything is listed here.]

After collecting her spoils, Wen Yue moved on to the main city area.

Through the interrogation, the player learned that the chemical contraband belonged to Black Mask, but as far as she knew, Black Mask did not have any related industries or businesses, and it was most likely that they needed it in cooperation with others.

But Wen Yue, the person behind it all, doesn't have that much time and energy to investigate; Batman still has a lot of work to do tonight.

The first thing to deal with is Poison Ivy, who has occupied Robinson Park and turned the nearby citizens into puppets.

The bat-shaped fighter jets are in place, the herbicides are installed, and the process of waking up the puppet citizens has been arranged.

Having read the relevant DC works, Wen Yue knows 108 ways to deal with Poison Ivy, and the countermeasures are countless.

With a walkthrough in hand, Wen Yue successfully defeated Poison Ivy within an hour and easily locked up in the specially designed cell arranged by the game system in Arkham Asylum.

The cleanup work, such as rescuing citizens who had escaped control, was taken over by the Gotham Police Department, with reimbursement handled by Wayne Enterprises.

Next up is the killer crocodile.

The killer crocodile, who eats human flesh buffet in the sewers every day, is finally in for a treat today.

Batman would definitely lose to Killer Croc in a head-on fight, but crocodiles are naturally dim-witted, and Killer Croc has reverted not only to his physical form but also to his intellect.

Wen Yue feigned defeat and hastily fled, but after crossing a section of ground, she suddenly stopped and turned back to leisurely watch the show. The camera dutifully recorded this historic scene: "Killer Crocodile Falls into the Pit."

That means Killer Croc isn't very bright; after living in the sewers for so long, he still doesn't know whether this piece of land is real or fake.

I'll get some Six Walnuts (a brand of nutritious herbal supplements) for Arkham Asylum later. Anyway, Arkham is now part of the Wayne family business.

Next up, the Mad Hatter.

Defeating a villain not known for his strength was easy, but what was truly shocking was that after being defeated by Batman, he actually called Batman Alice.

Having long heard that the Mad Hatter was a psychopathic villain in Gotham, Wen Yue finally witnessed his power today, feeling as if she had received a mental blow.

A fire broke out at the Autisburg Fire Station in the middle of the night. When Batman arrived, he discovered that the culprit was Firefly, who was causing fires in the middle of the night instead of sleeping.

After Batman extinguished the fire, Firefly went into a breakdown mode and started setting fires all over Gotham.

Catching the firefly-shaped flying armor equipped with various fire-breathing devices is not easy. The fires left along the way also need to be dealt with. Wen Yue controls the bat plane and sprays special fire extinguishing agent along the way.

Finally, the enraged player jumped off the plane, landing on fireflies flying in mid-air, before finally pinning the villain down and delivering a few brutal punches to teach him a lesson.

The story of Batman teaches us that being merciful to your enemies is being cruel to yourself (your friends).

Crime never stops, and neither does the work. Gotham's criminals are in for a treat tonight, having encountered a player-made Batman.

He, she, or it either actively reforms, goes to Arkham Hospital for medication, flees to escape punishment, or faces certain death (being shot dead by the Gotham City Police Department when they come to clean up the mess).

What crimes did this group commit? Starting with the disappearance of Batman's butterfly, they turned a small matter into a big one, a big matter into two, imagined a conflict, punished multiple crimes together, changed those who should have been placed under supervision to imprisonment, and fought for the death penalty for those who should have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Every word they uttered was a promise kept. This was the player's specialty, and the criminals' lives and fortunes.

The biggest crime these criminals committed was bringing Wen Yue here.

If we can't defeat the world's consciousness, can't we at least defeat these people?

Even if Batman has a no-kill policy, players will let all the criminal NPCs who disturb her sleep know: those who can't kill him are better off being killed! Those who haven't been dealt with are better off being dealt with!

—Actually, Gotham's criminals don't need to worry about Batman's no-kill policy from the players. It's the fourth catastrophe, what principles are left? Life and death are in the hands of fate, wealth and honor are determined by heaven. If a criminal's will to survive is strong enough, they can get up and stand on their own without anyone's help in a short while. If they can't get up, it means they died a worthy death.

Don't even ask how they can stand up when they're not even out of breath. Ertong has been doing sit-ups like crazy in the field, and he's even developed abs. What can't these criminals stand up for?

(Jason Todd, also known as Red Hood or the second Robin, is routinely buried and resurrected in DC Comics.)

Wen Yue: I'm tired. Let's destroy it.

As dawn broke and the long night turned to day, Wen Yue, who had worked tirelessly all night, rounded up all the villains, big and small, who had wreaked havoc in Gotham. Some were sent to Blackgate Prison, and others were stuffed into Arkham Asylum. The Gotham Police Department also worked hard all night to wrap things up.

After completing today's game missions, Batman can finally head home. Upon arriving at the Batcave, the player successfully retrieves him through contact.

There are still a few "big fish" left in Gotham that haven't been found, and players will need to continue to follow up.

The Penguin and Black Mask's criminal records have been kept in the system for years. After the player packages and sends the evidence of their crimes, he leaves in front of the Bat computer.

Those two who were loading the cargo, go to Blackgate Prison first.

As dawn broke, Gotham was blessed with a sunny day.

"This is Violet Del from Gotham Cable, broadcasting live outside the Gotham Police Department. Today we learned that a mysterious figure claiming to be Batman has wiped out Gotham's criminal underworld overnight. These criminals who have been a headache for the Gotham Police Department were arrested and brought to justice in one night. Is this due to the incompetence of the police department in the past...? The fact that Gotham City needs Batman's help proves the failure of the police force..."

"The Tower News reports that a superhero named Batman appeared in Gotham City last night, capturing and imprisoning several previously untouchable supervillains overnight. Some of the criminals have been detained at Arkham Asylum due to mental health issues..."

Gotham's criminals have met their end, and Gotham citizens are celebrating after seeing it trending on social media.

Wen Yue slept until she naturally woke up, and ate her breakfast—no, I mean lunch—while listening to the news reports on TV.

The global consciousness has stepped in to quickly fill the gaps, and the overwhelming propaganda is simply unbearable. News coverage of the overnight superhero Batman is relatively positive, drawing parallels with other superheroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, and The Flash, leading to a generally positive public acceptance of Batman.
